The kitchen design concept is a collaboration between Interior Designer Jamie Belew and Architect David Armour who adapted the home’s original service kitchen to create a contemporary Catering Kitchen and Service Lounge. Sansa Interiors transformed this loft into an oasis focused on witnessing beautiful sunsets. The layout allows for light to come through and disperse, utilizing daylighting. All the finishes used are subtle and soft so that our clients can rest after a long day of work while sharing a sunset moment with others. It was very important that we pick earthy finishes, and emphasize greenery within the space so that it gives a fresh and warm feel. We injected a dose of fun and personality into this small loft. There are a lot of ways to spruce up a space without over crowding it with decor, our approach was to go for all things simple.

After many years of careful consideration and planning, these clients came to us with the goal of restoring this home’s original Victorian charm while also increasing its livability and efficiency. From preserving the original built-in cabinetry and fir flooring, to adding a new dormer for the contemporary master bathroom, careful measures were taken to strike this balance between historic preservation and modern upgrading. Behind the home’s new exterior claddings, meticulously designed to preserve its Victorian aesthetic, the shell was air sealed and fitted with a vented rainscreen to increase energy efficiency and durability.
