This living area was transformed into a show-stopping piano room, for a modern-minded family. The sleek lacquer black of the piano is a perfect contrast to the bright turquoise, chartreuse and white of the artwork, fabrics, lighting and area rug.

This gorgeous twelve foot long Macassar Ebony Dining Room table was custom designed for the room. The two chain like silver pendants add drama and entrance to the room. The silver leaf wall covering sprles and the soft upholstered lavender and purple chairs soften the room/

Two different accent tiles make a statement and add a pop of color against the large white wall tiles in the custom shower. Frameless glass creates a custom and modern feel to the space. This small powder bath lacked interest and was quite dark despite having a window. We added white horizontal tongue & groove on the lower portion of the room with a warm graphic wallpaper above. A custom white cabinet with a waterfall grey and white granite counter gave the vanity some personality. New crown molding, window casings, taller baseboards and white wood blinds made impact to the small room. We also installed a modern pendant light and a rustic oval mirror which adds character to the space. BEFORE Though this bathroom had a good layout, everything was just really outdated. We added tile from floor to ceiling for a spa like feel. We kept the color palette neutral and timeless. The dark cheery cabinet was elegantly finished with crystal knobs and a cararra marble countertop. AFTER AFTER BEFORE There was an underutilized corner between the vanity and the shower that was basically wasted space. To give the corner a purpose, we added a make-up vanity in white with a custom made stool. Oversized subway tiles were added to the shower, along with a rain shower head, for a clean and timeless look. We also added a new frosted glass door to the walk-in closet to let the light in. BEFORE These beautiful oval pivot mirrors are not only functional but also showcase the cararra marble on the wall. Unique glass pendants are a dramatic addition to the space as is the ikat wallpaper in the WC. To finish out the vanity space we added a shallow white upper cabinet for additional storage. BEFORE AFTER AFTER The best part of this remodel? Tearing out the awful, dated carpet! We chose porcelain tile with the look of hardwoods for a more functional and modern space. How to help a young couple who loved the location and bones of a traditional home, but wanted a decisive shift in its decor and vibe to modern luxe? Begin by pulling down the 2-story walls of oak paneling, heavy fireplace mantle, and scraping out the dimly lit kitchen. Opening the kitchen into the family room and reworking the architecture of the space was the solution to creating the fresh feeling we were after. Photos by John Bessler

This dining room was designed to create a moody and cozy atmosphere. The dark blue wall colour ads an element of drama, contrasted by a gold branch sculpture on the wall and two sconces on the farther end. A heritage rustic dining table is softened by tufted cream coloured linen dining chairs and accented with gold cutlery.

Serenity is the name of the game in this cool hued traditional master bedroom layered in shades of gray. Light grey paint covers the walls and ceiling and is accented by clean white trim. Linen draperies in a toile pattern are suspended from polished nickel rods. An antique white French bed stands on a grey and navy rug that gracefully covers the walnut stained floor. The bed’s headboard and footboard are upholstered with gray linen that coordinates with the lush bedding layered to create sumptuous texture. A pair of bedside tables with stained wood tops are home to a pair of porcelain lamps. At the foot of the bed stands a Williamsburg blue tufted leather bench with charcoal gray legs. A gold sunburst mirror hangs above the bed providing a bit of glam while accentuating the vaulted ceiling. A four paneled upholstered screen trimmed with silver nails stands in one corner, while a comfortable chaise in a blue geometric pattern beckons from another. A white garden seat stands nearby.
