Retractable living room doors open the great room to outdoors.
A fresh interpretation of the western farmhouse, The Sycamore, with its high pitch rooflines, custom interior trusses, and reclaimed hardwood floors offers irresistible modern warmth.
When merging the past indigenous citrus farms with today’s modern aesthetic, the result is a celebration of the Western Farmhouse. The goal was to craft a community canvas where homes exist as a supporting cast to an overall community composition. The extreme continuity in form, materials, and function allows the residents and their lives to be the focus rather than architecture. The unified architectural canvas catalyzes a sense of community rather than the singular aesthetic expression of 16 individual homes. This sense of community is the basis for the culture of The Sycamore.
The western farmhouse revival style embodied at The Sycamore features elegant, gabled structures, open living spaces, porches, and balconies. Utilizing the ideas, methods, and materials of today, we have created a modern twist on an American tradition. While the farmhouse essence is nostalgic, the cool, modern vibe brings a balance of beauty and efficiency. The modern aura of the architecture offers calm, restoration, and revitalization.
Located at 37th Street and Campbell in the western portion of the popular Arcadia residential neighborhood in Central Phoenix, the Sycamore is surrounded by some of Central Phoenix’s finest amenities, including walkable access to premier eateries such as La Grande Orange, Postino, North, and Chelsea’s Kitchen.

This large estate house was carefully crafted to compliment the rolling hillsides of the Midwest. Horizontal board & batten facades are sheltered by long runs of hipped roofs and are divided down the middle by the homes singular gabled wall. At the foyer, this gable takes the form of a classic three-part archway. Subtle earth-toned wall colors, white trim, and natural wood floors serve as a perfect canvas to showcase patterned upholstery, black hardware, and colorful paintings.

Our clients had a cramped and outdated kitchen that lacked flow. They envisioned a space the family could share, including an eat-in kitchen with an island. Their small master bathroom also needed a facelift, more counter space, and storage options. They desired both spaces to be clean with a modern aesthetic.
Thoughtful architectural planning dramatically opened the space in this home to encompass the kitchen, dining, and hallway areas into one unified expanse. JRP removed the soffit and pushed back the appliance wall into the hallway to create the space needed for the central island-a place to hang out while dinner is being made, but also double as an additional food prep area. The cabinetry, along with the quartz backsplash and countertop, made for a clean, modern look.
Upstairs, the master bathroom transformed into a clutter-free zen zone. The tiny closet and outdated vanity were removed and replaced by an integrated counter space with white oak cabinetry, drawers, and open space shelving. The dated round-framed mirrors were swapped out in favor of one large, singular mirror.
The most used areas in this home are now comfortable and polished with surfaces that are both simple and easy to clean. This remodel design embraces modern living at its best. The focus on clean, uncluttered lines, light timber elements, and white countertops came together to give our clients the minimalist esthetics they were looking for.

This jungle themed residence embodies the beautiful animal and plant wildlife that has become a primary draw for Orlando’s residents and travelers. With Disney’s Animal Kingdom only a few miles from the complex, the incorporation of a zebrawood pattern at the entry, a canopy creatures master bedroom mural backdrop, and a royal blue shrub wallpapered guest room effectively highlight the enchanted resort and the magic of nature conclusively. Grounding hues of navy and turquoise serve to connect each of the divided prints into one singular motif, and natural finishes give a final nod to life’s sustaining habitat.

A continuous full height slab runs uninterrupted from countertop to ceiling, its bold gray veining creates a dramatic singular composition. A long floating vanity in the graphite shaker provides generous drawer storage beneath an undermount vessel sink.

The Lounge Chair by Poul Henningsen. A masterpiece forged by a singular piece of steel tube bent into the most comfortable luxury relaxation chair. One of the nicer things about the Lounge Chair is the way it seems to fit every different room that it gets placed in.

Charming Old World meets new, open space planning concepts. This Ranch Style home turned English Cottage maintains very traditional detailing and materials on the exterior, but is hiding a more transitional floor plan inside. The 49 foot long Great Room brings together the Kitchen, Family Room, Dining Room, and Living Room into a singular experience on the interior. By turning the Kitchen around the corner, the remaining elements of the Great Room maintain a feeling of formality for the guest and homeowner's experience of the home. A long line of windows affords each space fantastic views of the rear yard.

