Union Square Loft II
DHD Interiors worked with this couple to furnish their new recently renovated Flatiron loft. Navigating the dark wood paneling and flooring, DHD selected furniture and finishes that felt rich in color and texture while still cool and casual. Layers of grass cloth wallpapers were added to the main bedrooms to reduce the contrast of the dark wood and walls, adding brightness to the loft’s overall feel. Greys and mink-toned browns served as the foundation for a base palette, with deep burgundies and blues working as accents. This loft feels like a true downtown loft with its original brick and an industrial dining table, but stays balanced with softly upholstered furniture. Each piece, from the Dunbar chaise lounge to the organically shaped coffee table, displays a sculptural quality that contributes to a visually dynamic space.

Our NYC studio designed this sleek city home for empty nesters who entertain regularly. This elegant home is all about mixing comfort and elegance with functionality and purpose. The living room is an elegant area with a comfortable sectional and chairs complemented with an artistic circular table and a neutral-hued rug. The kitchen is compact but functional. The dining room features minimal decor with a sleek table and chairs, a floating console, and abstract artwork flanked by metal and glass wall lights.
Our interior design team ensured there was enough room to accommodate visiting family and friends by using rooms and objects to serve a dual purpose. In addition to the calming-hued, elegant guest room, the study can also convert into a guest room with a state-of-the-art Murphy bed. The master bedroom and bathroom are bathed in luxury and comfort. The entire home is elevated with gorgeous textile and hand-blown glass sculptural artistic light pieces created by our custom lighting expert.

This project design was all about that zen, well-traveled lifestyle. We softened chunky, farmhouse furniture pieces with down-to-earth boho details and lots of layered textures. We stayed within an earthy color palette with hints of cool blue to keep it calming and added lots of soft, natural textures. We layered in lots of accent pillows and throws to balance the masculine lines of the furniture. Most of the final elements we chose feature natural materials with hand-crafted details such as raw marble, iron, brass, glass, wood, wool, cotton, leather, grass, etc. We deliberately mixed materials and textures to achieve that eclectic collected-over-time effect. Lush plants and handmade planters are also an accent in this room and serve as an elevated feminine counterpoint to the masculine lines of the furniture. The macrame hanging planters add height and visual interest to the corner of the room.

Close to Lincoln Center Plaza, two existing apartments were combined into a single custom tailored 4-bedroom residence. Characteristic with other buildings from the same post-war era, the existing apartments suffered greatly from a low, monotonous ceiling slab. To break up the ceiling, floating planes containing low-profile LED recessed lighting were incorporated throughout. Grey-washed birch veneer millwork is seen as you enter into the new foyer space. A blackened steel inlaid panel serves as a datum that continues throughout the apartment, wrapping the entry unit and extending around the corner to then transform into a floating bookshelf. The unit not only divides the entry area from the Living room, but also serves its utilitarian purpose on the foyer side as coat and storage closets, and then an entertaining function on the opposing side with a TV niche and custom liquor bar. Whitewashed rift and quartered white oak floors were used to brighten the space. In the kitchen, marble counters extend up the wall and onto the ceiling marking the separation of the kitchen/dining area from the living room/entry area. The kid’s room contains a custom curved desk area built beneath the bay windows to take advantage of the views. In the master bedroom, the blackened steel inlay reappears inset into the wardrobe wall unit.

This project design was all about that zen, well-traveled lifestyle full of boho details. We softened the chunky, farmhouse dining table with organic elements like the live-edge wood tray and hand-made clay vases. We complimented the bold red antique buffet by staying within a neutral, earthy color palette and added soft, natural textures. Most of the final design elements we chose feature natural materials with hand-crafted details such as wood, iron, terracotta, clay, glass, etc. Lush plants, planters, and vases are also a focal point in all this room and serve as an elevated feminine counterpoint to the masculine lines of the dining furniture.

Two-bedroom renovation in a 1920’s loft style building. A single large floating ceiling with perimeter cove lighting was built over the living and dining space to accentuate the extra tall ceiling height. The ceiling also serves to hide LED recessed lighting, speakers and sprinkler heads. Custom teak veneer doors are wrapped with blackened steel door jams and a blackened steel base reveal that match the extra-large aluminum windows. High gloss gray lacquer cabinetry was used in the kitchen as well as for the matching living room TV unit. In the kitchen, custom flush pivot doors on either end, built to look like part of the kitchen cabinetry, push open on one side reveal an office behind and on the other to reveal a rear hallway leading to a guest bathroom. White caesarstone countertops were used throughout with large porcelain tiles in the bathrooms. Engineered grey-washed rift and quartered white oak floors extend throughout.

Measuring just 450 square feet, this West Village pied-a-terre combines style, comfort and functionality. Clever storage can be found throughout the apartment. Many of the furnishings provide multiple functions: the dining table also offers additional counter space; the sofa becomes a guest bed, a bookcase encompasses a pull-out drawer to create a home office, and a wide hallway has been outfitted with drawers and cabinets to serve as a dressing area. Luxurious materials and fixtures makes this tiny home a glamorous jewel box.
