Nicola Holden DesignsFitting a quadrant shower enclosure in the bathroom allowed a WC to be incorporated into this compact space. Bold patterned encaustic cement tiles from Claybrook add colour and pattern, as do the heavily veined marble-effect floor tiles from Mandarin Stone. The shower enclosure includes a tiled niche to hold shower toiletries. The wall-hung basin vanity unit provides ample storage, whilst maximising the visible floor, giving the illusion of a larger space.

Chandler Architecture & InteriorsThe site for this project presented views of Lake Conroe's main body to the left, a pedestrian bridge spanning a calm cove to the eighth hole directly in front, and beautiful sunsets to the right. To capture the broad span of views, three walls of glass were erected to display all of the sites in dramatic fashion, while flooding the public spaces with natural light. The two-story entry is capped with a skylight spanning the entire ceiling, creating a light silo that pours natural light into the remaining areas of the home. (Built 2010)

The bright Harlequin curtain fabric and Jennifer Manners cushions in the drawing room add pattern, colour and joy to the space. The floral patterns bring a connection to nature. The dark blue sofa-bed from Made provides additional sleeping space for guests.

The feather and bird patterns in the Little Green wallpaper, the Clarke & Clarke curtain fabric, and the Anna Jacobs pendant bring a connection to nature into the space. The radiator was sprayed the same colour as the walls to allow it to disappear into the background.

In contrast, the striped pattern of the Artisans of Devizes tiles adds interest and creates a sense of movement in this small space. I used only one tile for visual simplicity, which is pattern-matched across the floor and walls.
