A close-up of a native California buckwheat in bloom, attracting a variety of pollinators. This drought-tolerant plant adds seasonal interest and supports local wildlife, making it an essential element of this wildlife-friendly garden.

A growing family, a rambling Georgian estate. The question: how to imbue tradition with a fresh spirit? The charge was to maintain the idea of old school charm without the interior feeling just… old. An illustration could be found in picture molding (which we added, then painted to disappear into the walls) or a modern plaster sculpture teetering upon an old barrister bookcase. Charm, with a wink.

Crown moulding was continued throughout the first floor of the home and the new paint color flowed into the Dining Room to add a more cohesive look between the rooms.

Plants and greenery are important in every room. They symbolize life and balance and anchor the room. The mirror above the plant serves several purposes, it helps reflect light around the room, by day with sunlight streaming through the doors, and at night by reflecting the glow of light from the lamps on the other side of the room.
The mirror in white washed and wood continues the rustic/aged look. The intention of this design is to say: this coastal home has been loved and shared for generations here on the coast, making one forget that they've just walked into an apartment. Intuitively, this gives my client the feeling of being "settled and secure", helping her not feel as uneasy as one does when they move to a new home.

The diverse collection of California native plants features a range of foliage textures—from delicate to coarse, and small to large leaves, offering many drought-tolerant options for an interesting and resilient landscape.
