Cockle Bay House Auckland, New Zealand During the design of their new home, the Powell’s had a specific colour pallet in mind for the exterior. This included contrasting dark vertical cladding to the top of the building with light coloured brick at the base. Vulcan Primed Cladding was chosen primarily due to it’s ability to perform with a dark colour in the harsh Auckland climate . The weatherboards were painted on site with Resene Mako CoolColour- with 15% LRV, this colour is much darker than allowed on other timber weatherboard products. The cladding continues to perform excellently with virtually no movement or warping.

The homeowners fell in love with this spectacular Lynnfield, MA Colonial farmhouse, complete with iconic New England style timber frame barn, grand outdoor fireplaced living space and in-ground pool. They bought the prestigious location with the desire to bring the home’s character back to life and at the same time, reconfigure the layout, expand the living space and increase the number of rooms to accommodate their needs as a family. These Auckland homeowners wanted an industrial style look for their interior home design. So when it came to building the staircase, handrail and balustrades, we knew the exposed steel in a matte black was going to be the right look for them. ​ Due to the double stringers and concrete treads, this style of staircase is extremely solid and has zero movement, massively reducing noise. Our biggest challenge on this project was that the double stringer staircase was designed with concrete treads that needed to be colour matched to the pre-existing floor.
