Our amazing clients came to us with the challenge of converting their beloved family home into a welcoming haven for all members of the family. At the time that we met our clients, they were struggling with the difficult personal decision of the fate of the home. Their father/father-in-law had passed away and their mother/mother-in-law had recently been admitted into a nursing facility and was fighting Alzheimer’s. Resistant to loss of the home now that both parents were out of it, our clients purchased the home to keep in in the family. Despite their permanent home currently being in New Jersey, these clients dedicated themselves to keeping and revitalizing the house. We were moved by the story and became immediately passionate about bringing this dream to life. The home was built by the parents of our clients and was only ever owned by them, making this a truly special space to the family. Our goal was to revitalize the home and to bring new energy into every room without losing the special characteristics that were original to the home when it was built. In this way, we were able to develop a house that maintains its own unique personality while offering a space of welcoming neutrality for all members of the family to enjoy over time. The renovation touched every part of the home: the exterior, foyer, kitchen, living room, sun room, garage, six bedrooms, three bathrooms, the laundry room, and everything in between. The focus was to develop a style that carried consistently from space to space, but allowed for unique expression in the small details in every room. Starting at the entry, we renovated the front door and entry point to offer more presence and to bring more of the mid-century vibe to the home’s exterior. We integrated a new modern front door, cedar shingle accents, new exterior paint, and gorgeous contemporary house numbers that really allow the home to stand out. Just inside the entry, we renovated the foyer to create a playful entry point worthy of attention. Cement look tile adorns the foyer floor, and we’ve added new lighting and upgraded the entry coat storage. Upon entering the home, one will immediately be captivated by the stunning kitchen just off the entry. We transformed this space in just about every way. While the footprint of the home ultimately remained almost identical, the aesthetics were completely turned on their head. We re-worked the kitchen to maximize storage and to create an informal dining area that is great for casual hosting or morning coffee. We removed the entry to the garage that was once in the informal dining, and created a peninsula in its place that offers a unique division between the kitchen/informal dining and the formal dining and living areas. The simple light warm light gray cabinetry offers a bit of traditional elegance, along with the marble backsplash and quartz countertops. We extended the original wood flooring into the kitchen and stained all floors to match for a warmth that truly resonates through all spaces. We upgraded appliances, added lighting everywhere, and finished the space with some gorgeous mid century furniture pieces. In the formal dining and living room, we really focused on maintaining the original marble fireplace as a focal point. We cleaned the marble, repaired the mortar, and refinished the original fireplace screen to give a new sleek look in black. We then integrated a new gas insert for modern heating and painted the upper portion in a rich navy blue; an accent that is carried through the home consistently as a nod to our client’s love of the color. The former entry into the old covered porch is now an elegant glass door leading to a stunning finished sunroom. This room was completely upgraded as well. We wrapped the entire space in cozy white shiplap to keep a casual feel with brightness. We tiled the floor with large format concrete look tile, and painted the old brick fireplace a bright white. We installed a new gas burning unit, and integrated transitional style lighting to bring warmth and elegance into the space. The new black-frame windows are adorned with decorative shades that feature hand-sketched bird prints, and we’ve created a dedicated garden-ware “nook” for our client who loves to work in the yard. The far end of this space is completed with two oversized chaise loungers and overhead lights…the most perfect little reading nook! Just off the dining room, we created an entirely new space to the home: a mudroom. The clients lacked this space and desperately needed a landing spot upon entering the home from the garage. We uniquely planned existing space in the garage to utilize for this purpose, and were able to create a small but functional entry point without losing the ability to park cars in the garage. This new space features cement-look tile, gorgeous deep brown cabinetry, and plenty of storage for all the small items one might need to store while moving in and out of the home. The remainder of the upstairs level includes massive renovations to the guest hall bathroom and guest bedroom, upstairs master bed/bath suite, and a third bedroom that we converted into a home office for the client. Some of the largest transformations were made in the basement, where unfinished space and lack of light were converted into gloriously lit, cozy, finished spaces. Our first task was to convert the massive basement living room into the new master bedroom for our clients. We removed existing built-ins, created an entirely new walk-in closet, painted the old brick fireplace, installed a new gas unit, added carpet, introduced new lighting, replaced windows, and upgraded every part of the aesthetic appearance. One of the most incredible features of this space is the custom double sliding barn door made by a Denver artisan. This space is truly a retreat for our clients! We also completely transformed the laundry room, back storage room, basement master bathroom, and two bedrooms. This home’s massive scope and ever-evolving challenges were thrilling and exciting to work with, and the result is absolutely amazing. At the end of the day, this home offers a look and feel that the clients love. This Wooded Retreat project started with the removal of a large area of bamboo roots, re-grading the area after, and installing bamboo containment barrier. All root materials were be excavated and disposed of off site. We then graded the side yard to eliminate mounds and low areas, removed rocks and boulders which were be used on front bank. Grading was also done in preparation for fence installation. Bamboo containment barrier was installed from street down to back of property. 2 truckloads of top soil was hauled in to fill areas where bamboo roots were excavated. The newly installed topsoil was fine graded to prep for the fence and plantings. Tree work including tree trimming and tree removal throughout the site was done by Arborist Enterprises. This luxurious portion of this project included a complete landscape design featuring Trees and shrub installation with all disturbed ground covered with natural wood chips. Natural stone steps along driveway were installed using local gray/earth tone treads. The patio surface was installed using natural irregular flagstone, natural stone treads for steps, and PA Limestone boulders to retain grade around patio. The fire pit consisted of a natural stacked stone ring and ‘Zentro’ Smokeless Fire Pit insert. Natural stone paths were installed using natural large irregular flagstone slabs. All landscape lighting installed was Kichler LED light fixtures.

