This dark, dreary kitchen was large, but not being used well. The family of 7 had outgrown the limited storage and experienced traffic bottlenecks when in the kitchen together. A bright, cheerful and more functional kitchen was desired, as well as a new pantry space.
We gutted the kitchen and closed off the landing through the door to the garage to create a new pantry. A frosted glass pocket door eliminates door swing issues. In the pantry, a small access door opens to the garage so groceries can be loaded easily. Grey wood-look tile was laid everywhere.
We replaced the small window and added a 6’x4’ window, instantly adding tons of natural light. A modern motorized sheer roller shade helps control early morning glare. Three free-floating shelves are to the right of the window for favorite décor and collectables.
White, ceiling-height cabinets surround the room. The full-overlay doors keep the look seamless. Double dishwashers, double ovens and a double refrigerator are essentials for this busy, large family. An induction cooktop was chosen for energy efficiency, child safety, and reliability in cooking. An appliance garage and a mixer lift house the much-used small appliances.
An ice maker and beverage center were added to the side wall cabinet bank. The microwave and TV are hidden but have easy access.
The inspiration for the room was an exclusive glass mosaic tile. The large island is a glossy classic blue. White quartz countertops feature small flecks of silver. Plus, the stainless metal accent was even added to the toe kick!
Upper cabinet, under-cabinet and pendant ambient lighting, all on dimmers, was added and every light (even ceiling lights) is LED for energy efficiency.
White-on-white modern counter stools are easy to clean. Plus, throughout the room, strategically placed USB outlets give tidy charging options.

To harmonize the ancient heartbeat of these knot patterns with the modern flair of the architectural style of the home, Raleigh included a very skillfully inlaid pattern of slate. The geometric slate not only mirrors the curves and edges of the home’s exterior, it also tells a story of geometric creation only found through balancing the masculine with the feminine. The circle as mother, the triangle as father, and the square as child, all joined in harmony to create a flow of energy through all aspects of the self. In truly brilliant fashion, Raleigh expressed timeless knowledge harmonizing two rather diverse styles, and eased this entryway into a truly inviting and appealing “welcome home” for any buyer.

We removed walls in the living areas to create an open floor plan, and provided space they wanted for their master bedroom retreat in their new second story area, complete with a spacious bathroom and a walk-in closet. We kept a large window on the front of the house that provided a nice view of the hills which was important to the wife and so she was able to keep an eye on the kids playing. While each member of the family was an important factor in the design process we incorporated room for a Jack-and-Jill bathroom between the kids bedrooms making sure to balance out the size of each bedroom and closet so neither child felt the other had better space.

This homeowner originally had open shelves displaying snacks and beverages along this wall. Now that their child has started to get into things, they were looking for something with more storage and that could be closed off. They were envisioning a built-in serving/beverage area with rollouts and drawers. We were happy to help them. They chose the transitional shaker style of the Catalina door in the Slate gray stained wood finish. We installed custom rustic white birch adjustable rollouts in each cabinet. They decided on the Calacutta Laza Quartz top, as its gray veining compliments the slate finish. Now this homeowner has a better flow to their kitchen area when entertaining their guests.

This bathroom is part of the addition added to this home and was designed with two kids in mind, the bathroom offers individual storage solutions. Each child has their own dedicated drawer, providing a sense of ownership and organization, which is a big change after sharing a bathroom.
A pocket door was strategically added to maximize the room’s space, ensuring that every square foot is put to good use. This thoughtful design element enhances the bathroom’s functionality while maintaining its clean and sleek appearance.
In line with the bathroom’s modern design, the use of hooks instead of traditional towel bars is both practical and stylish. It not only makes it easy for the kids to hang their towels but also adds a touch of uniqueness to the space.
The focal point of this bathroom is the stunning walnut cabinetry with a Kodiak finish. The warm and rich tones of walnut provide an inviting atmosphere, while the gold handles add a touch of luxury. The cabinetry includes a mirror and floating shelves, combining both style and functionality.
To enhance the sense of opulence, the bathroom features Florim porcelain in the striking “eternal gold” color. This versatile material is used for both the shower walls and the countertop, adding a touch of sophistication. The wood-grain tile floor with a vertical tile strip in the shower not only creates visual interest but also offers a durable and easy-to-maintain surface. Black plumbing fixtures provide a stunning contrast, infusing a modern and contemporary aesthetic.

Kids' room - traditional kids' room idea in Chicago

We transformed this entryway into a coastal inspired mudroom. Designing custom built in's allowed us to use the space in the most functional way possible. Each child gets their own cubby to organize school supplies, sporting equipment, shoes and seasonal outerwear. Wrapping the walls in shiplap, painting the cabinets a bright blue and adding some fun blue and white wallpaper on the opposing wall, infuse a coastal vibe to this space.

Patterned floor tile, a feminine vanity and an arched mirror unite to create an adorable girl's bath with delicate details. The vanity color was pulled directly from the patterned floor tile to create a cohesive design. The shower (not shown) features clean white subway tile in a brick pattern and a handheld showerhead on a slide bar with an adjustable height. Adjustable height shower heads are perfect for growing children and are easily adjustable as they grow taller. Antique gold plumbing and hardware accents and a whimsical pink pom-pom floral bouquet complete the space. The airy blue vanity color is repeated in the adjoining child's bedroom for continuity.
