I have worked with these homeowners for years and truly love their Transitional style. For their Dining Room, we had great furniture pieces with which to work. I love the inlay on the tabletop and the design on the chair backs. Instead of one large china hutch, they selected two tall cabinets placed side by side along the back wall – I adore this look. At this point, they needed to finish the room off, and this is where we came in. We added wainscoting below the existing chair rail. All of the white in the room allowed us to do a strong wall color above the chair rail. We selected Sherwin Williams’ Armadillo (SW6190) which was recently featured as one of our Colors of The Month. This color tone is represented in other fabrics and accessories throughout the home which is important for flow and the fact that all the rooms are open to one another. We selected a fabric with a modern design for the drapery panels and added abstract artwork to the walls. This updated take on a lantern is the perfect chandelier for the space. We finished the table off with a long metallic boat tray filled with interesting succulents.
This stunning Dining Room truly represents these homeowners’ Transitional style and proves that it does not have to be cool or modern. This is a warm and inviting space filled with interesting touches. Enjoy other Dining Rooms that we have designed here and here.

The main kitchen sink has a purpose of usefulness, as well as design. With the copper front, the sink connects with the Japanese design the client wanted. The light is similar to the other lights in the kitchen, representing old monastery bells. Finally, the large window opens to the outdoors with the homeowners large garden. This kitchen perfectly represents the homeowner's design preferences, creating a gorgeous kitchen.

This holiday table setting is for Luxury Living USA -Fendi Casa Table. It was our honored and privileged to be asked to design their holiday table at their Beverly Hills' Flagship Store. The color board for this table encompasses bronze, black, gold and hint of green. It is a table unlike any other traditional holiday tables but then again Fendi is not just any luxury brand. This is the brand that started as a fashion house into the world’s most known home good furnishings. To truly represent Fendi at this table, we must go beyond the holiday traditional ideas and break the mold a little. It was important for us to bring into this table all the elements that truly represents Fendi without comprising the look of it.

The fact that this home is in a development called Providence now seems perfectly fitting. Chris, the owner, was merely considering the possibility of downsizing from a formal residence outside Atlanta when he happened on the small complex of luxury brownstones under construction in nearby Roswell. “I wandered into The Providence by chance and loved what I saw. The developer, his wife, and the agent were there and discussing how Cantoni was going to finish out one of the units, and so we all started talking,” Chris explains “They asked if I wanted to meet with the designer from Cantoni, and suggested I could customize the home as I saw fit, and that did it for me. I was sold.”
Cantoni was originally approached by Mike and Joy Walsh, of Lehigh Homes, to create a contemporary model home to be featured on the Roswell Woman’s Club home tour. “Since Chris bought the brownstone right after we agreed to do the design work,” Lorna Hunter recalls, “we brought him in on the meetings with the architects to help finalize the layout.” From selecting tile and counter tops, to designing the kitchen and baths, to the furniture, art and even linens—Cantoni was involved with every phase of the project. “This home really represents the complete range of design and staging services we offer at Cantoni,” says Lorna. “Rooms were reconfigured to allow for changes Chris found appealing, and every tile and doorknob was thoughtfully chosen to complete the overall look.”
Chris found an easy rapport with Lorna. “I have always been drawn to contemporary décor,” he explains, “ so Lorna and I hit it off immediately.” Among the custom design ideas the two conceived for the 2,600 sq. ft. 3/3 brownstone: creating a “wing wall” (open on both sides) to form a sitting area adjacent to the guest room
downstairs, removing the elevator to enhance a sense of openness while leaving the 3-story shaft as a unique focal point, and choosing to expand the height of windows on the third level to maximize the flow of natural light.
The Providence is ideally located near quaint shops, great restaurants, jogging trails and a scenic river—not to mention it’s just four miles from Chris’ office. The project represents the breadth and depth of Cantoni’s in-house creative resources, and proves again that GREAT DESIGN IS A WAY OF LIFE.

The IL-1 Beta table was a unique and personalized birthday gift for renowned scientist Charles DInarello. We were commissioned to build a custom gift to represent three defining elements of his life; the refining of IL-1 Beta, one of his first monumental scientific achievements; his love of gardening and outdoor living spaces; and his enthusiasm for entertaining guests and fitting as many people around his table as possible (both figuratively and literally). We combined these three defining elements, and designed an outdoor table, a courtyard centerpiece, that would represent IL-1 Beta and enhance the scientist’s garden parties.
One of the most important and challenging design aspects of the IL-1Beta table were the pedestal legs. The recipient of this beautiful gift, Dr. Dinarello, loves entertaining guests, introducing strangers, and encouraging conversation, so we designed a table that could sit many and then add more. The pedestals are each composed of seven pieces of wood that had to be assembled in a precise order for strength, stability and beauty. The table stands delicately with just the tips of the pedestal legs touching the ground, like a couple mid-waltz, poised and strong and light on the dance floor.

