An empty-nester couple was scaling down from a large house in Rye into a waterfront condo With spectacular harbor views, the condo needed a full redo including the removal of walls to open up the living spaces. We love this warm and inviting kitchen setting with custom white oak cabinetry paired with Calico White Q-Quartz countertops. A few other stand-out details include; separate Thermador Upright refrigerator & freezer, beautiful stonework above the Thermador Dual Fuel Range stove, gorgeous white and gold Liam Conical pendant lights above the center island from Visual Comfort, the elegantly gold Brizo Litze bridge faucet, and sleek gold tab edge cabinet hardware from Top Knobs.

An 8-foot-wide addition to the end of this mid-century modern gem of a home designed by the well-known local modernist architect Robert Metcalf allowed the former galley kitchen to be enlarged and modernized. The eating nook and the kitchen were flipped, moving the kitchen closer to the garage and the eating area to the end of the house to take advantage of the gorgeous view. Clean lines, glass tile backsplashes, and a glass breakfast counter give the home an update that fits beautifully with the original architect’s design. An open house lot is like a blank canvas. When Mathew first visited the wooded lot where this home would ultimately be built, the landscape spoke to him clearly. Standing with the homeowner, it took Mathew only twenty minutes to produce an initial color sketch that captured his vision - a long, circular driveway and a home with many gables set at a picturesque angle that complemented the contours of the lot perfectly. The interior was designed using a modern mix of architectural styles – a dash of craftsman combined with some colonial elements – to create a sophisticated yet truly comfortable home that would never look or feel ostentatious. Features include a bright, open study off the entry. This office space is flanked on two sides by walls of expansive windows and provides a view out to the driveway and the woods beyond. There is also a contemporary, two-story great room with a see-through fireplace. This space is the heart of the home and provides a gracious transition, through two sets of double French doors, to a four-season porch located in the landscape of the rear yard. Solid mahogany and mahogany veneer media storage extends vertical uprights with a single high shelf. Down below storage holds media units with cutouts in back to hide cords. TV can be mounted on the wall between the uprights or placed on the media stand. Flanking bookcases ladder five deep shelves with thick shelf fronts. Grey finish adds graphic contrast to the supporting wall and accentuates the group's architectural lines.

Huge re-model including taking ceiling from a flat ceiling to a complete transformation. Bamboo custom cabinetry was given a grey stain, mixed with walnut strip on the bar and the island given a different stain. Huge amounts of storage from deep pan corner drawers, roll out trash, coffee station, built in refrigerator, wine and alcohol storage, appliance garage, pantry and appliance storage, the amounts go on and on. Floating shelves with a back that just grabs the eye takes this kitchen to another level. The clients are thrilled with this huge difference from their original space.
