Stuart Wade, Envision Virtual Tours The design goal was to produce a corporate or family retreat that could best utilize the uniqueness and seclusion as the only private residence, deep-water hammock directly assessable via concrete bridge in the Southeastern United States. Little Hawkins Island was seven years in the making from design and permitting through construction and punch out. The multiple award winning design was inspired by Spanish Colonial architecture with California Mission influences and developed for the corporation or family who entertains. With 5 custom fireplaces, 75+ palm trees, fountain, courtyards, and extensive use of covered outdoor spaces; Little Hawkins Island is truly a Resort Residence that will easily accommodate parties of 250 or more people. The concept of a “village” was used to promote movement among 4 independent buildings for residents and guests alike to enjoy the year round natural beauty and climate of the Golden Isles. The architectural scale and attention to detail throughout the campus is exemplary. From the heavy mud set Spanish barrel tile roof to the monolithic solid concrete portico with its’ custom carved cartouche at the entrance, every opportunity was seized to match the style and grace of the best properties built in a bygone era.

The eclectic blend of Mediterranean, Moroccan, Spanish, and Tuscan influences... and mixtures of rustic and more formal finishes made for a dynamic finished result. The inclusion of extensive landscaping and a modern pool topped off an amazing project.

A crowded corner always presents a problem in the kitchen. Floating shelves is the best solution I've found to utilize the space without a heavy feeling of upper cabinets.

Very small Spanish style home, newly built for a bachelor who lived on a boat. Architecturally correct for the Santa Barbara location, with thick plaster walls and terra-cotta floors. Plaster fireplace with built in seating, for this tiny living room. Small kitchen features handscraped cabinets with limestone counters and natural edges. Bathroom has glass block separating the shower from the vanity, which actually looks amazing with the spanish tile and wrought iron work. A small wine and wine glass niche built into the plaster for this single guy's guests. Home is under 1000 sq ft, built by Maraya's husband, for his best friend. (sailing buddies). The design of the home is inspired by the very best examples of local Spanish Colonial design as seen in the famed Palmcroft and Encanto neighborhoods in Phoenix through its carefully composed massing, fenestration, and detailing. The entry arch, door awnings, plaster grille, wrought iron details and corner chimney mass are all highly evocative of the period, and along with the use of authentic three-coat stucco over metal lath, reinforces the strong sense of authenticity which emanates from the home.
