This beautiful custom build was based off of a similar floor plan that we had built. We modified the plan slightly, and mirror reversed. We then added an additional garage to suite the needs of the client. We had several custom designs on the interior of this home from the lighted powered room vanity, extensive kitchen island, to the custom design tile work in the master bath shower. The exterior was also a custom design challenge that incorporated real stone with brick to give the exterior a unique look.

This simple modern theater was a real challenge. The immovable beams forced us to do some mockups and ensure the projector placement would work. The client wanted a very simple but elegant room!

The existing U-shaped kitchen was tucked away in a small corner while the dining table was swimming in a room much too large for its size. The client’s needs and the architecture of the home made it apparent that the perfect design solution for the home was to swap the spaces.
The homeowners entertain frequently and wanted the new layout to accommodate a lot of counter seating, a bar/buffet for serving hors d’oeuvres, an island with prep sink, and all new appliances. They had a strong preference that the hood be a focal point and wanted to go beyond a typical white color scheme even though they wanted white cabinets.
While moving the kitchen to the dining space gave us a generous amount of real estate to work with, two of the exterior walls are occupied with full-height glass creating a challenge how best to fulfill their wish list. We used one available wall for the needed tall appliances, taking advantage of its height to create the hood as a focal point. We opted for both a peninsula and island instead of one large island in order to maximize the seating requirements and create a barrier when entertaining so guests do not flow directly into the work area of the kitchen. This also made it possible to add a second sink as requested. Lastly, the peninsula sets up a well-defined path to the new dining room without feeling like you are walking through the kitchen. We used the remaining fourth wall for the bar/buffet.
Black cabinetry adds strong contrast in several areas of the new kitchen. Wire mesh wall cabinet doors at the bar and gold accents on the hardware, light fixtures, faucets and furniture add further drama to the concept. The focal point is definitely the black hood, looking both dramatic and cohesive at the same time.

This is southern yellow pine at its finest! 1 inch copper pipe! 4 x 6 beams! Interlocking 2 x 6 boards! End result customer was astonished! This pergola was constructed using methods never used today except by me. All of the intersecting joints use mortise and tenon joinery. All of the copper pipes are recessed into holes. Some of the mortise and tenon joints are double bypass. That of course probably doesn't mean much to the average reader. But if you are a woodworker you know exactly what I'm talking about and you understand the difficulty of assembly. I also challenged myself on this one by constructing it from some very simple drawings and no real plans. It was all done in my head! If you think that I'm bragging it's only because I am!

design challenge: original built-in cabinets made this space look dated and closed off. DeMatteo Designs suggested the owner remove some of the cabinet door faces to create open shelving for display. Staging was done in a way to give a more playful and modern look to the room.

When it came to designing my own kitchen it was a real challenge. It's hard to be objective about your own space. And I wanted a little bit of everything! I settled on colors that were calm and soothing, creamy off white cabinetry, typhoon green granite counters, glass tile backsplash and emtek crystal hardware. The Subzero and Bosch Dishwasher received custom panels. This kitchen is in Full Overlay styling with a simple flat panel door. The decorative elements in the hood and island corbels and legs at the sink give it a little extra flair.

This tiny apartment had so many quirks and random placed cabinets and walls it was a real challenge to create a cohesive look. The toile fabric covered board closes off the open window between the bedroom & living room plus creates a fun place for mementos, art and gifts.

This tiny bathroom posed a real challenge. The homeowners desperately wanted dual sinks - but with the space constraints it just didn't seem possible. The key was to install separate sinks on two different walls - sizing them to fit. We ended up with a 27-inch vanity for "him" and a 36" vanity for "her."

With soft, slender styling and modern fluid form that challenges industry norms, the Per Se Decorative sink faucet features clear crystal knob handles by illustrious French crystallerie Saint-Louis. KALLISTA and Saint-Louis are pleased to present a stunning faucet, worthy of this prestigious mark and unprecedented partnership.

A real chef lives here! The hounds tooth upholstery on the chairs is a nod to the traditional chef's trousers! This home presented many challenges. the original kitchen was cut off from the home and was difficult to access with step up and steps down into the space. The cooking areas is the former mudroom, powder room and breakfast room all separated from each other and the kitchen. the hang out space was the location of the original kitchen. The exposed beams with beadboard ceiling in between was created to address the difference in floor and ceiling levels in the home.
