This large guest bedroom suite showcases the not so subtle differences between clutter and collection. After sitting in boxes for years, a lifetime of sports memorabilia are utilized to give this wonderful room a story to tell. We designed custom built-in cabinetry to display the amazing treasures of authentic steins and family photos amongst sports nostalgia, books, trophies, autographed caps, bats and balls. This "man cave" living space fits perfectly into this contemporary home and gives our client reason to smile. As you can see, the entry, formal dining room, wet bar, and master bedroom also share an intentional and tailored design aesthetic. This 3,400-square-foot traditional timber frame cottage on Lake of the Woods, Ontario, showcases classic heavy timber craftsmanship and intricate joinery. Designed by Mo Hykaway and completed in 2006, the home is organized around a cross-gabled roof with a striking 24’ x 22’ great room, spanned by a majestic White Pine hammer beam truss that maximizes vertical volume without obstructing lake views. This client wanted a relaxing bathroom that brought the ocean to Waterloo, Ontario. The client mentioned, ‘…this is an amazing shower’ – the fixtures from Delta offer flexibility and customization. Fantasy Brown granite was used, and inhibites the movement of a stream, bringing together the browns, creams, whites blues and greens. The tile floor has a sandy texture and colour, and gives the feeling of being at the beach. With the sea-inspired colour scheme, and numerous textures and patterns, this bathroom is the perfect oasis from the everyday.

The Copper coffee table, with a walnut structure and marble top, accentuated the personality of the contemporary style, which to assure a functional and elegant panorama, invests in the combination of several materials and textures. Danish Modern is one of the several types of Modern design style. Popularized in Denmark from the 1940s-1970s, Danish modern furniture design was a collaboration between the principles of modern architecture and the high-quality cabinetmaking for which the Danes were known. Simple, elegant, airy, and featuring clean, sweeping lines, the furnishings are inherently warm and beautiful. This open dining room is a collection of vintage Danish modern furniture dating from the early 1970s. The authentic pieces were located at different auction houses and specialty consigners around the country to create a cohesive look the homeowners were seeking. The solid teak sideboard features a lighted upper display cabinet (removable) showcasing the homeowners’ collection of art including Nambé, Murano, Vietri sul Mare, and Blenko. The lower cabinet consists of two sliding doors on either end offering plentiful storage. In between are a bank of five felt-lined drawers for items such as silverware, trays and linens. With graceful rounded corners and rich, warm teak woodgrain, the dining room table is a perfect match to the sideboard. Two leaves tightly drop in and enable expansion with seating capacity for 14 people. Mixing up dining chairs adds interest and variety. The curvaceous and timeless Arne Jacobsen (the Danish designer) Series 7 chair in black is the perfect pairing for this dynamic design. Crowning the space is the airy, translucent classic Nelson bubble lamp, keeping in line with the Modernist theme.
