The joining of two families is a joyous occasion! And when you have an existing home in a lovely neighborhood with space to spare, a thoughtful whole house remodel can make the space work for all eight (and one dog). Thompson Remodeling was happy to help improve the family spaces of this 4-bedroom, 3-level home and create new bedrooms and bath spaces to accommodate everyone. This whole house remodel included renovations to every level of the home, most notably on the main floor and the basement.
The big kitchen island allows for helpers in the kitchen as well as seating for five! We placed the refrigerator outside of the main cooking area for easy access by the kids. A layered light plan includes natural light from windows and French doors, overhead recessed lights, and pendant lighting for special tasks.
In the living room we converted a window seat into a small alcove to accommodate more comfortable seating for TV viewing. The new dining room fits a table and seating for eight. We also updated the mudroom to a locker room with space for each family member.
In the basement we created two new bedrooms for the oldest daughters and updated the bathroom. The new space is like a home of its own where the girls can entertain friends and hangout.
On the second level, we created a larger bathroom for the kids to share. One wall is dedicated to built-in storage cabinets to house all their towels, toiletries and laundry hampers.

Solution: To create specialized task centers which are united by a central island.

High-Functionality Laundry & Utility Room in Charlottesville, VA
Description:
As part of our extensive whole-home interior overhaul in Charlottesville, Integrity Design + Build transformed this narrow footprint into a high-performance laundry and utility hub. This project demonstrates how thoughtful space planning can turn a secondary room into one of the most hardworking areas of the home.
To maximize the long, galley-style layout, we installed a seamless run of white shaker-style cabinetry paired with durable white quartz countertops. The design features a deep, integrated utility sink with a high-arc faucet, perfect for everything from soaking linens to quick clean-ups. To save precious floor space, we utilized a stacked washer and dryer configuration, allowing for additional countertop workspace and specialized storage nooks, including a dedicated area for pet needs.
Key Design Features:
Space-Saving Stacked Units: Maximizes vertical square footage in a compact layout.
Custom Task Lighting: Bright under-cabinet LEDs ensure a well-lit workspace for sorting and folding.
Integrated Utility Sink: A high-end undermount stainless steel sink that blends utility with a clean, modern aesthetic.
Optimized Storage: A mix of closed cabinetry and open nooks designed to house laundry baskets and supplies.
Cohesive Flooring: The wide-plank white oak-style flooring continues from the main living areas, ensuring a unified feel throughout the home.
Whether you are looking to optimize a mudroom or execute a full-scale home renovation in Charlottesville, Integrity Design + Build specializes in creating spaces that are as beautiful as they are functional.

Our mural artists were charged with the special task of bringing the essence of Chef Manuel's hometown of Spain to the restaurant in Mumbai. Drawing inspiration from Spanish culture and heritage, as well as the Spanish structure, the Toledo, our artists worked diligently to create wall murals art that is authentically Mediterranean. With guidance from Mickee (Restaurant Founder) and our creative vision and expert handiwork, the restaurant was transformed into a beautiful space, full of vibrant colours and intricate details.
The restaurant structure was a perfect canvas for our wall murals. The central circular dome ceiling was the central point of the mural painting design. This was complemented by four cut-outs distributed around the dome, as well as floor-to-ceiling columns on all four sides. To create a truly Mediterranean feel, the walls were painted in a simple watercolour style of art. The texture of the walls helped to make the mural art look muted and soft. We added a lot of on-the-go elements to the ceiling to make it look fuller and more intricate.

decorative lighting was added over the island for some special task lighting as well as another touch of sparkle. An outlet on the end of the island allows the space to become a workzone of many types. A countertop overhang keeps people in the kitchen for easy communication but out of the way of the cooks prep zone.
