Client wanted a spacious kitchen with separate work zones so she could cook while her husband helped clean up. Kitchen island was designed to grow with the family and features seating for up to 5 people and a homework station, complete with outlets in the drawers, at the end of the island. Bar was intentionally designed as a more masculine version of the kitchen. The left side houses drinkware while the right side is a coffee and tea nook. Porcelain countertop runs the entirety of the bar to provide an anxiety-free coffee making experience (for us slightly OCD people out there!). Custom built parquet dining table with easy to maintain black chairs for the couples 2 young kids.

This French country laundry room exudes charm with its functional elegance. White hexagonal tile backsplash and marble-like countertops are complemented by warm, natural wood floating shelves, adorned with woven baskets for a rustic touch. The space is illuminated by brass sconces and a matching geometric chandelier, adding a contemporary yet classic flair. Black front-loading machines provide modern convenience, set against the backdrop of a patterned tile floor. The overall design creates a cozy yet chic environment, perfect for a serene home experience.

In the center of the kitchen is a waterfall island with classic marble countertop, oversized brass geometric pendants, and blue faux leather stools with brass frames. Down-to-studs remodel and second floor addition. The original house was a simple plain ranch house with a layout that didn’t function well for the family. We changed the house to a contemporary Mediterranean with an eclectic mix of details. Space was limited by City Planning requirements so an important aspect of the design was to optimize every bit of space, both inside and outside. The living space extends out to functional places in the back and front yards: a private shaded back yard and a sunny seating area in the front yard off the kitchen where neighbors can easily mingle with the family. A Japanese bath off the master bedroom upstairs overlooks a private roof deck which is screened from neighbors’ views by a trellis with plants growing from planter boxes and with lanterns hanging from a trellis above. This brownstone, located in Harlem, consists of five stories which had been duplexed to create a two story rental unit and a 3 story home for the owners. The owner hired us to do a modern renovation of their home and rear garden. The garden was under utilized, barely visible from the interior and could only be accessed via a small steel stair at the rear of the second floor. We enlarged the owner’s home to include the rear third of the floor below which had walk out access to the garden. The additional square footage became a new family room connected to the living room and kitchen on the floor above via a double height space and a new sculptural stair. The rear facade was completely restructured to allow us to install a wall to wall two story window and door system within the new double height space creating a connection not only between the two floors but with the outside. The garden itself was terraced into two levels, the bottom level of which is directly accessed from the new family room space, the upper level accessed via a few stone clad steps. The upper level of the garden features a playful interplay of stone pavers with wood decking adjacent to a large seating area and a new planting bed. Wet bar cabinetry at the family room level is mirrored by an outside cabinetry/grill configuration as another way to visually tie inside to out. The second floor features the dining room, kitchen and living room in a large open space. Wall to wall builtins from the front to the rear transition from storage to dining display to kitchen; ending at an open shelf display with a fireplace feature in the base. The third floor serves as the children’s floor with two bedrooms and two ensuite baths. The fourth floor is a master suite with a large bedroom and a large bathroom bridged by a walnut clad hall that conceals a closet system and features a built in desk. The master bath consists of a tiled partition wall dividing the space to create a large walkthrough shower for two on one side and showcasing a free standing tub on the other. The house is full of custom modern details such as the recessed, lit handrail at the house’s main stair, floor to ceiling glass partitions separating the halls from the stairs and a whimsical builtin bench in the entry.

The two-story living room features a black marble fireplace, custom built-ins, backed with warm textured wallpaper, double-height draperies, and custom upholstery. The gold and alabaster lighting acts as jewelry for this dramatic contrasting neutral palette.

His Bathroom. Outfitted with a rain shower and bench, the light gray tiled shower feels very zen. We added the darker stone tile above the vanity for contrast and a beautiful statement.
