In order to help the homeowners achieve their vision Heather, our designer, knew that some walls needed to be removed. We removed one L-shaped wall to open up the kitchen area to the rest of the home, this relieved high traffic areas in the home and improved the flow of the main level tremendously. We also removed a closet to help maximize their space. We added a mudroom off of the kitchen with lockers for easy organization of the kid’s backpacks, coats, and shoes.
The homeowners had some specific ideas in mind for the style of the kitchen. They wanted two-toned shaker cabinets, white backsplash with a unique design, and they requested large floor tiles. Heather helped them through the selection process and they happily landed on:
- Light Maple Upper Cabinets
- Dark Maple Lower Cabinets
- White Subway Tile Backsplash in a Herringbone
Pattern
- Large 17x35 porcelain tile flooring
- Light Granite Counter Tops

Simply timeless. Our iconic, top-selling Cairo Chair is an essential mid-century mod design element. Featuring a recyclable, molded plastic base, Cairo was designed for comfort, durability and style.
Although it looks simple, the advanced design of the seat actually cradles the body, relieving pressure on the legs.
Made from recyclable, ecologically friendly ABS plastic, in white and black.

Mojo Stumer Associates used a custom Tibetan carpet with a linocutlike pattern of wavy lines to relieve the solid blocks of white brick, wood panels, and gray upholstery in this study.

Others may try, but no one can match the superior materials and craftsmanship of our smooth adjusting Zero-gravity Recliner Chair. Modeled after the NASA-recognized zero-gravity position, the position naturally assumed by astronauts in space, our newly enhanced recliner leans further back and locks into position, reducing pressure on your spine, relieving muscle tension, and improving circulation.

Among the homeowners design requirements was to make the bathtub the focal point, simple in aesthetics, but with a deep bathing well and a bubble massage feature. A Kohler Underscore BubbleMassage tub was selected because of its 22" depth and stress relieving qualities.

View from the Northwest. This home is built with high performance walls and roofs, resulting in a very well insulated and tightly sealed home. We implemented a combined heating approach of passive solar and radiant hydronic floor heating, which we call “Sun Smart Radiant Heating.” This system sensibly captures the sun’s energy on sunny days and has two added benefits. The radiant system distributes the sun’s heat uniformly throughout the home and also produces heat during long stretches of cloudy days or extreme cold. This dual heating method is not only incredibly energy efficient, it relieves any worries homeowners may have about living in a home that is heated with passive solar alone.
During the warmer months, the Quinn Creek Home is designed to benefit from passive cooling, a free home air-conditioning strategy. Also, carefully designed roof overhangs and awnings prevent unwanted solar heat gain in the summer.
The windows used for both passive solar heating and passive cooling, provide beautiful views and connect the inhabits to the ephemeral qualities of the outdoors. The experience of living in a passive solar home changes from day to day, season to season. The windows also provide ample natural day lighting, even on cloudy days, which significantly reduces electric lighting costs and reduces the occurrence of falls and depression within the home.
The surrounding mountain and hillside slopes of the Quinn Creek Home were carefully analyzed and integrated into the design and roof pitches. Even though this photo is in color, winter light conditions often create a black-and-white-like effect. The darker and lighter colored metal siding and roofing colors were purposefully chosen to help the home blend with the environment during the changing seasons.
