This kitchen layout is perfect for cooking, entertaining and enjoying family meals. The open design makes it easy for the cook to prepare meals while interacting with guests. The flush-mount ceiling lights really give the space an upbeat character without overwhelming and cluttering it. The glass overhead lights create more layers to the room and work as focal points for social gatherings.

The Casual Bellevue Greystone project didn’t come without its hindrances. The first challenge was designing a space that was accommodating to the couple but also their children and grandchildren when visiting. By knocking down a wall and opening up a large portion of the once closed-off kitchen, we were able to make the room a big part of the home. This allowed those in the kitchen to interact and socialize with guests and family in the living room, dining area or library. Additionally, we were tasked with adding a spark of character to the traditional white kitchen. By adding in a pop of color with blue bookcases and dark touches of oak in the hood and kitchen island, our team was able to modernize a classic look. However, keeping the room bright and airy without natural light was an additional hurdle. Placing glass pendants above the island as well as including under-cabinetry lighting helped illuminate the space.

This complete structural makeover of a two-story 1978 penthouse sought to integrate the kitchen and social area, creating an open layout allowing houseguests to interact more fluidly, while taking advantage of the natural light afforded by a reconfigured, double-height view of Miami’s Biscayne Bay. Materials were chosen to lend richness and texture to the space, defining proportions and ratios, with an emphasis on clean, compelling lines to complement the clients’ entertaining objectives while embodying a warmer, “Modern Eclectic Contemporary” feel. Custom furniture including a sleek, youthful bar and seating as well as oversized artwork emphasize proportion in the two-story space while maximizing the space’s relationship to the double-height view. Two islands make for plenty of storage space and room to prepare extravagant meals, while the social space here encourages casual interaction. This kitchen is part of a custom open-plan design that leads right into the dining room.

The most unique feature of this design is that the covered bar area is designed to incorporate part of the pool. This allows people socializing at the bar to interact with swimmers in the pool without being baked in the sun. Depending on your kitchen layout, island sinks can save you space and functionality. One of the main reasons for the main sink in the island is how much time you spend at the sink. If you tend to socialize more in the kitchen while doing tasks, island sinks may be for you! Since this was a family home reno project, a ton of interaction will take place in this area! We made sure to create an inviting space along with Etch Design Group. There was a full gut of the kitchen. This included all cabinetry, countertops, and backsplash. The main focus in this kitchen part of the reno was moving the sink location from the wall to the newly installed island. The new layout included new cabinets painted a beautiful shade of timeless white, on top of those polished Statuario quartz countertops with light veining were installed. These new custom cabinets were customized to the homeowners' specifications for her kitchenware items. Electrically, we installed 6 new LED recessed canned lights and added new outlets to the island to add more lighting in the home.

Integrated spaces allow for maximum social gathering potential, inside and out! The large open space allows friends and family busy on the back deck to easily interact with those who occupy the kitchen. We The People Construction is proud to present the accomplished venture, the Outdated to Outstanding kitchen remodel. This project marks a transformation from a dated, dim kitchen into a bright, welcoming, and highly functional space. A comprehensive kitchen remodel that was motivated by the homeowner's desire for a more modern and vibrant cooking area. The old, brown cabinets and dark brown countertop were replaced with pristine white cabinets and luxurious granite countertops. The choice of white not only modernizes the space but also amplifies the natural light, making the kitchen more inviting. Taking center stage in this kitchen transformation is a standalone wooden counter, acting as both a visual anchor and a practical component. This island introduces an element of warmth with its natural wood finish, contrasting beautifully against the white surroundings. One of the key features of this project is the side countertop, where four green upholstered stools are neatly arranged. This setup creates a casual dining or socializing area, encouraging interaction and conversation during meal prep times. The sink, placed strategically in front of a large window, takes full advantage of the outdoor views and natural light. This thoughtful positioning enhances the overall ambiance and functionality of the kitchen. The window also allows the homeowner to enjoy the beautiful outdoors while carrying out daily chores. Last but not least, the stainless-steel appliances were selected for their sleek design and durability. They add a contemporary touch to the overall aesthetic of the kitchen, completing the transformation from outdated to modern.

The original intent of this project was to replace the island, hood, countertops, and a few appliances. A primary bath remodel was the main priority. But once the couple realized certain features would enhance the functionality of the kitchen – not to mention completely change the aesthetic – they put the master bath on hold and decided to remodel the entire kitchen first. Design objectives: -Omit separate table, plan for a larger island that would seat 7 people -Simple, clean lines – no rounded corners or weird angles -Nothing trendy – use modern classic details -Uncluttered countertops -Better pantry storage for food & small appliances -Integrated major appliances -Coffee bar -Avoid “1 color on perimeter with second color on island” -Integrate a harmonious variety of finishes -Integrate black & handmade metals Design challenges: -Island shape to fit within confines of existing half wall between kitchen & family room & bay window/door to backyard -Narrow kitchen with major walkway -Planning for 7 seats at the island -Keep guest social area away from the cook’s zone -Place appliances according to use -Point-of-use storage for an avid cook within a relatively small space -Integrate colors without looking too busy THE NEW KITCHEN -While the island is mostly rectangular, the seating area utilizes the bay extension without interfering with the exterior door -All seating is placed on the outside perimeter of the island, giving the cook dedicated prep space -The L-shaped seating area & adjacent coffee bar encourage guests to gather on the outside edge of the kitchen where they can still interact with the cook -Island prep space includes 5 feet of versatile drawer storage, double waste basket and an open paper towel dispenser -One pantry designated for food; the other for small appliances & bulk storage; creates visual armoire look -Microwave drawer in island faces refrigerator for easy access & less interference with cook’s zone -Appliance garages avoid clutter on the countertops -Off-white upper cabinets make the kitchen look larger while the black bases offer contrast without closing in the space Once the client committed to remodeling her entire kitchen, she had a good idea of the direction she wanted the space to take. Even so, there were many details that remained open to explore & contemplate. The end result is modern, clean and ultimately transitional – a creative vision anchored in functionality and artistry! A powder room remodel was added to the project that beautifully compliments the kitchen aesthetic. The entire staircase, all trim & doors were painted in the same tones as the kitchen, transforming the entire first floor into a cohesive & welcoming space. It was a great collaborative partnership!
