One common misconception is that there’s a singular “best time” to trim or prune your trees. Some service providers might advocate for off-season tasks, but this can sometimes result in an overestimation of required trimming, leading to a less-than-stellar bloom come spring.
At Pro Tree Service, we recommend trimming a tree while in its full bloom. This gives our valued customers a clear, real-time visual representation of the final look. Trust us; we know trees, and we believe that seeing is believing.

This project created a singular modern home for clients with two distinct professions; she is an artist; he is a musician. Their directive to Battle Associates was to “design the home of their dreams,” and “make it cool.” As the design evolved, three volumes emerged each with its own individual character. Shapes, materials, and colors reinforced the concept. The “Red Barn” houses a music studio, garage, guest, and children’s bedrooms. The “Industrial” volume is the Art Studio. The “Middle” volume is where the clients live. Each structure has its own set of exterior details, materials, and colors. The three buildings are oriented to maximize views around a man-made pond and a conserved hefty locus tree. Clean, contemporary lines set the tone for the details throughout the project, creating an appropriate environment for displaying artwork. Maple, bamboo, and painted finishes were the predominant palette, complemented with steel and glass for the stairs. Kitchen details favored cut-away pulls instead of hardware. The shell of the entire home was detailed and constructed with a high degree of energy efficiency in mind. Ultra-insulation was the standard with foam panels, triple glazing, and near passive house standards for construction.

This chic, modern design is the crown jewel of this San Antonio community. The outdoor space was designed for luxury entertaining and every element infused with a touch of elegance and functionality.
Beginning with the glass-tiled negative edge spa stylishly separating the two swimming areas, to the fire-wall and putting green, followed by the outdoor kitchen area with a gorgeous fire pit, and lastly, the unique spaces that offer multiple areas of entertaining with a sense of privacy. The porcelain decking flows seamlessly from the house and creates a singular space when the vanishing doors are open.

The singular premise from the client, asked Pablo Luna to merge the space with surrounding nature: a space to play, and be inspired. Therefore the layout is an open space allowing the inhabitant freedom in movement. The curvilinear design, more organic in its nature, is used abundantly in the design of the Oyster Villa as it has power to influence fluidity of action, and imaginative thoughts in its occupants. Textural contrasts within the material adds a playful quality, and enhances tactile relation between the structure and people in the space. The concept derives from the oyster mushroom’s inner layers, creating a distinguished evocative feeling within the user.

With a desire to stay close to friends and family, the owners of this 1984 home spent several years searching for property near their neighborhood to build a new, more modern, energy-conscious home tailored to their empty-nest lifestyle. They eventually concluded that their current site was the perfect location for them, but the home needed to be updated and reorganized to create fresh, open, unified spaces to comfortably welcome gatherings of family, friends, and guests.
Before renovation, the floor plan included small rooms, dedicated hallways, a step-down living room, a heavy and dark corner fireplace, and limited opportunities for natural light and visual connections from space to space. Exterior deck areas were narrow, long, and used infrequently.
Primary goals of this project included accessibility of space, more natural light, better connectivity between spaces, and a focus on sustainable performance. The updated main floor plan included the selective removal of walls to reallocate dedicated hall space to usable, open living area. The step-down living room was leveled for full accessibility, safety, furniture flexibility and overall space use. The removal of a half-height wall between the living area and the kitchen created continuity between the spaces. Reorganizing the primary entry and stair and eliminating walls between the entry and dining room created new visual connections between the kitchen and the entry. The new central concrete hearth and fireplace provides a strong, modern focal point for the living area. Large sliding glass doors on each side of the fireplace allow the TV area beyond to be separated from the living area as needed.
In several strategic locations, the footprint of the house was expanded to enhance function and flow at the kitchen, dining room, and mudroom. The new outdoor deck area is now large and singular and includes a grille area, dining space and open seating overlooking the newly landscaped pool below.
The exterior envelope of the house includes new insulation, siding, and energy-efficient windows, as well as two large roof-mounted solar arrays, to increase thermal performance and to offset energy costs. Inside, the new HVAC system maximizes energy efficiency while using a fraction of its former footprint. As a result, a portion of the former mechanical space was added back to the lower level family room area and expands into a cozy library nook.
MMA partnered with the owner’s interior designer and kitchen designer to achieve a softer, contemporary palette of finishes that complement this newly configured, light-filled home.

Located on an extraordinary hillside site above the San Fernando Valley, the Sherman Residence was designed to unite indoors and outdoors. The house is made up of as a series of board-formed concrete, wood and glass pavilions connected via intersticial gallery spaces that together define a central courtyard. From each room one can see the rich and varied landscape, which includes indigenous large oaks, sycamores, “working” plants such as orange and avocado trees, palms and succulents. A singular low-slung wood roof with deep overhangs shades and unifies the overall composition.

This was a long and narrow room so it was a bit tricky to design, but , I was able to get three distinct areas by using Bamboo room dividers! A separate and semi-private desk area, bedroom area and hangout space (sofa). The bamboo room dividers were cost effective and singularly important in achieving functionality for all three areas within the room. The style is a bit of an Asian-inspired, Boho mix. A printed mustard yellow wallpaper frames the desk area in the back and gives it a bright pop of color, while a pale pink on the walls is a great balance to the beautiful accents and furniture throughout. I’d say it’s the perfect little girl’s room!

This was a small remodel project where we added wainscotting to the island and repainted it for a pop of color, added stools and pendants, changed the light fixture in the living room, added custom window treatments, and custom built-ins around the fireplace with wallpaper and funky custom wood shelves. The dining room got a new chandelier and a bold statement wall. We spruced up the foyer with a funky wood sideboard and abstract artwork.

When our client bought this house, it was stuck in limbo between the traditional interior and a 90's modern structure.
The direction we took was a combination of calm beige color scheme with clean lines and smooth surfaces.
The continuation of the same materials throughout the house finally bonded all the different spaces into a singular home.
The two guest bathrooms were made with Cloe zellige style tiles and custom floating vanities made from white oak.
The same oak was used also for the built-in TV wall as floating shelves and base cabinets with a large, tiled center piece for the recessed TV and the electric fireplace.
The kitchen also received some of the white oak love in the form of the Island and the recessed cooking area.
The biggest issue with the kitchen space was the lack of proportions between the width and its length vs. the extreme height of the vaulted ceiling.
The solution I came up with was a secondary line of wall cabinets to be the same depth as the full height units to create a wrap around and make the space more proportionate.
Continuing to the master bathroom, here we have a true walk-in master bath suite, no door needed with this size of space.
All the walls received porcelain semi slab treatment. (72x36 porcelain tile) a lot of work went into selecting the correct tile pieces to give it the effect of a single slab installation but without the added cost.
All fixtures are by Kohler with their fantastic modern gold finish.
The result was a perfect flow of calm beige colors and warmth of natural wood throughout.
