"It is my island in the storm," Weiss says of the master bedroom. Washed in varying degrees of whites and creams, the space is reflective and bright. Weiss painted the ceiling to match the walls - a move that gives the space a greater sense of softness, but also elevates the space even more.
One of the few new purchases that the couple made for their home is the headboard. Once part of the set for the film Intolerable Cruelty, the couple found and purchased it from High Point Market, a semi-annual trade show for the interior design industry. Its grand scale compliments the vastness of the space, and as Will considers it, "it stands as the centerpiece of the room."

A beautiful Edina home with landscaping to match. A semi-circular driveway carves out a garden of native grasses, perennials, and trees.
As the trees grow, their branches will shade the driveway and calm the transition between the public space of the street and private areas of the home.

A view through the garden rooms, a gravel path leads through to the many spaces. The path is lined with cushwa brick outlining the spaces. Terra cotta containers are filled with boxwood and petunia; pachysandra and bugleweed ground cover fill the flanking and center beds. A cast iron bench offers an opportunity to sit and enjoy the space, with the fountain creating a pleasant sound. The wall is graced with two standard form lilacs. Photo Credit: Linda Oyama Bryan

This yard has everything including a way to end the evening. The lakeside firepit sits on a travertine patio and is surrounded by a short granite boulder retaining wall. The annuals around the retaining wall add color to the already stunning view.

Semi-circular paver driveway cuts through the front yard. On the street side, the front island has a mix of trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals. At night, the uplighting on the birch trees provide a dramatic focal point. The pavers in the driveway at the front and secondary entryways are permeable.

A year later, the garden has grown in. Annuals serve to fill open spaces and give a pop of brightness. The view from above reveals the lush and private setting. Designed by Mary Kirk Menefee; installed and styled by Merrifield Garden Center.
