Fu-Tung Cheng, CHENG Design • Dining Space featuring Custom Wood + Paper Light Fixture, House 6 Concrete and Wood Home House 6, is Cheng Design’s sixth custom home project, was redesigned and constructed from top-to-bottom. The project represents a major career milestone thanks to the unique and innovative use of concrete, as this residence is one of Cheng Design’s first-ever ‘hybrid’ structures, constructed as a combination of wood and concrete. Sited along the North edge of a double lot property, the Berman Residence is designed to celebrate the Southern California house-to-garden relationship. The building’s linear plan parallels the garden on the Southern lot, creating an equal counterpart to the indoor space along its entire length. At ground level, the house opens generously to the garden using a system of independently sliding wood screen and glass doors.
