Today, the color pink is almost always associated with girls and a children's room in pink was requested by our client for her 4 year old daughter. When in the conditions of KOVID 19 children spend more time at home and in 4 walls, the request was to create a room that will provide adequate space for play. The very square of the room required to create an easily accessible storage space for clothes, bedding and toys, while leaving room for changes that will follow the growth and development of the girl. For these reasons, the bed is raised on the floor and a play area is left under the bed itself, with the possibility in the near future to turn it into a working part.

This new rec room was carved out of a circa 1870's grand brownstone in Brookyn Heights. The floor was dug down about two feet to create a reasonable ceiling height. Pipes were hidden by acoustical ceiling tiles and the floor was finished with children friendly vinyl planking.

Meribeth and her family love our Pro-dunk hoops goal! Her son, Connor is 6 years old and is able to raise and lower the goal himself. That was one of the main reasons for their purchase. It was also incredibly easy to assembly with the video guide and instructions. It has been a great addition to their 3 car garage driveway. The playing area is 35 feet wide and 25 feet deep. California Coastal Play Room Color and Pattern are the theme of the space. One of the reasons I love doing kid spaces is that you can go a little wild with color! We had floor cushions made according to the dimensions of twin beds. Kids love to be on the floor, and this is a way to create a fun, cozy reading and playing area. The kids also sometimes put sleeping bags on top of the mini mattresses for sleepovers! For dimension, walls are painted a beachy-aqua hue on the lower half and white above. The owners of this beautiful historic farmhouse had been painstakingly restoring it bit by bit. One of the last items on their list was to create a wrap-around front porch to create a more distinct and obvious entrance to the front of their home. Aside from the functional reasons for the new porch, our client also had very specific ideas for its design. She wanted to recreate her grandmother’s porch so that she could carry on the same wonderful traditions with her own grandchildren someday. Key requirements for this front porch remodel included: - Creating a seamless connection to the main house. - A floorplan with areas for dining, reading, having coffee and playing games. - Respecting and maintaining the historic details of the home and making sure the addition felt authentic. Upon entering, you will notice the authentic real pine porch decking. Real windows were used instead of three season porch windows which also have molding around them to match the existing home’s windows. The left wing of the porch includes a dining area and a game and craft space. Ceiling fans provide light and additional comfort in the summer months. Iron wall sconces supply additional lighting throughout. Exposed rafters with hidden fasteners were used in the ceiling. Handmade shiplap graces the walls. On the left side of the front porch, a reading area enjoys plenty of natural light from the windows. The new porch blends perfectly with the existing home much nicer front facade. There is a clear front entrance to the home, where previously guests weren’t sure where to enter. We successfully created a place for the client to enjoy with her future grandchildren that’s filled with nostalgic nods to the memories she made with her own grandmother. "We have had many people who asked us what changed on the house but did not know what we did. When we told them we put the porch on, all of them made the statement that they did not notice it was a new addition and fit into the house perfectly.” – Homeowner

To make it into usable space, we added reclaimed wood shelves above for toys and books. Behind the shelves, a Schumacher wall covering adds interest. Color and Pattern are the theme of the space. Our client’s charming cottage was no longer meeting the needs of their family. We needed to give them more space but not lose the quaint characteristics that make this little historic home so unique. So we didn’t go up, and we didn’t go wide, instead we took this master suite addition straight out into the backyard and maintained 100% of the original historic façade. Master Suite This master suite is truly a private retreat. We were able to create a variety of zones in this suite to allow room for a good night’s sleep, reading by a roaring fire, or catching up on correspondence. The fireplace became the real focal point in this suite. Wrapped in herringbone whitewashed wood planks and accented with a dark stone hearth and wood mantle, we can’t take our eyes off this beauty. With its own private deck and access to the backyard, there is really no reason to ever leave this little sanctuary. Master Bathroom The master bathroom meets all the homeowner’s modern needs but has plenty of cozy accents that make it feel right at home in the rest of the space. A natural wood vanity with a mixture of brass and bronze metals gives us the right amount of warmth, and contrasts beautifully with the off-white floor tile and its vintage hex shape. Now the shower is where we had a little fun, we introduced the soft matte blue/green tile with satin brass accents, and solid quartz floor (do you see those veins?!). And the commode room is where we had a lot fun, the leopard print wallpaper gives us all lux vibes (rawr!) and pairs just perfectly with the hex floor tile and vintage door hardware. Hall Bathroom We wanted the hall bathroom to drip with vintage charm as well but opted to play with a simpler color palette in this space. We utilized black and white tile with fun patterns (like the little boarder on the floor) and kept this room feeling crisp and bright.

Objective: The clients childhood memories of a home previously stayed in as a young girl played a vital role in the decision to totally transform a part of history into a modern retreat for this couple. Solution: Demo of every room began. One brick wall and center support wall stayed while everything else was demolished. We rearranged each room to create the perfect home for the soon to be retired couple. The clients love being outside which is the reasoning for all of large window and sliding doors which lead to the pool and manicured grounds. A new master suite was created, new guest room with ensuite bath, laundry room, small family room, oversized living room, dining room, kitchen, dish pantry, and powder bath were all totally reimagined to give this family everything they wanted. Furnishings brought from the previous home, revived heirlooms, and new pieces all combined to create this modern, yet warm inviting home. In the powder bath a classic pedestal sink, marble mosaic floors, and simple baseboards were the perfect pairing for this dramatic wallpaper. After construction, a vintage art piece was revived from storage to become the perfect juxtaposed piece to complete the powder bath. The kitchen is a chef’s dream with clean lined cabinets, white quartz countertops and plenty of seating for casual eating.

The furnishing we played with color, pattern, and texture. The white hug you loveseat fit perfectly into the space and the swivel chair was selected for no other reason that if was comfortable and fun and you know what? It works. The rug was a great find. The mod design and bright colors really bring life to the space.