Our client wanted a fire pit, but didn't want the hassle of starting fires with wood and having to store the wood. The natural gas fire pit accomplished all the goals.

Our Clients were ready for a complete overhaul of their existing finished basement. The existing layout did not work for their family and the finishes were old and dated. We started with the fireplace as we wanted it to be a focal point. The interlaced natural stone almost has a geometric texture to it. It brings in both the natural elements the clients love and also a much more modern feel. We changed out the old wood burning fireplace to gas and our cabinet maker created a custom maple mantel and open shelving. We balanced the asymmetry with a tv cabinet using the same maple wood for the top. The bar was also a feature we wanted to highlight- it was previously in an inconvenient spot so we moved it. We created a recessed area for it to sit so that it didn't intrude into the space around the pool table. The countertop is a beautiful natural quartzite that ties all of the finishes together. The porcelain strip backsplash adds a simple, but modern feel and we tied in the maple by adding open shelving. We created a custom bar table using a matching wood top with plenty of seating for friends and family to gather. We kept the bathroom layout the same, but updated all of the finishes. We wanted it to be an extension of the main basement space. The shower tile is a 12 x 24 porcelain that matches the tile at the bar and the fireplace hearth. We used the same quartzite from the bar for the vanity top. Overall, we achieved a warm and cozy, yet modern space for the family to enjoy together and when entertaining family and friends.

This classy final product was the result of many challenging weeks and lots of changes! What started out as a pretty large scope of work turned into a massive scope of work, and we ended up designing and reworking just about every part of every space in the house. On the main level, we upgraded an existing powder room, adding a pantry to the kitchen, installed a new gas fireplace to replace the old wood burning, painted everything with a new fresh palette, scraped off the popcorn ceilings, and implemented a new lighting scheme throughout. Inspired by the original wood burning stoves that our founder created at the start of the last century, the Heritage Series ranges are controlled by striking rounded chrome knobs. Familiar and comfortable to use, they are a key part of the design character of the series.

“Wine & Hockey” is in this family’s blood. Long time Washington Capitals fans and wine collector. They have lived in this prominent golf-course neighborhood for several years and now it comes time to finish their basement. He has been collecting more than thousands of wine bottles from all over the world, possibly worth over a couple hundred thousand -- this is the time that he wanted to display and show it all off. Tailgater and diehard Capitals fan that they are, they own several memorable autographed player jerseys and lots of collectables worth being in hall-of-fame stands. With all these ideas in mind, we have started the construction of this basement. The main event room with big pub style bar fully equipped with a wine cooler, beer fridge, and a built-in wall for all top shelf liquor. Built with dark cherry wood and exquisite stone top under stylish pendent lights is a heart of this space. A hidden storage door built with display shelving just to the right of the bar, giving access to storage behind this bar. To the left of this a stone wall, an embedded fireplace giving a cozy feel for seating and gaming area while facing the giant screen TV. This carefully designed wine cellar features the best of the best wine collection in wrapped around mahogany wine racks, beaded stain grade paneling, exotic stone counter, Muriel center stone, equipped with high efficiency chiller system, all just behind custom made door arch panel glass door. “This view is spectacular.” Wide plank flooring throughout leading into the end of hallway. There is a Gym with mirror walls and rubber floors, room to burn off all the wine calories! The full bathroom with stoned shower, and immaculate fixtures just outside of the gym. The lighting effect is a highlight of this project. We designed a feature wall for framed memorable jerseys and hidden storage for all of their valued VCR tapes of capital games. This basement is not a regular space, but it is a hall of fame for Hockey and Wine.

