This is an example of a mid-sized contemporary hillside retaining wall landscape in Los Angeles.

The transformation from a registered landslide hillside to a stunning garden oasis, is truly breathtaking. The pool was updated and the Corten steel arbor cleverly cantilevered on this 5 acre property. Using a crib wall system (Slope Block) allowed us to create lush terraces from toe to top - garden pathways lined with boulders create the illusion they were always there. The Slope Block was acid stained and planted so they eye can see just a hint of the bones through the lush California and Australian native plants and trees.

The back garden is grounded with multiple seating and entertaining areas, enclosed with large perennial beds featuring shades of purples. Each turn around the garden, high lights a different vista or focal point. From the golf course in the distance, water features or bountiful blooms.

Beyond Midnight™ Caryopteris has extremely dark, glossy foliage and deep blue flowers. Its compact habit is excellent for residential landscapes and mass plantings. Butterflies and hummingbirds love the late summer flowers.

Slow growing, 15 to 30 ft. tall and 15 ft. wide. Partial to full sun. Slower growing than the native Colorado spruce, this semi-dwarf selection is useful for smaller landscapes and confined spaces. Dense, eye-catching silvery blue-green foliage holds its color well. Growing only a few inches per year, it develops a broad, pyramidal form. Evergreen.
