We used the timber frame of a century old barn to build this rustic modern house. The barn was dismantled, and reassembled on site. Inside, we designed the home to showcase as much of the original timber frame as possible. Photography by Todd Crawford

This kitchen makes everyone want to spend time cooking. The palette was kept light with whites, grays and slate blue. This custom backsplash of ceramic tiles in varying hues of white and gray balances the quartzite countertops. We focused on a rustic modern aesthetic, the brass hardware on the cabinetry is repeated throughout on the acrylic counter stools and mixed metal pendants

Inspiration for a transitional bedroom remodel in Denver

The lower level of this modern farmhouse features a large game room that connects out to the screen porch, pool terrace and fire pit beyond. One end of the space is a large lounge area for watching TV and the other end has a built-in wet bar and accordion windows that open up to the screen porch. Copper panels play to the warm tones in the stone slab countertops while travertine clad walls lend texture to the room.
