Here you see the playhouse that is used regularly by the kids. The Puppy, Ginny, relaxes underneath in the shade on hot summer afternoons.
This is an example of a small traditional full sun backyard landscaping in San Diego.

These library cabinets are truly elegant, featuring fluted pilasters with carved capitals and an arched applied molding with raised burl panels on the upper frame. The lower door panels also have walnut burl. The room is completed with matching wainscoting, interior door pair door case, base mold, and crown.

This beautiful home is used regularly by our Calgary clients during the weekends in the resort town of Fernie, B.C. While the floor plan offered ample space to entertain and relax, the finishes needed updating desperately. The original kitchen felt too small for the space which features stunning vaults and timber frame beams. With a complete overhaul, the newly redesigned space now gives justice to the impressive architecture. A combination of rustic and industrial selections have given this home a brand new vibe, and now this modern cabin is a showstopper once again! Design: Susan DeRidder of Live Well Interiors Inc. Variations of materials implemented compose a pure color palette by their varying degrees of white and gray, while luminescent Italian Calacutta marble provides the narrative in this sleek master bathroom that is reminiscent of a hi-end spa, where the minimal distractions of modern lines create a haven for relaxation. This porch is outdoor living at its best. Light and airy, this room is an extension of the family room and the kitchen. The mahogany doors open wide to let traffic flow in or out and the transom windows above the doors provide extra light inside. The painted flooring is a nice complement to the white butt board walls and painted blue ceiling. Gorgeous and relaxing. Bring on the sweet tea.

A steam shower is exactly what the name implies: warm, concentrated steam dispersed around the bather’s body — just like water vapor permeates a bathroom after a long, hot shower. Experiencing steam showers on a regular basis can promote numerous health and wellness benefits, including stress relief, muscle relaxation and clearer airways.

Originally this side patio was simply a barren cement patch that was cold and uninviting (see the BEFORE picture). It has a basic stone and concrete patio floor, with concrete brick walls. There was some natural bamboo behind the wall, but otherwise no plants. The house sits down in to the property, and to get to the front door you have to descend a steep set of stairs. This patio area is one of the first things people see as they descend the stairs to the front door, so we wanted to make it as inviting and cozy as possible. Plus, with all the natural tree coverage, it's a perfect place during hot days to curl up with a book or glass of wine under the shade. Not wanting to spend money on a massive renovation, the goal was to create a cozy niche for both entertaining guests and personal relaxation, reminiscent of an India-meets-Bali exotic retreat. We created something that was organic and natural looking, in harmony with the relaxed environment of Laguna Beach. To keep it budget friendly - and better for the environment - we also opted for recycled and pre-owned items we found on Craiglist and eBay. I chose to first mask the barren concrete walls with an carved wood screen from India, to add depth and interest. I placed two large daybeds with heavily padded cushions in an “L” shape to entice people to curl up and sink in. Rather than opting for a regular square patio table, I found a one-of-a-kind custom oak tree slab table (a fantastic Craiglist find!) that added a beautiful organic feel. The Moroccan lamp I brought back from one of my trips to Marrakech, and it added the perfect personal touch, in addition to personal sacred objects such as an antique Kwan Yin statue (great eBay find), crystals, and shells found at the beach. Finally, various plants were added — including both a satsuma orange tree and grapefruit tree that add lovely bursts of color when in season. And makes for a great quick snack when lounging about!

"The Marin lounge collection embodies both relaxation and sophistication, with a slim mid-century design and a gentle recline. This is no regular outdoor seating - an indoor foam core means you'll get the same comfort you'd expect from a regular sofa, but protected by an internal waterproof barrier, and weather- and UV-resistant Sunbrella upholstery without. The aluminum frame is sourced from the most durable raw materials, then treated with a 5-step powder coating process which provides excellent protection against corrosion and the outdoor elements while retaining a velvety smooth finish.

The new floor plan design made more effective use of the space, accommodating multiple needs into the kitchen. The Butler’s Pantry leads into the dining room, along with space for a coffee and liquor bar and a much-needed mudroom.
