This was complete renovation of a small rambler. Some spaces were completely reconfigured, while others, only cosmetically changed, but, overall, every square foot of this home was updated. Tatka Home was responsible with every single element of interior design, as well as exterior paint, lighting and hardware. On the inside, every detail was painstakingly coordinated, from the baseboards to the ceiling finish. The result is a beautiful, cozy and very livable space!

Pineapple House maximized storage in the large island via drawers and compartments. They incorporated shelves with baskets that are accessible to the family's small children. These baskets allow the little ones access to their own their plates and utensils, which gives them a sense of responsibility in the kitchen when it is time to set the table and put away dishes. Good habits can start early! Beyond the island, the glimmering tiles of the backsplash are not hindered by cabinetry, and they are a strong focal point in the room. You will see in the following pictures that the dark walls that flank the tiled walls are both shallow cabinets that serve to hold spices. Scott Moore Photography

context The site is an existing Cape on Oyster Pond Road in Falmouth. The existing 1930's Cape had been renovated but the attached barn in the back had not. response The new addition is a typical barn form containing an open living/dining area, new kitchen and master suite above. High up on a bluff overlooking Wellfleet Harbor and the Cape Cod National Seashore we designed the clients program to include – swimming pool, spa, outdoor kitchen and bar area, multiple fire features, outdoor shower, and a relaxing lounge area protected from the elements. We were responsible for strategically navigating through a complex permitting process including conservation. We also had the pleasure of working with a dynamite team of subcontractors for the electrical, lighting and pool installation.

This house was designed for a couple that wanted a residence that suited their lives: centered on travel, gardening and entertaining their friends and family. The property is adjacent to a busy intersection that generates a high amount of noise and limits privacy. In response, the house is designed around two courts: an entry court for cars and visitors that screens the living areas from the street; and a garden court in the rear of the lot that is made private by the arrangement of the rooms around the garden, providing those rooms with an intimate view into the garden and lap pool.