The design of this panel was created to celebrate the ancestral history of our client’s family line, the Mackenzie clan. At the top of the panel, you can see the words “Luceo non uro,” the official motto of the Mackenzie clan. It means “I burn, not shine,” a powerful message for this unique heirloom that will be in their family for several generations. This stunning home was built by RUBIX Luxury Builder in Burns, Tennessee, as the personal residence of the builder. Set on a 5-acre lot just outside Nashville, The Rometta impresses from the start with contrasting black siding and a natural stone façade. A striking waterfall-style concrete walkway leads to the entrance—truly a work of art. In the back, you'll find a fenced-in yard complete with a spacious covered porch, a sparkling pool, and a cozy firepit—perfect for outdoor living. A dramatic archway opens to a two-story foyer with an elegant open staircase. The great room features a central fireplace flanked by custom built-ins, and the black-and-white kitchen continues the bold design aesthetic. Family dining is accommodated with both a breakfast nook and formal dining room, while a walk-in pantry and butler’s pantry add everyday convenience. The luxurious master suite is located on the first floor and boasts a tray ceiling and bay window. This project was such an incredible design opportunity, and instilled inspiration and excitement at every turn! Our amazing clients came to us with the challenge of converting their beloved family home into a welcoming haven for all members of the family. At the time that we met our clients, they were struggling with the difficult personal decision of the fate of the home. Their father/father-in-law had passed away and their mother/mother-in-law had recently been admitted into a nursing facility and was fighting Alzheimer’s. Resistant to loss of the home now that both parents were out of it, our clients purchased the home to keep in in the family. Despite their permanent home currently being in New Jersey, these clients dedicated themselves to keeping and revitalizing the house. We were moved by the story and became immediately passionate about bringing this dream to life. The home was built by the parents of our clients and was only ever owned by them, making this a truly special space to the family. Our goal was to revitalize the home and to bring new energy into every room without losing the special characteristics that were original to the home when it was built. In this way, we were able to develop a house that maintains its own unique personality while offering a space of welcoming neutrality for all members of the family to enjoy over time. The renovation touched every part of the home: the exterior, foyer, kitchen, living room, sun room, garage, six bedrooms, three bathrooms, the laundry room, and everything in between. The focus was to develop a style that carried consistently from space to space, but allowed for unique expression in the small details in every room. Starting at the entry, we renovated the front door and entry point to offer more presence and to bring more of the mid-century vibe to the home’s exterior. We integrated a new modern front door, cedar shingle accents, new exterior paint, and gorgeous contemporary house numbers that really allow the home to stand out. Just inside the entry, we renovated the foyer to create a playful entry point worthy of attention. Cement look tile adorns the foyer floor, and we’ve added new lighting and upgraded the entry coat storage. Upon entering the home, one will immediately be captivated by the stunning kitchen just off the entry. We transformed this space in just about every way. While the footprint of the home ultimately remained almost identical, the aesthetics were completely turned on their head. We re-worked the kitchen to maximize storage and to create an informal dining area that is great for casual hosting or morning coffee. We removed the entry to the garage that was once in the informal dining, and created a peninsula in its place that offers a unique division between the kitchen/informal dining and the formal dining and living areas. The simple light warm light gray cabinetry offers a bit of traditional elegance, along with the marble backsplash and quartz countertops. We extended the original wood flooring into the kitchen and stained all floors to match for a warmth that truly resonates through all spaces. We upgraded appliances, added lighting everywhere, and finished the space with some gorgeous mid century furniture pieces. In the formal dining and living room, we really focused on maintaining the original marble fireplace as a focal point. We cleaned the marble, repaired the mortar, and refinished the original fireplace screen to give a new sleek look in black. We then integrated a new gas insert for modern heating and painted the upper portion in a rich navy blue; an accent that is carried through the home consistently as a nod to our client’s love of the color. The former entry into the old covered porch is now an elegant glass door leading to a stunning finished sunroom. This room was completely upgraded as well. We wrapped the entire space in cozy white shiplap to keep a casual feel with brightness. We tiled the floor with large format concrete look tile, and painted the old brick fireplace a bright white. We installed a new gas burning unit, and integrated transitional style lighting to bring warmth and elegance into the space. The new black-frame windows are adorned with decorative shades that feature hand-sketched bird prints, and we’ve created a dedicated garden-ware “nook” for our client who loves to work in the yard. The far end of this space is completed with two oversized chaise loungers and overhead lights…the most perfect little reading nook! Just off the dining room, we created an entirely new space to the home: a mudroom. The clients lacked this space and desperately needed a landing spot upon entering the home from the garage. We uniquely planned existing space in the garage to utilize for this purpose, and were able to create a small but functional entry point without losing the ability to park cars in the garage. This new space features cement-look tile, gorgeous deep brown cabinetry, and plenty of storage for all the small items one might need to store while moving in and out of the home. This classy final product was the result of many challenging weeks and lots of changes! What started out as a pretty large scope of work turned into a massive scope of work, and we ended up designing and reworking just about every part of every space in the house. On the main level, we upgraded an existing powder room, adding a pantry to the kitchen, installed a new gas fireplace to replace the old wood burning, painted everything with a new fresh palette, scraped off the popcorn ceilings, and implemented a new lighting scheme throughout. Upstairs, we did a full upgrade remodel to the guest bathroom, and gorgeous renovation to the master bathroom. We installed new ceiling fans in every bedroom, painted the entire level, hung a new stairwell chandelier, replaced closet doors, scraped popcorn ceilings, and added recessed lights. In the basement, we added a new stair railing, remodeled the basement bathroom, completed re-faced the existing fireplace and hearth, added a new gas insert, created a gorgeous back storage wall, and scraped popcorn ceilings. We also painted and added recessed lighting here, and replaced old wood doors with fresh white ones. Our client wanted to open up and upgrade their kitchen, living room, dining room, and new flooring for all the main floor living spaces, except the bedrooms and bathrooms. We started by knocking down a few walls between the kitchen and dining room, as well as a wall separating the kitchen and back entry. This made for a much more open concept throughout the home.
