Example of a large country enclosed concrete floor and gray floor family room design in Charlotte with no fireplace and a concealed tv

Mill Spring Modern FarmhouseFarmhouse Family Room, Charlotte

The lower level of this modern farmhouse features a large game room that connects out to the screen porch, pool terrace and fire pit beyond. One end of the space is a large lounge area for watching TV and the other end has a built-in wet bar and accordion windows that open up to the screen porch. The TV is concealed by barn doors with salvaged barn wood on a shiplap wall.

The cable plug, outlets, etc are placed mid-wall behind the television and all the wires are hidden behind the TV. Glad you like it and thanks for the question!

I believe it was sourced from a local company in Western NC called Appalachian Antique Hardwoods. The wood is gray oak barn wood. Thanks for your question!

The wood is not white washed, it is reclaimed oak barn wood. Thanks for your question!

10. Barn doors. Salvaged barn wood shiplap creates a warm accent wall in this family room. Mounting modern technology on top of it was not the most pleasant juxtaposition of old and new.

On the other side of the game room is a wall of salvaged barn wood with matching doors that can slide to conceal the TV. The homeowners plan to make this house their forever home one day and therefore wanted it to include several green building features, including a solar panel array on the roof, geothermal heating and an EnergyStar certification. “This is a mountain-modern home that will eventually, as the couple gets closer to retirement, become much more than a getaway,” McPherson says.More home tours: Apartments | Small Homes | Colorful Homes | Contemporary Homes | Eclectic Homes | Farmhouses | Midcentury Homes | Modern Homes | Ranch Homes | Traditional Homes | Transitional Homes | All

hide the TV behind two panels that come together and maybe form a Diptych.
