Horizontal and vertical wood grid work wood boards is overlaid on an existing 1970s home and act architectural layers to the interior of the home providing privacy and shade. A pallet of three colors help to distinguish the layers. The project is the recipient of a National Award from the American Institute of Architects: Recognition for Small Projects. !t also was one of three houses designed by Donald Lococo Architects that received the first place International HUE award for architectural color by Benjamin Moore

A four story residence for battered women was the recipient of an extreme makeover of the entire facility on volunteer time and donated funds. A year in the making, this little bedroom that I designed was just one of the many rooms that was made functional, pretty, peaceful and safe.

An award-winning Asheville Home. The original plan for this project was much more complex, but due to the site being used as a dumping ground over the decades, the soil was unsuitable for such a design. Our challenge then became to create space that still felt contemporary and comfortable, all while staying small. As a result, the footprint of the house is modest – 24’ wide by 32’ deep. Rather than using traditional on-site framing, this project used a prefabricated, panelized system, which was a first for the office. This allowed the house to be vertical within a matter of a couple days, but admittedly, required adjustments once installed. It is insulated beyond code requirements and includes high-efficiency mechanical systems, making it net-zero ready. Just add solar panels, and this house can create as much energy as it consumes. Inside, the project has 3 bedrooms and 1-½ bathrooms. At the entry there is a double-height, plywood clad stairwell, lit by tall windows above the front door. Turning away from the stair on the main level takes you past the first bedroom (or home office) and half bath, and into the living/dining/kitchen space. Windows in this space look out onto the side- and backyard, and strategically avoid views onto the covered deck, which is accessed past the dining area. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, the full bathroom, and a laundry closet. Skylights punctuate the upper level, bringing sunlight into all areas of the house. This home is the recipients of two awards from the 2025 WNC Parade of Homes, Including the Silver Craftsmanship award and the Green Innovation Award.

Spectrum Construction & Development, based out of Roxbury Twp., New Jersey is the recipient of the 2016 Awards of Excellence presented by the Metropolitan Builders & Contractors Association of New Jersey in the Custom Single-Family Home Category ($1,000,000 - $2,000,000) The homeowners moved to Morris County, New Jersey to be closer to their grown children and their families. They found a mid-century style home on a beautiful tree-lined street less than a mile away from their children's homes. Although the location was ideal and the corner lot perfectly situated for the homeowners, it was in disrepair and did not offer them the space, design features and finishes they wanted. Spectrum Construction arranged for the original home to be deconstructed with any salvageable material sold to the public for reuse or re-purposing. The custom 4-bedroom, 4.5-bath home that Spectrum Construction designed and built in its place combines country charm with modern elegance. This new home incorporates many unique features including the “drive through” two-car garage that allows the homeowners access to the converging streets. The massive first-floor master bedroom suite consists of a marble surround fireplace, 2 sizeable walk-in-closets as well as his and her luxurious master bathrooms. Two home offices provide the homeowners with ample room to take care of business. An elevator was installed to enable the homeowners and aging guests to easily and safely access the second floor. Abundant storage areas throughout the home, including the cavernous full basement, offer plenty of space to stow extra belongings. The second story was designed with the homeowners’ grandchildren in mind. The additional bedrooms, playroom and upstairs den make room for both daytime visits and overnight stays. Space for entertaining adult guests was also considered. The first floor includes a spacious great room with floor to ceiling stone fireplace which opens to a covered, screened-in back porch with a second stone fireplace. The stylish kitchen, containing two counter seating areas and an eat-in nook, along with the formal dining room give the homeowners plenty of room to accommodate large gatherings.

The IL-1 Beta table was a unique and personalized birthday gift for renowned scientist Charles DInarello. We were commissioned to build a custom gift to represent three defining elements of his life; the refining of IL-1 Beta, one of his first monumental scientific achievements; his love of gardening and outdoor living spaces; and his enthusiasm for entertaining guests and fitting as many people around his table as possible (both figuratively and literally). We combined these three defining elements, and designed an outdoor table, a courtyard centerpiece, that would represent IL-1 Beta and enhance the scientist’s garden parties. One of the most important and challenging design aspects of the IL-1Beta table were the pedestal legs. The recipient of this beautiful gift, Dr. Dinarello, loves entertaining guests, introducing strangers, and encouraging conversation, so we designed a table that could sit many and then add more. The pedestals are each composed of seven pieces of wood that had to be assembled in a precise order for strength, stability and beauty. The table stands delicately with just the tips of the pedestal legs touching the ground, like a couple mid-waltz, poised and strong and light on the dance floor.

Featuring All Weather custom aluminum windows and doors throughout, this gorgeous project was a recipient of a 2024 AIA Los Angeles Residential Architecture Award, which exemplifies the highest standards of design excellence, creative execution, and transformative impact on urban landscapes. Designed by Dimster Architecture, the 3 bedroom, 5 bath, 3,550 sq. ft. Santa Monica Modern residence sits on a 7,200 sq. ft. corner lot and stands out for its meticulous attention to detail and elegant curvature of its designs. An L-shaped scheme maximizes privacy towards the streets while exposing the interior to the garden and afternoon sun, encouraging indoor/outdoor living. The building mass is divided between two separate structures and is both articulated and accentuated with curved carvings. The sunken living room features 10-foot tall All Weather Series 8100 multi slide doors in stacking and pocketing configurations on two sides for a pavilion feeling and serves as both passive cooling and a direct connection to the yard and pool. By combining the kitchen, dining room and den, the home offers flexible spaces for entertaining, meditation, work and hobbies and the potential for future multi-generational living. A simple stair, concealed behind an open screen, leads to the second floor. Custom hanging mobile created for a private residence. Each semi-circular element spins independently. The recipient strategically placed the mobile below an air conditioning vent, providing plenty of airflow for the freely moving mobile. Mobile hangs 10 feet tall with a 5-foot span.
