Even though this is a very large kitchen the work spaces have been placed in very close proximity to each other. This 1,650 sf beach house was designed and built to meed FEMA regulations given it proximity to ocean storm surges and flood plane. It is built 5 feet above grade with a skirt that effectively allows the ocean surge to flow underneath the house should such an event occur. The approval process was considerable given the client needed natural resource special permits given the proximity of wetlands and zoning variances due to pyramid law issues.

In the heart of New Orleans, architect Nathan Fell and his family found themselves facing an all-too-familiar dilemma –urban proximity vs. suburban spaciousness. Due to work, school and home schedules, the parents believed too much time was spent indoors, disrupting the family’s wellness. They began contemplating whether it was worth it to exchange proximity to public parks and city amenities for a larger backyard as outdoor access. Rather than relocating, Fell decided to make a bold change by constructing a new family home duplex, “Bienville House,” which “flipped the script” on indoor-outdoor home life within a small urban lot.

For this kitchen remodeling project, our homeowners were wanting to make some major changes to their outdated kitchen. They were looking to remove the cabinets above the peninsula to help open the space up. For the cabinets, they went with our Proximity door style in a Spruce color from our Kitchen Solvers Legacy Collection. We then installed a new Bianco Texas granite countertop and a silver diamond tile backsplash. To finish this stunning transformation, we added a new Santa Ana Walk Rigid Core luxury vinyl plank floor. Now our clients have the kitchen of their dreams!
