The bespoke built-in wardrobes we handcrafted were individually tailored with a variety of separate compartments and hanging rails to fit the homeowners’ exact specifications. The wardrobe interiors have been finished in Egger oak. This reproduction wood texture has a realistic surface that resembles the appearance and feel of natural woodgrain. The chosen graphite shade works well with any colours and materials. Compared to real oak veneer, Eggar oak is highly durable, resistant to scratches, less expensive and easy to maintain. Internally, we also installed integrated full-height LED lighting on the internal sides of each unit. Externally the doors and drawer fronts and trims have all been veneered in Mundy RRX.86.002. This veneer offers a combination of aesthetics appeal and environmental responsibility. It replicates the look and tactile nature of premium wood yet benefits from enhanced stability and sustainability features. The wood tones and texture bring a calming ambience and timeless elegance to the space. Each door and drawer front incorporates an integrated handle which gives the wardrobe units a sleek, uncluttered appearance. A stunning feature of these fitted wardrobes is the integrated plinth and shelving lighting which emanates a soft glow as you enter the room. We installed PIR (passive infrared) sensors in the skirting boards to automatically and conveniently activate the lights whenever someone is present. This is also a useful energy addition, as the lights are only on when needed. Skirting board mounting is a discreet and effective way to place PIR sensors, offering a lower profile compared to wall-mounted sensor. The built-in dressing room also includes a bespoke cushioned storage seat, numerous wide, soft-close drawers and illuminated display shelves for storage baskets and boxes. Our clients approached us to renovate their home, as it was lacking function for their family’s changing needs. They were facing issues with insufficient storage, and underutilised areas. The entry was cramped, which was especially noticeable when several people were coming in, or when carrying in groceries. The Shared Bathroom was too small, and lacked enough room for their teenage children to store their individual belongings. Additionally, since both clients work from home, a dedicated office space was essential. On the Main Floor, we relocated the closet at the entry, making the entrance more spacious, and the Powder Room was given an update and new fixtures. The wall between the Kitchen and Dining Room was removed, which opened up the Main Floor. Half of the space this created was used to create a much larger Kitchen with ample gathering space for our client’s large family. The new custom Kitchen boasts plenty of dark cabinetry with wood accents, and is complimented by a beautiful quartz countertop and matching black fixtures. The other half of the newly created space was transformed into a quiet, functional home office. In the new office, a wall of built-in cabinetry offers useful storage for both work and hobby items, creating the perfect space for both work and crafting. On the Second Floor, we expanded the Shared Bathroom by using space from the Guest Bedroom closet and the Second Floor Office. We replaced the bathtub shower combo with a spacious grand shower and added a large vanity and makeup area, giving each teenager their own dedicated personal storage space. In the Master Ensuite, we altered the entryway location, allowing for a redesigned layout that includes a large vanity and double sink, enhancing both functionality and storage. The glass front and custom wine cellar door, highlighted with metal framing in an interesting checkered pattern throughout, also posed a unique challenge within this wine cellar space. Our collaborative design was guided by Vastu Shastra, an ancient architectural tradition that predates feng shui. Based on Vedic traditions that harmonize human behavior with natural forces in the world, Vastu Shanstra basically suggests how to inhabit a place in the best way possible.