Just north of Seattle, this family home is tucked away on a magical parcel of land within the Edmonds city limits. Designed to maximize the site’s breathtaking views, it is carefully sited to blend into its wooded setting while opening fully to expansive views.
On our first visit, we found a secluded forest glade with stunning vistas of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains perched atop a high seaside bluff. Preserving and enhancing this singular landscape as the surrounding neighborhood fills in with development was central to our design.
The approach is intentionally restrained—the home does not reveal itself entirely upon arrival. The house is composed of two wings that cradle the meadow, making it the most important “room.” Interior spaces are oriented towards the lush landscape and impressive views framed by mature trees.
The structures are kept close to the perimeter, leaving the center of the site unbuilt. A covered bridge with a green roof acts as a front porch, linking the upslope garage/office with the main house. A gentle stair flows through the gap between the structures, drawing visitors into the clearing.
The floorplan is highly efficient, carefully tuned to the family’s daily routines. Each room is exactly suited to its purpose, yet no larger than needed.
An open corner with double-height windows creates a jewel-box dining room. Free of a corner structure, the home expands to encompass the covered patio for outdoor cooking and dining, plus easy access to the kitchen, encouraging year-round outdoor living.
Human-scale moments are intentionally created, from a stairway window seat with peekaboo views to a covered outdoor extension of the great room that fosters a cozy relationship between interior and exterior.
Much of the light-filled interior is wrapped in clear-finished fir, giving it a warm glow even on rainy winter days. White oak cabinets and black soapstone countertops add warmth to the kitchen. The built-in furniture in the library loft and the cold-rolled steel fireplace surround were crafted by the owner’s father, an expert woodworker, increasing the connection between the home and its occupants. The second story includes the primary suite with treehouse vibes.
Located on a steep slope in a landslide-prone area, the Edmonds Overlook overcame numerous technical and engineering challenges to address vehicle and fire access, stormwater and erosion mitigation, and potential earth movement.

Vanishing edge swimming pool designer reconstructed a leaking baptismal font creating an Italian glass tile mosaic vessel worthy of the commanding entrance of this private foyer.
Theology of the Design - The Design Elements and Their Meanings
Significant thought went into the redesign of the physical attributes and safety of this reconstructed font. The real importance of the design is found in the placement and use of the materials and colors:
1. The bronze statue of Christ occupies a commanding position atop the upper font, gazing through the skylight towards heaven above.
2. A gradient blend of glass tile mosaics originates with a blend of blacks & grays and transforms to a blend of yellows – signifying baptism in Christ's name is leaving one's sinful past behind (blacks/grays) and beginning and dawn of a new life (sunrise/yellows).
3. The upper bowl (cube) is a blend of whites and opalescent pearls... infants that are baptized here are free of mortal sin (purity/white).
4. A smattering of 24 karat gold mosaic tiles spill from the statue of the ascending Christ, over the spill way & cascades out onto the floor of the lower font.... Christ is the source of our everlasting life.
5. The black/gray entry step contains a few yellow tiles... because there is a little good in everyone, no matter how sinful they may be.
6. A singular gold mosaic tile is on the yellow exit step... Christ will forever be with those who are baptized & walk in his name.
7. The shadows from the hands of the statue of the ascending Christ touch both the black/gray entry step and the yellow exit step... Christ will forever guide those baptized in his name.

Ensuring the chairs had enough structure was a challenge considering they are one continuous curve. But the singular fluid curve is what makes these chairs so aesthetically pleasing and intriguing.

The Vision:
The #settle project was born from a singular goal: to strip away the "noise" of modern construction and focus on the quiet power of intentional detail. In an era of rapid builds, we chose to slow down, focusing on how a structure can truly "settle" into its landscape and how an inhabitant can find stillness within its walls.
Design Philosophy: The "Settle" Approach
Material Honesty: We utilized a palette of [Insert Materials, e.g., raw concrete, sustainable oak, and burnished steel] to create a tactile experience that evolves with the light.
Precision Joinery: Every transition—from floor to wall, and interior to exterior—was engineered with flush thresholds to eliminate visual clutter.
Atmospheric Lighting: Rather than standard overhead lighting, we integrated hidden linear sources and strategic apertures to harness the natural solar path.
The Result:
A dwelling that doesn't just occupy space but enhances it. The #settle project is a testament to the fact that when you pay attention to the smallest details, the "big picture" takes care of itself.

In this primary bedroom retreat, bold design meets understated luxury. Anchored by a dramatic reclaimed wood accent wall, the space introduces organic texture to balance the clean modern lines throughout the home. Warm earth tones, soft lighting, and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows create a restful, elevated environment that feels both grounded and expansive.
Every element was chosen with intention—from the matte black ceiling fan that nods to industrial minimalism, to the custom light fixtures flanking the bed, casting a soft glow that's as practical as it is atmospheric. The natural hardwood flooring keeps the room visually open and fluid, while the large glass doors offer a seamless indoor-outdoor connection—an NEC signature design move that brings light, nature, and rhythm into everyday life.
This is more than a bedroom. It's a curated pause—a space for deep rest, quiet mornings, and slow Sundays. Designed and built by New Explode Construction with a singular goal: to create a home that feels like your sanctuary.

In a sober setting, with a very own identity, the dining room triumphs the high quality of our production and of the materials applied in each piece. The sideboard in this project is one of several examples of the mastery of an incredible design allied to the subtlety of who produces it. Fully customised for this space, this sideboard in matt oak features led technology to illuminate the entire interior surface, combining a supreme result. The elegant detail of the opening doors gives a singular glamour to the whole environment.
