Jeff and Mindy Wooster, of RTG Construction, have spent more than 15 years designing and constructing dream homes for their clients in the Keys and South Florida. The pair focus on single-family, custom luxury homes and have built their name on distinctive, island-style designs that reflect the beauty of the surrounding area. One of their newest builds is in Islamorada in the Upper Keys. When looking for exterior gooseneck lights for this project, Mindy searched for American-made products that were easy to customize with a porcelain enamel finish. The Rochester Vintage Industrial Gooseneck Light checked all those boxes and more.

This amazing project was the culmination of triumph after triumph in setup, design, and function. The particular requirements of the Owner started during the contract phase forcing us to create a version of the contract used before. We then spent close to 90 days creating detailed specs, and a “research and development” born out of those specifications. Full automation and “walls as straight as steel” were challenges to address, Control 4 and Boise Cascade engineered lumber checked the boxes on those two items. Possibly the to jump was making the inside of clean, straight modern lines compliment the required traditional symmetry balance of the exterior. The architect masterfully made the blend in style, and then the real work began…that is. The final hurdle was completing this masterpiece in 9 months to meet the Owner’s move schedule, entire staff of 10 all played a part in eliminating several months from the schedule. The overall sense of accomplishment on this project was shared throughout the halls of our office.

This home office was created from an outbuilding on the property. Seagrass wall-to-wall carpet was installed for ultimate durability and a relaxed vibe. We employed a high-low aesthetic to create a space that was unique but still within budget, utilizing the owner's Stickley desk, a custom desk chair, custom blush Roman shades, a Hudson Valley Fenwater chandelier and sconces, and multiple office items from budget sources like IKEA and The Container Store. Location: Denver, CO, USA Dado designed this 4,000 SF condo from top to bottom. A full-scale buildout was required, with custom fittings throughout. The brief called for design solutions that catered to both the client’s desire for comfort and easy functionality, along with a modern aesthetic that could support their bold and colorful art collection. The name of the game - calm modernism. Neutral colors and natural materials were used throughout. "After a couple of failed attempts with other design firms we were fortunate to find Megan Moore. We were looking for a modern, somewhat minimalist design for our newly built condo in Cherry Creek North. We especially liked Megan’s approach to design: specifically to look at the entire space and consider its flow from every perspective. This is the original main floor bathroom of a tiny bungalow built in the 1950's. We wanted to upgrade the aesthetic but do so on a tight budget. It was still going to be a tiny bathroom, so we used one whole wall for the mirror hoping that it would make the place feel a little bigger. This project is in the final stages. The basement is finished with a den, bedroom, full bathroom and spacious laundry room. New living spaces have been created upstairs. The kitchen has come alive with white cabinets, new countertops, a farm sink and a brick backsplash. The mudroom was incorporated at the garage entrance with a storage bench and beadboard accents. After her successful kitchen remodeling experience, Kate offers a few tips for IKEA customers. “I say ‘do it!’And use IKD. If nothing else, the fact that IKD sends a detailed item list will make your trip to IKEA to buy your kitchen so painless. When we went, the sales associate at our local IKEA could not believe the documentation we brought. The extra items list from IKD blew her mind. There were folks in the department who had clearly been there for hours trying to order. All we had to do was walk up with our pre-printed IKD list, have the sales associate type in each item number, and we were good to go.” Kate adds: “I also suggest to inventory your boxes/goods after IKEA delivers. I used the list from IKD and between inventorying, labeling, and checking each box it took me a good four and a half hours. It was well worth it to have the boxes organized and labelled, and we did not have a single item missing (including miscellaneous items).” She concludes: “IKD is the real deal and I was so pleased with the experience with our designer. She was so responsive and the process was quick. I am constantly telling people it was the best value for our money that we spent in the entire remodel process.”

The now dated 90s bath Katie spent her childhood splashing in underwent a full-scale renovation under her direction. The goal: Bring it down to the studs and make it new, without wiping away its roots.