You might have heard the expression “strong as Oak” somewhere before. Although this saying might make you think it is talking about the strong physical attributes of the tree; like the storm-resistant trunk or the strong root system, it is actually referring to something deeper than that. Five Star Tree Services is here to dive deep into the ancient history of this magnificent tree!
Throughout Greek mythology and time, the Oak tree has continuously been represented as a symbol of wisdom. It has also been the embodiment of time, strength, and wisdom. The Greeks have linked the oldest oak tree, which surpassed 300 years old, as Zeus, the God of Thunder.
When we talk about this tree outside of all the symbolism it represents, it also has many other useful uses for us and animals as well. This includes things like having a strong root system that aids against erosion, producing acorns that feed farm animals, very strong wood that we can use for furniture, bringing beauty to any yard, and being a good home for wildlife.
This particular tree is easy to spot amongst many others. You can depict an Oak tree by the iconic broad canopy, multi pointed leaves, and strong branches coming from the trunk. At full maturity, these trees stretch out as much as they get tall. Meaning that these trees are perfect for hanging swings, providing plenty of shade, or partake in a lovely family picnic.
Oak trees are probably the most well-known and famous trees in the world. This is due to all the people who love the overall look of the tree, history, and symbolism. This tree is depicted throughout history and also has appeared in some of Hollywood’s movies. You may have seen the movie Forrest Gump and might have noticed a big beautiful tree with a couple different scenes. The Oak tree appears in the movie for the scene where Forrest and Jenny are kids and sitting on a low hanging branch. In another scene, you get to see a row of oaks and the iconic scene of “run Forrest, run”. As well as at the end of the movie where Forrest has Jenny buried. Throughout this movie, the Oak tree symbolizes strength and at-home consistency.
If you are thinking about planting one of these majestic trees, you are going to need to seriously consider the placement of the permanent location where this tree will stay for its whole life. You need to think about the future growth of this tree and make accommodations for how big and wide it will get. This means thinking hundreds of years into the future and planning accordingly.
Maintaining this magnificent tree is a necessity for its longevity, overall aesthetic, and for safety reasons. It will require a full pruning every couple of years and yearly fertilization in order to give the Oak tree the best care possible and to help it last many lifetimes.

GAO Zhiqiang: Exploring the infinite possibilities beyond boundaries - Space Emotion Design Series - Vniau Office
The essence of space design is to pay attention to people’s emotional needs, especially in office designs.
Vniau office is designed by GAO Zhiqiang, a space emotion designer. He created an extremely comfortable and inclusive office space by modern design tech-niques, combined with technology, history and humanities.
/ Explore /
Infinite possibilities beyond boundaries
A humanistic caring, warm and emotional design work, under the continuous changes of social forms, evolves into a space in accordance with the develop-ment of the current era, which is the most solid response from the designer to the space.
This open space makes you feel like entering into a movie scene. Large areas of black and white contrast, and smooth lines create a powerful aura. However, soft lights bring back a romantic atmosphere. The space is highlighted by vir-tuality and reality.
The development of modern technology diversified people’s cognition and iden-tification of space dimension. The designer tries to break the inherent bound-ary consciousness among technology, humanities and nature by comfortable and efficient spatial perception.
Wandering between virtual and real, light and shadow, the space presents a fu-ture sense through symbols. It shows a bold, free, open, lush, and new office format.
"Compared with technology, we pay more attention to people's emotions and feelings. We have always been advocating using the most common materials to create different spaces, and the key is depended on design." Said designer GAO Zhiqiang.
Therefore, when it came to the selection of materials, pureness presents in-finity, simplicity creates richness. Bright green brings cheerfulness, and the exposed ceiling and cloud-like chandeliers create a natural and agile visual perception. The combination of dynamic and stillness embodies the concentra-tion of the designer.
As the previous office was in Chinese style with redwood furniture, in order to have good effect of the overall space, the designer discussed with the own-er repeatedly, strive to change into a modern style, which matches more with their products, clients, competitors, brand culture and temperament of the of-fice, younger staff, etc., in the end, this design shows up.
This is a ring-shaped office space with same walls and same core tubes, which make people easily disoriented. By the principle of 5 elements - metal, wood, water, fire and earth, the designer placed the reception and exhibition room in the middle, and painted in yellow, corresponding to central earth.
According to this principle, the R & D department on the east side is decorat-ed in green, corresponding to wood, also, the market and finance department on the south side is orange, corresponding to fire. Service department on the west is white color representing metal, CEO and QC office on the north side is given black color, representing water. 5 directions are painted in 5 colors, which make people clearly distinguish departments and directions.
The building wall of the void area has a huge sloped beam, which causes poor visual experience. To solve this problem, the designer creates a magnificent X-shaped style by making use of the original beam structure. Its perforated sides and the luminous aluminum plates are very sci-fi, showing a similar vision of X-Men headquarters.
The interaction, communication and intersection among people are the key points of designing moving lines. Their optimization brings closer collaboration among departments, shorten the distance that people have to walk in the space, such as in conference rooms, negotiation rooms, recreation area, water bar, reception area.
Reasonable moving lines make discussion and communication between people, de-partments, and customers more efficient. At the same time, different spaces create different atmospheres and emotions, relax, or serious, or leisurable, etc., so as to meet needs of different moments.
In addition, the designer GAO Zhiqiang said, "We want to create a feeling of flowing clouds. Lights and curves create moving lines, and give a sense of freedom."
To remove the shackles of traditional office designs, and give a space infi-nite vitality is not just a change in form, it is more about 'people' them-selves. Here, everyone has a very large degree of freedom, and they can feel the infinite possibilities of future. Initiative and creativity are stimulated at the same time. Once people create the environment, areas interact with each other, and the power of design emerges.
Soft curve is a visual expression of tolerance and infinite possibilities. The spatial layout breaks isolation and shortens the distance of human hearts. High efficiency while no boundaries, and everywhere has space for independent thinking and solitude. The space respects each individual and can also unit as a whole.
Gaudi, the most famous Spanish architect, once said that straight lines belong to human, and curves belong to the God. It is probably that the curves give birth to too many wonderful changes. In this space, the curves are formed smoothly, either on the ground or ceiling, or a room, a partition.
"Spatial emotion design" advocates bringing human attributes to spatial func-tions. By designing and shaping the space, people are able to work in the best state of physiological and psychological emotions. Therefore, AFFD is trying their best to create comfortable working environments for employees, to ensure efficient work, as well as physical and mental health of staff.
