Kitchen - transitional kitchen idea in Omaha

This traditional home contained an outdated kitchen, eating area, powder room, pantry and laundry area. The spaces were reconfigured so that the kitchen occupied all of the space. What was once an opening into an under utilized hallway, became a pantry closet. A full bathroom was tucked behind the pantry into space from the breezeway.

The client desired a kitchen that fit her modern day needs but complimented the historic character of her 1920's home. By using classic inspired finishes such as 3x6 subway and a quartz with a vein appearance of natural marble, the desire for a historic flair but with practical appeal was achieved. In this photo you see the wall closing the kitchen off from the sun porch was removed to expand the space allowing the natural light to flood the space and allowing for all of the space to know be functional and giving the client a larger kitchen then she thought was possible in this home. The island slab measures just over 9 ft in length!

This full basement renovation included adding a mudroom area, media room, a bedroom, a full bathroom, a game room, a kitchen, a gym and a beautiful custom wine cellar. Our clients are a family that is growing, and with a new baby, they wanted a comfortable place for family to stay when they visited, as well as space to spend time themselves. They also wanted an area that was easy to access from the pool for entertaining, grabbing snacks and using a new full pool bath.We never treat a basement as a second-class area of the house. Wood beams, customized details, moldings, built-ins, beadboard and wainscoting give the lower level main-floor style. There’s just as much custom millwork as you’d see in the formal spaces upstairs. We’re especially proud of the wine cellar, the media built-ins, the customized details on the island, the custom cubbies in the mudroom and the relaxing flow throughout the entire space.

This tiny kitchen was barely usable by a busy mom with 3 young kids. We were able to remove two walls and open the kitchen into an unused space of the home and make this the focal point of the home the clients had always dreamed of! Hidden on the back side of this peninsula are 3 cubbies, one for each child to store their backpacks and lunch boxes for school. The fourth cubby contains a charging station for the families electronics.

The kitchen's footprint did not change much; other than the Black Magma granite peninsula overhang. Note how the kneewall to the right is wrapped and painted to match its counterpart supporting the peninsula. The handle-less, counter-depth Samsung fridge is a sleek and functional feature.

After: Remodel of kitchen. Home used Kraftmaid Cabinetry (Rye finish on maple wood) with Allen + Roth Quartz Countertops (Ellensburg), Samsung free standing range, Samsung over-the-range microwave, Frigiaire Gallery French Door refrigerator, and Frigidaire dishwasher in stainless steel. Client chose new tumbled stone tile for countertop backsplash and vinyl flooring.
