Emma Gerancher from Reico Kitchen & Bath in Charlottesville, VA, partnered with Luis Dorta of LED Construction to design a transitional kitchen featuring Masterpiece cabinetry. The kitchen includes the Barton door style in a Cottage finish for the perimeter and a custom Sherwin-Williams Mount Etna painted finish for the island.
The space also features MSI W Calacatta Safyra countertops, along with a Frigidaire canopy hood and microwave.
The client shared, “Gutting our old kitchen to reconfigure the space for better flow, workspace, and storage was a challenge. Emma listened to my needs and offered helpful tips and options, which made the process work. The layout followed the workflow, and my habits and style guided the final details. Reico gave me the options and confidence to trust the process, and the outcome is seamless and beautiful.”
Emma explained, “This kitchen is one of my favorites. The homeowners wanted to replace the peninsula with a custom painted island in Sherwin-Williams Mount Etna, which paired well with the Cottage perimeter cabinets, Calacatta Safyra countertops, sea glass backsplash, and honey bronze hardware. It was a pleasure working with both the homeowners and the contractors throughout the remodel.”

Luxury Kitchen Designs
The kitchen is one of the most used places in a home and it is also the most neglected by far. Working in a kitchen should not be a chore; it should be something you look forward to. Hence the need for luxury kitchen designs. Luxury kitchen designs are designs that elevate the look and feel of your kitchen. The following tips will ensure that your kitchen matches your needs too:
Counter top:
The counter top is very important and the material used for your counter top needs to be the best. Marble or granite counter tops are passé. Corian counter tops are the in thing in luxury. They are great looking and can be easily cleaned too. If you do not like Corian counter tops you can opt for a mix and match counter top design. You can have counter tops made of wood on one side and alternately you can have the other side made of marble. Whatever the material the end outcome should be one of luxury.
Appliances:
A luxury kitchen needs to have all the latest appliances. The microwave, the oven, the refrigerator, the chimney etc., are all the standard requirements, but over and above these, you should incorporate the latest technological breakthroughs in kitchen technology. Also the appliances should not be visible. It should be inside shelves and should be used only when needed. The kitchen design should be done in such a way that the wood panels hide all the appliances.
Island:
A luxury kitchen without an island is not a luxury kitchen at all. The island is the place where you and your family can have a quick snack or two. It is the place where you place the food for serving or for mixing drinks. If you have the space you can even have two islands in the kitchen.
Lighting:
Along with a luxury kitchen design, it is necessary to add some luxury kitchen lighting as well. Lighting a kitchen is an art in itself. You should have different types of lighting for different areas of the kitchen. You can have hanging lights over the island; you can have dim lights near the sink etc. The lighting will enhance the mood and also emphasize the design.
Once you ensure the above mentioned points, your kitchen will be a sight to behold, a place where you can enjoy making and sharing a wonderful meal with your loved ones.

In this project we remodeled 2 bathrooms completely. We found the bathroom after demolition and poor plumbing and electrical work that was done by another company that left the customer in the middle after they took from her most of the money. We corrected the plumbing and the electrical per code and we did all the work needed to complete the job. We also replaced partial of the roof.

This vanity has six drawers, each with it’s own organizer inside to keep things neat and easy to find. Here’s a tip: when sharing a bathroom with someone, designate drawers for specific items or divide them into his and hers if you prefer.
We designed this vanity with open space under the drawers. Open shelving is all the rage now in bathrooms and allows flexible use of the space as your needs change. Some folks choose to use baskets and bins on their shelves to store items such as towels or toilet paper. Other homeowners may fold or display extra towels for easy access.
We designed a floor to ceiling built-in cabinet and placed it behind the vanity for convenience. Anything that won’t fit into the vanity drawers can be stored here. We combined open shelving with adjustable shelves and 3 deep drawers to provide a variety of options.

For this project, our clients needed a more livable space for their family to cook and eat together, so we had to completely remodel and renovate their dysfunctional and outdated kitchen. They asked for a touch of color, which we delivered by introducing teal subway tiles. The space was divided and small so we opted for opening up and integrating with the dining space. The project involved everything from the remodel, light and ceiling design, furniture and color selection and of course, styling. Now they have a custom made new kitchen which is perfect for gathering up with family or friends to cook or share a glass of wine.

Another design need for her IKEA kitchen was an easier-to-clean countertop, Shoko says.
“Our original counter was brown, making it very difficult to spot messes, spills, and crumbs. That’s why we opted for a white counter with matching backsplash (which is all one piece),” she says.
In fact, the Caesarstone in Blizzard runs from the sink to the stove area, giving ample space for food prep and is complemented by the matching backsplash and the custom butcher block seating area on the other side of the stove.
“Clean up is so much quicker and easier with the new countertops,” she says.
The counter area is further brightened by under cabinet lighting strips from IKEA.
For new IKEA renovators, Shoko wants to share some useful tips from her IKEA experience.
“The first thing I would say to others is do not be intimidated by the renovation process! There are so many resources available that can help simplify an IKEA renovation project. I’d also suggest asking a lot of questions, including asking how you plan on using the space,” she says.
She also says that working with design professionals was the best decision for her IKEA kitchen.
“The kitchen specialists at IKEA were very knowledgeable, and, of course the staff at IKD explained all the options, materials, and demystified the IKEA ordering process,” she adds.
She concludes: “Ultimately, we chose IKEA cabinetry for the ease and the price. Since our apartment isn’t a forever home, we didn’t think it made sense to go for custom cabinets. We were looking for something simple, clean, and affordable, and for a project (and a space) of this size, IKEA’s options were a great fit for us!”
