The grommet top panels pick up the gray from the banding color of the valances in the adjoining room to keep the space cohesive, yet with it's own personality. It gently frame and finish the bump out windows without reducing the limited light.

The six-story structure was created to house the “Korean Experience” within the 2010 World Exposition. The exterior features the Korean alphabet in various sizes and transparencies in a collage offset with digitally printed metal panels. The interior features pixelated mountains and the Han River running through the exhibit area along with live performance venues, VIP lounge and restaurants. A unique tension façade support system comprised of a thin net of vertical and horizontal rods reduce the visual massing of the support members. The two-sided composite cladding is finished on both sides with a high gloss architectural coating, while the inside surface of the cladding acts as a reflector for the LED lights within the wall cavity. We utilized digital printing technology to recreate pixelated art images to support the architect’s design vision.

While there are many design elements that can be considered “biophilic” that could be incorporated into a space as part of a biophilic program including views of the outdoors (specifically views of nature) as seen through windows and skylights and natural plant life throughout the space, the element that we will focus on in this catalog is biophilic or nature-based wall art. The evidence suggests that photorealistic images of nature can have the same impact and will produce the same benefits as actual views of nature. Click on the next picture to continue reading………..

In this teen's bedroom, with cathedral ceilings, the same blue wall color was used for the ceiling and the walls, to maximize the feeling of space. A contrast ceiling would have brought the eye down to the low point in the room. Large Louver shutters provide privacy and light control, allowing in sufficient light, while reducing the view of the parking lot out front. Sports posters, trophies, and other prints were placed and hung on the walls after they were painted.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN LOOKING FOR BIOPHILIC WALL ART While you’ll never go wrong by choosing nature-based images, there are particular scenes, colors and styles that will produce the greatest biophilic impact in your space. First and foremost, realistic photographic images of nature or nature scenes tend to produce the most robust biophilic benefits. Realistic scenes stimulate a person’s imagination in a gentle and comforting way, allowing his or her mind to calmly wander through a familiar view. When people look at photographs, they think to themselves, “I’ve never been there before but I know that this is a place that exists and I want to go there”.

One of the primary requisites for the new design is that it needed to be soundproof. Therefore, innovative acoustic materials were chosen for the home office, kitchen, dining and living areas. In the living room, the black wall behind the TV has acoustic panelling, which is ideal for reducing the noise level in the space.

Soft lighting was used to reduce the shadows in between the heart shaped petals of the plant but still show the depth needed to showcase the symmetry of the overall bloom.
