This lower level space was inspired by Film director, write producer, Quentin Tarantino. Starting with the acoustical panels disguised as posters, with films by Tarantino himself. We included a sepia color tone over the original poster art and used this as a color palate them for the entire common area of this lower level. New premium textured carpeting covers most of the floor, and on the ceiling, we added LED lighting, Madagascar ebony beams, and a two-tone ceiling paint by Sherwin Williams. The media stand houses most of the AV equipment and the remaining is integrated into the walls using architectural speakers to comprise this 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos Setup. We included this custom sectional with performance velvet fabric, as well as a new table and leather chairs for family game night. The XL metal prints near the new regulation pool table creates an irresistible ambiance, also to the neighboring reclaimed wood dart board area. The bathroom design include new marble tile flooring and a premium frameless shower glass. The luxury chevron wallpaper gives this space a kiss of sophistication. Finalizing this lounge we included a gym with rubber flooring, fitness rack, row machine as well as custom mural which infuses visual fuel to the owner’s workout. The Everlast speedbag is positioned in the perfect place for those late night or early morning cardio workouts. Lastly, we included Polk Audio architectural ceiling speakers meshed with an SVS micros 3000, 800-Watt subwoofer.

Seamus built his court and installed the Pro Dunk Gold Basketball System himself. In Ledyard, CT - this playing area is 30' wide x 30' deep and is labeled with NCAA-regulation lines. Seamus tells us that the court and hoop directly contributed to huge improvements to his 12-year old son's basketball skills. He even made the local AAU team the next season. His two girls (ages 5 and 8) also use the court to ride their bikes and scooters. Overall, "It was a great investment." This is a Pro Dunk Gold in CT: Great Investment that was purchased in April of 2013. It was installed on a 30 ft wide by a 30 ft deep playing area in Ledyard, CT. Our clients wanted to make improvements to their existing crushed driveway. Zoning regulations in this Rhode Island coastal community required the driveway paving to be permeable to manage stormwater and runoff.
D'Urso Landscaping along with DJR Construction completed the excavation and installation of a permeable paver system in 2024 and it has improved the usability of the driveway, has eliminated stormwater puddling and runoff, looks fantastic and has increased the value of this coastal home.

This four-time award-winning St. Michael’s property is a contemporary gem on the water. The owners of the property originally intended to renovate an existing ’80s structure, but soon realized it was beyond repair. Our team commenced a full tear down and rebuild on the existing footprint to keep with county regulations for waterfront structures. The result is a modern take on the lake house, a light-filled sanctuary built with integrity to stand the tests of time and the elements. Nestled at the end of a long flag lot driveway in Amagansett, NY, a young couple purchased the property with intentions to construct a second home for their growing family. A home that would not only be comfortable for the immediate family but also serve and grow on busy summer weekends to accommodate extended family, friends, children and guests. The tight lot along with the sizable program culminated in the building envelope being pushed to every limit, restriction and regulation one could imagine. The resulting architecture possesses a traditional Hamptons cottage exterior juxtaposed with modern elements that help break up the single mass. Centered on the entry façade is a large double story window that shrouds the floating switchback staircase on the interior. A bluestone patio wraps three sides of the home, which, in the rear, leads to a small in ground pool with a frameless glass railing. In the interior, custom white washed white oak floors run throughout the home as well as on the floating central staircase. For a more modern style of living, the open living, kitchen and dining area serve as one large entertaining space. In an area surrounded by sprawling Mcmansions, this tightly knit home functions more similar to that of a large NYC apartment by serving the perfect balance between maximized form with the right amount of function given the strict parameters. Large glass sliders open the living and dining rooms to the backyard patio and pool creating harmony between the indoor and outdoor spaces. Shaker style cabinets in the kitchen pair with a more contemporary staircase softened by the warmer wood tones of the vertical slats that surround it.

The clean lines, and bold design covered in black perfectly frame this pool area, and work to transform this suburban backyard, into an updated, modern outdoor space.

Wow! Love the way that the light passes through the circular skylight and plays on the clay wall.

The challenge was getting approval to build the place the new stand alone garage strategically on the property line so as not to crowd the house but also to not violate zoning regulations of the city. Designing and building a kitchen addition is a complex process that involves multiple steps and considerations. Here is a general outline to help you get started on your kitchen addition project:
Define Your Goals and Budget:

• Establish a realistic budget for your project. Consider all costs, including construction, permits, materials, and furnishings.
Hire a Design Professional:
• Seek the services of a design build company who specializes in kitchen additions.
• Discuss your vision, needs, and budget with the design professional to create a design concept.
Site Evaluation:
• Assess the existing space and structural condition of your home to ensure it can support the addition.
• Consider factors like zoning regulations, setbacks, and building codes.
Design Development:
• Collaborate with your design professional to refine the concept, including the layout, size, and architectural style.
• Choose materials, finishes, and fixtures that fit your design and budget.
Obtain Permits:
• Consult with your local design build contractor to determine the necessary permits and approvals.
• Prepare and submit all required documents, including architectural drawings and engineering plans.
Create Construction Documents:
• Work with your design build professional to develop detailed construction drawings and specifications.
• These documents will serve as a guide for contractors during construction.
Hire a design build contractor:
• Check references, credentials, and licenses before selecting a contractor.
• Sign a detailed contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment schedule.
Construction Phase:
• Demolition: If needed, remove any existing structures or walls.
• Foundation: Construct the foundation for the addition.
• Framing: Build the structural framework of the addition.
• Plumbing, Electrical, and HVAC: Install or update utilities as required.
• Insulation: Ensure proper insulation for energy efficiency.
• Drywall and Finish Work: Complete the walls and ceilings.
• Flooring and Cabinetry: Install flooring and kitchen cabinets.
• Appliances and Fixtures: Add appliances, plumbing fixtures, and lighting.
• Paint and Finish: Apply paint and finishes to achieve the desired look.
• Final Inspection: Schedule inspections to ensure compliance with building codes.
Final Inspections and Approvals:
• Arrange for final inspections to ensure the addition meets all safety and code requirements.
• Obtain any necessary certificates of occupancy or compliance.
Move In and Enjoy:
• Once all inspections and approvals are received, you can move into your new kitchen addition and start enjoying it.
Remember that every kitchen addition project is unique, so adapt this outline to your specific needs and circumstances. Consulting with professionals and obtaining the required permits and inspections is crucial to a successful and safe project.

Located near the foot of the Teton Mountains, the site and a modest program led to placing the main house and guest quarters in separate buildings configured to form outdoor spaces. With mountains rising to the northwest and a stream cutting through the southeast corner of the lot, this placement of the main house and guest cabin distinctly responds to the two scales of the site. The public and private wings of the main house define a courtyard, which is visually enclosed by the prominence of the mountains beyond. At a more intimate scale, the garden walls of the main house and guest cabin create a private entry court.
A concrete wall, which extends into the landscape marks the entrance and defines the circulation of the main house. Public spaces open off this axis toward the views to the mountains. Secondary spaces branch off to the north and south forming the private wing of the main house and the guest cabin. With regulation restricting the roof forms, the structural trusses are shaped to lift the ceiling planes toward light and the views of the landscape.

We had to completely re-arrange the layout to accommodate a dishwasher. This required putting the sink at the end which actually worked out well as it is situated in front of the window. We are limited with heritage regulations on expansion, thus we had to make do with an awkward space. Cabinets, sink, quartz counters and appliances from Ikea. Tea towel from Anthropologie.
