A typical Parisian apartment kitchen is compact but functional, featuring a small stove, oven, and refrigerator. It often has a vintage feel and is well-equipped with high-quality cookware and appliances. Despite its small size, it is well-stocked with fresh produce, bread, and cheese, reflecting the importance of good food in French culture.

Mr. and Mrs. Eades, the owners of this Chicago home, were inspired to build a Kalamazoo outdoor kitchen because of their love of cooking. “The grill became the center point for doing our outdoor kitchen,” Mr. Eades noted. After working long days, Mr. Eades and his wife, prefer to experiment with new recipes in the comfort of their own home. The Hybrid Fire Grill is the focal point of this compact outdoor kitchen. Weather-tight cabinetry was built into the masonry for storage, and an Artisan Fire Pizza Oven sits atop the countertop and allows the Eades’ to cook restaurant quality Neapolitan style pizzas in their own backyard.

While Parisian kitchens are often known for their compact size, some apartments in the city do feature spacious kitchens. In a spacious Parisian kitchen, you might find ample counter space for food preparation and cooking, as well as a large dining table or island for meals and entertaining.
A spacious kitchen in a Parisian apartment might also have a larger refrigerator and freezer, as well as additional storage space for cookware, utensils, and pantry items. The appliances and fixtures in a spacious Parisian kitchen might also be more modern and luxurious than those in smaller kitchens.
Despite the larger size, a spacious Parisian kitchen would still reflect the city's love of good food and quality ingredients, with an emphasis on fresh, seasonal produce and high-quality cookware and utensils. The kitchen would still serve as a social hub for family and friends, with plenty of space for cooking, dining, and entertaining.
In summary, a spacious Parisian kitchen would provide ample space for food preparation, dining, and entertaining, with modern and luxurious appliances and fixtures. However, it would still reflect the city's love of good food and quality ingredients, serving as an important part of Parisian culinary culture.

When we drove out to Mukilteo for our initial consultation, we immediately fell in love with this house. With its tall ceilings, eclectic mix of wood, glass and steel, and gorgeous view of the Puget Sound, we quickly nicknamed this project "The Mukilteo Gem". Our client, a cook and baker, did not like her existing kitchen. The main points of issue were short runs of available counter tops, lack of storage and shortage of light. So, we were called in to implement some big, bold ideas into a small footprint kitchen with big potential. We completely changed the layout of the room by creating a tall, built-in storage wall and a continuous u-shape counter top. Early in the project, we took inventory of every item our clients wanted to store in the kitchen and ensured that every spoon, gadget, or bowl would have a dedicated "home" in their new kitchen. The finishes were meticulously selected to ensure continuity throughout the house. We also played with the color scheme to achieve a bold yet natural feel. This kitchen is a prime example of how color can be used to both make a statement and project peace and balance simultaneously. While busy at work on our client's kitchen improvement, we also updated the entry and gave the homeowner a modern laundry room with triple the storage space they originally had.
End result: ecstatic clients and a very happy design team. That's what we call a big success!

This kitchen was designed by Bilotta senior designer, Randy O’Kane, CKD with (and for) interior designer Blair Harris. The apartment is located in a turn-of-the-20th-century Manhattan brownstone and the kitchen (which was originally at the back of the apartment) was relocated to the front in order to gain more light in the heart of the home. Blair really wanted the cabinets to be a dark blue color and opted for Farrow & Ball’s “Railings”. In order to make sure the space wasn’t too dark, Randy suggested open shelves in natural walnut vs. traditional wall cabinets along the back wall. She complemented this with white crackled ceramic tiles and strips of LED lights hidden under the shelves, illuminating the space even more. The cabinets are Bilotta’s private label line, the Bilotta Collection, in a 1” thick, Shaker-style door with walnut interiors. The flooring is oak in a herringbone pattern and the countertops are Vermont soapstone. The apron-style sink is also made of soapstone and is integrated with the countertop. Blair opted for the trending unlacquered brass hardware from Rejuvenation’s “Massey” collection which beautifully accents the blue cabinetry and is then repeated on both the “Chagny” Lacanche range and the bridge-style Waterworks faucet.
The space was designed in such a way as to use the island to separate the primary cooking space from the living and dining areas. The island could be used for enjoying a less formal meal or as a plating area to pass food into the dining area.
