It was once we introduced the white oak that it all came together. Clients then introduced the concept of a talavera tile backsplash and once we put our hands on the right tile, everything came together in perfect harmony. Originally constructed in the 1700s, this historic building once served as a barn, enduring the test of time for centuries. Today, it has been rejuvenated into an artist's studio, thoughtfully designed by architect Anthony Miksitz, preserving its rich heritage while accommodating a new purpose. The studio boasts exposed support beams and soaring ceilings, paying homage to the structure's original function. A generous storefront window and door maintain the spacious ambiance of a barn, allowing an abundance of natural light and glimpses of the surrounding greenery to flood in. The reading nook, one step down, in the master bedroom provides an escape while putting you right in the garden just outside the windows. The clever drapery treatment on a ceiling track (shown here partially closed) allows control of the lighting from the rest of the bedroom for those late-night reading sessions without disturbing the sleeper nearby. The textures of the stone, tile, wood and grass cloth along with the pillows, fabrics, trims, and accents creates an interesting backdrop for the lighting, art and furnishings.

The design inspiration for this remodel was lifestyle, clean lines, and an uncluttered look were the inspirations. Part of the design process is to gather information during an explorative session where we discuss how the kitchen will ultimately need to function and integrate into the overall style of the family and their home. The clients and designer chose Aria Stone Gallery's bianco everest marble for the kitchen countertops.
