Home and Living Examiner said: Modern renovation by J Design Group is stunning J Design Group, an expert in luxury design, completed a new project in Tamarac, Florida, which involved the total interior remodeling of this home. We were so intrigued by the photos and design ideas, we decided to talk to J Design Group CEO, Jennifer Corredor. The concept behind the redesign was inspired by the client’s relocation. Andrea Campbell: How did you get a feel for the client's aesthetic? Jennifer Corredor: After a one-on-one with the Client, I could get a real sense of her aesthetics for this home and the type of furnishings she gravitated towards. The redesign included a total interior remodeling of the client's home. All of this was done with the client's personal style in mind. Certain walls were removed to maximize the openness of the area and bathrooms were also demolished and reconstructed for a new layout. This included removing the old tiles and replacing with white 40” x 40” glass tiles for the main open living area which optimized the space immediately. Bedroom floors were dressed with exotic African Teak to introduce warmth to the space. We also removed and replaced the outdated kitchen with a modern look and streamlined, state-of-the-art kitchen appliances. To introduce some color for the backsplash and match the client's taste, we introduced a splash of plum-colored glass behind the stove and kept the remaining backsplash with frosted glass. We then removed all the doors throughout the home and replaced with custom-made doors which were a combination of cherry with insert of frosted glass and stainless steel handles. All interior lights were replaced with LED bulbs and stainless steel trims, including unique pendant and wall sconces that were also added. All bathrooms were totally gutted and remodeled with unique wall finishes, including an entire marble slab utilized in the master bath shower stall. Once renovation of the home was completed, we proceeded to install beautiful high-end modern furniture for interior and exterior, from lines such as B&B Italia to complete a masterful design. One-of-a-kind and limited edition accessories and vases complimented the look with original art, most of which was custom-made for the home. To complete the home, state of the art A/V system was introduced. The idea is always to enhance and amplify spaces in a way that is unique to the client and exceeds his/her expectations. The Belfast Residence in Ohio is a new construction, custom modern house situated on a 150 acre farm. Panda solved the challenge of extending the intimate space of the kitchen into the expansiveness of the backyard by installing fully retractable TS.60 All Aluminum Thermally Broken Folding Door Systems. Custom designed for this space, this elegant and durable folding door system spans the entire wall of the kitchen. This door system uses cutting-edge aluminum extrusions with a polyamide bar to connect the frame together while reducing heat or cold transfer. When closed, this Bi-Fold door system provides a protective barrier that lowers u-factors, limits condensation, increases energy performance, and most of all reduces thermal conductivity. The architectural firm, Drawing Dept. designed a cantilevered roof reaching out over the pool on axis with a sunken fire pit, drawing the geometry of the house further out into the landscape. As a result, the heart of the home unrestrictedly extends toward the fire pit for optimal physical and visual connection. Impressive architectural design intertwined with Panda’s custom Bi-Fold doors can create unimaginable opportunities. The solution is a multi-split-level home with unconventional relationships between floor levels. Between the entrance level and the lower level of the family room, the kitchen and dining room are located on an interstitial level. Within the stair space “floats” a small bathroom. The generous stair is celebrated with a back-painted red glass wall which treats users to changing refractive ambient light throughout the house. Black brick, grey-tinted glass and mirrors contribute to the reasonably compact massing of the home. A cantilevered upper volume shades south facing windows and the home’s limited material palette meant a more efficient construction process. Cautious landscaping retains water run-off on the sloping site and home offices reduce the client’s use of their vehicle. Zoning regulations imposed a major constraint: demolishing the original structure would have drastically reduced the allowable square footage for new construction. As a result, the design was developed entirely within the existing foundation. What could have been a limitation became a catalyst for innovation. The new structure was intentionally secondary to the main house, maintaining a clear hierarchy while expanding spatial and functional possibilities. The lots are now joined and the driveway services both structures

A lush artificial grass lawn surrounds the pool area, offering year-round greenery, reduced maintenance, and family-friendly play space, while staying within municipal coverage limits and visually softening the hardscape elements.

The pool features a premium dark grey exposed aggregate Pebble Tec interior finish which gives it a pond look. An ultimate luxury is the automatic pool cover which retracts into a bunker in the deep end. It not only cuts back on pool cleaning chores but also reduces chemical use and heating costs.

The entrance door really makes an impact. The glass received a customised print using the latest direct-on-glass digital printing technology. The koru pattern is a welcoming symbol of unfolding. The feature wallpaper is Elitis Wallpaper Natives Maori. It runs floor to ceiling over two stories and provides the tone for the upstairs areas.

A combination of Texas persimmon, Turk’s cap, gulf muhly grass, orange zexmenia, gregg’s mistflower, and wooly stemodia create a soft, lush meadow planting that requires little water and provides habitat for a variety of birds and butterflies. A limited amount of photos were taken because we were having such a good time with the clients!

This heavily treed hillside location is the perfect place for an auto cover. When the pool is not in use it keeps leaves and debris out, but more importantly acts as a safety cover for wayward children and pets. Additional benefits include reduced heat loss, water evaporation and chemical use. Plus, it cuts down on pool chores.

Personal privacy was a large consideration in the design. Placement of windows limit direct views into each neighbor’s home. We capitalized on the site’s topography - not only is there horizontal distance between the houses, there is vertical distance. Because of the height, width, and space, privacy feels more conventional despite the close proximity of the buildings. House 4 in the background was not only built around the tree, but sunken into the site to reduce the perceived scale of this 1800 square foot home. A portion of the house seems to float in space - a dog run intentionally bridges the gap from the garage to the main living space to avoid impact with the tree roots and preserve the life of the oak tree.
