This customer from Woking had a Quarry tiled kitchen floor that she simply didn’t think could be restored. The floor had been unearthed after many years of being covered by a layer of levelling compound cement and then linoleum. Indeed, the situation certainly looked dire, but I carried out a successful test clean on a patch of the floor where the cement was at its thickest to show that it would be possible to conduct a full restoration. Having seen the results, the customer was more than happy for me to get the work underway. To begin the restoration, I soaked small sections with water and Tile Doctor Remove and Go our heavy duty coatings remover. The solution was left to dwell for a short period to soften the cement, before I used the heat from a steamer in combination with a hand scraper to begin lifting away the muck. As you can probably imagine, this was an arduous and intensive process which took a full four days to fully complete. Next, I cleaned the cement-free tiles using our high alkaline tile cleaning product Tile Doctor Pro Clean diluted 1 part cleaner with 3 parts water. This helped to eradicate the leftover muck once I had removed the bulk of the cement. I then sprayed Tile Doctor Grout Clean Up onto the grout lines and tiles to fully neutralise them and also remove any cement residue. Finally, I steamed the floor and left it for a week to dry out completely. Upon my return to the property I sealed the floor with two coats of Tile Doctor Colour Grow, an impregnating sealer which really enhances the natural colours stone, and four coats of Tile Doctor Seal and Go, a topical sealer which provides a high quality sheen finish and durable protection against stains. The customer was over the moon with the results and left some great feedback: “Wayne did a really superb job. It was a very tough task, hot and exhausting, but he was fantastically good-humoured throughout, and kept me really well-informed. He was 100% reliable and very good at communicating between visits. What do you do when your master suite addition is limited in width. It is not an issue for the bedroom since it enjoys the full width of the 16' but what about the bathroom and closet that you need to be grand in design as well? In this bathroom you can see the solution to this age-old question, how to make a narrow space look grand. The end of this bathroom boosts a huge 9' wide by 6' deep shower wet area with a freestanding tub on one side and a bench, niche and window on the other. The vaulted ceiling above has 3 large skylights with one of them directly above the shower area. The skylights provide a huge amount of natural light that cancels any need for artificial lighting to be used during the daytime. The main wall is dark Pietra grigio porcelain book matched slabs, while the sides are 48"x48" off-white porcelain tiles. The plumbing fixtures are Kohler Anthem digital control for the minimalistic look. Right before you get into the wet area you will have a niche with a built-in seating area the doubles as a storage/laundry cabinet and two thick shelves made of Alder wood to compliment the vanity, the beam and the water closet door. A 10' vanity with a large 9.5' mirror is a great trick to create a sensation of space in the narrow 5' passageway. The final touch is the hidden water closet, the space was taken from the Walk-in closet entry area to hide the toilet from the beautiful spa looking bathroom. The last item to be mentioned is the heated floor that is controlled by a timer to make sure the flooring is warm to the touch on the cold winter nights. The walk-in closet was custom built to accommodate all the client’s storage requirements, the different deeper and shallower niches that were created by space added to the bathroom are used for shallow wall led mirror or a deeper suites hanger and the crown jewel of this closet the steam closet by LG that provide the capabilities of a steamer / dry-cleaning in your private closet space. A center drawer cabinet with glass top cabinets with built-in LED strips and puck lights create a lovely ambient lighting if needed and show casing the different perfumes and handbags. Talking about show casing, how about the his/hers shoes towers on each side of the cabinets in the middle? The master bedroom is a bit more craftsman and cozy. Whitewashed shiplap on the vaulted ceiling creates a more of a countryside look with vast number of windows and a sliding door to allow both eastern and western light to penetrate the room.

It was a fun remodel. We started with a blank canvas and went through several designs until the homeowner decided. We all agreed, it was the perfect design. We removed the old shower and gave the owner a spa-like seating area. We installed a Steamer in the shower, with a marble slab bench seat. We installed a Newport shower valve with a handheld sprayer. Four small LED lights surrounding a 24" Rain-Shower in the ceiling. We installed two top-mounted sink-bowls, with wall-mounted faucets.

The lower level of the bank barn is designed to be a shop. The slab is heated to get under the Steamers to work on them. There are multiple timber beams and floor joists above so that the cars can drive on the floor above. The timber posts stand up above the floor on exposed-aggregate, shaped concrete piers.

My client had some wasted space in the hallway leading to her closets and we came up with a beautiful solution that flows seamlessly with her bathroom cabinetry. This cabinet has extra shoe shelves, tie storage, jewelry storage, 4 hampers, handbag storage and a large cabinet to hide the cumbersome steamer and ironing board.

This master bathroom was one of the more challanging projects we have ever preformed. Creating the curbless shower/ trough drain application with the framing restrictions in this 100+ year old house took some creative thinking. The finished product turned out amazing, and includes: heated flooring, heated towell bar, shower steamer, three pre-programed shower valves, waterfall slab bench, soaking tub, LED back lights, floating duel vanities with under lighting and a super unique tile pattern designed by the homeowners.
