Encompassing a range of baluster rails, newel posts and complementary decorative accessories, Outwater's new, maintenance free Cast Stone Balustrade System is manufactured utilizing a unique process that combines a mixture of resins with crushed limestone and impregnated fade resistant textured colors to create balustrades that look and feel just like authentic limestone balusters at less than half of their cost and weight.
Intended for indoor or outdoor applications, which can be assembled by laypeople using traditional carpentry tools without the need for masonry, Outwater's Cast Stone Balustrade System meets the 4-inch sphere code when properly set up, and can be placed on sized dimensional lumber without the need for steel supports.
Moreover, unlike lesser quality balustrade systems, which use regular screws to attach their components, also taking into account that the screws' imminent corrosion renders them as an unsafe means by which to attach baluster rails, Outwater's Cast Stone Balustrade System employs a unique incorporated pipe system, connector pins and spacers to increase the Balustrade System's stability while allowing for a more secure and professional installation with barely perceptible seams.
Offered in 34-in. and 48-in. overall heights with a nominal 7-in rail width, baluster rails are sold by the foot up to 16-ft. long to accommodate most any installation.
100% mold resistant, non-porous and unaffected by the harshest elements, Outwater's Cast Stone Balustrade System does not require priming, painting or even occasional touch ups, further enhancing its appeal.

A fun, custom and unique creation we designed and constructed which incorporates many facets to your outdoor living experience! With symmetry in mind we still wanted to bring forth a "softness" to this ensemble. Soft arches and curves combined with a balanced layout and symmetrically cut stone. We used one of our favorite types of stone for the facade- an Oklahoma thick flagstone called "Ozark". We installed this in a dry stack pattern for all vertical surfaces other than the sides of the chimney and pizza oven where we used a buff colored mortar to create a shadow joint. A thick Pennsylvania Bluestone was used for the counter top. The intricate "thin flag feather" insets and backsplash is a Tennessee thin flgastone veneer called "Crab Orchard ( gray). This was painstakingly cut and installed piece by piece in a dry stack pattern. Extremely time consuming but gorgeous! The chimney sits app. 12' tall and the pizza oven sits app. 9' tall. Plenty of room in between for the Green Egg, sink, refrigerator, grill and cabinets. Low voltage night lighting was also incorporated into the backsplash as well as surrounding landscape. We also recommend a clean burning wood for pizza ovens. This one is stocked with European White Birch.
These photos do not do this project justice, yet due to the season we will be posting better ones come summer time. Copper planters will also be placed on top of the 16" wide backsplash cap.

Views can’t get much better than this, especially framed by Montana Timber Products ranchwood™ Timbers. This magnificent rustic home perched over the highlands of Wyoming exhibits all that our company is about.
The Ranchwood Prairie finish was chosen to accentuate the natural beauty surrounding this high-mountain Wyoming cabin. Montana Timber Products has the ability to work with Timbers in both Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar and we have several texturing options from a very smooth surfaced option to a Pioneer texture that will look like it lived through a shootout at the OK Saloon.
Our flagship product, ranchwood™ is Montana Timber Products’ chemical free, kiln dried, alternative milled rough stock wood.
As an ideal reclaimed lumber alternative, the aesthetically pleasing rustic barn wood ranchwood™ is the result of an environmentally safe production process.
Offering uncompromising natural, rustic beauty, ranchwood™ is typically less expensive than antique reclaimed barnwood.
Here we see a horizontal square edge lap siding finished in Ranchwood Eastern and hi-lighted by the Ranchwood Prairie natural wood columns. Montana Timber Products is an excellent choice to provide a variety of exposed beams and exposed timber accents, both for exterior and interior applications.
Wire Brushed and Circle Sawn are Montana Timber Products typical texturizing options, but Montana Timber Products is a custom millwork shop that caters to our customer’s needs.
Circle Sawn texture seen on Montana Timber Products natural wood siding is created by large circular saw blades used in more traditional milling practices.
Added physical and aesthetic depth to the wood grain is available as the Wire Brushed option.
Greater surface area is added during the texturizing process, allowing Seal-Once, 100% NO VOC waterfproofer to more effectively penetrate the wood.
Seal-Once is guaranteed for ten years from water ingress and is safe for exterior and interior use, pets and children.
Montana Timber Products receives repeat orders from contractors who appreciate the fast turnaround time, the custom pre-finishes, variety of color options, and the ability to handle small columns or large ridge beams such a 10″ x 30″ beam applied to this project.
If the environmentally friendly and the renewable aspect of natural wood siding is important to you, be sure to do your homework when choosing your siding, interior accents, trim, timbers, or other wood siding products. Some companies choose to use degenerative chemicals to achieve the desired look and texture of rustic wood siding. This is not the case with Montana Timber Products.
Vintage wood, reclaimed barn wood and reclaimed barn wood alternatives are very popular building materials due to their aesthetic beauty, traditional look, and chemical free finish.

Franklin County's Award-Winning Design, Build and Remodeling Expert

When an international client moved from Brazil to Stamford, Connecticut, they reached out to Decor Aid, and asked for our help in modernizing a recently purchased suburban home. The client felt that the house was too “cookie-cutter,” and wanted to transform their space into a highly individualized home for their energetic family of four.
In addition to giving the house a more updated and modern feel, the client wanted to use the interior design as an opportunity to segment and demarcate each area of the home. They requested that the downstairs area be transformed into a media room, where the whole family could hang out together. Both of the parents work from home, and so their office spaces had to be sequestered from the rest of the house, but conceived without any disruptive design elements. And as the husband is a photographer, he wanted to put his own artwork on display. So the furniture that we sourced had to balance the more traditional elements of the house, while also feeling cohesive with the husband’s bold, graphic, contemporary style of photography.
The first step in transforming this house was repainting the interior and exterior, which were originally done in outdated beige and taupe colors. To set the tone for a classically modern design scheme, we painted the exterior a charcoal grey, with a white trim, and repainted the door a crimson red. The home offices were placed in a quiet corner of the house, and outfitted with a similar color palette: grey walls, a white trim, and red accents, for a seamless transition between work space and home life.
The house is situated on the edge of a Connecticut forest, with clusters of maple, birch, and hemlock trees lining the property. So we installed white window treatments, to accentuate the natural surroundings, and to highlight the angular architecture of the home.
In the entryway, a bold, graphic print, and a thick-pile sheepskin rug set the tone for this modern, yet comfortable home. While the formal room was conceived with a high-contrast neutral palette and angular, contemporary furniture, the downstairs media area includes a spiral staircase, comfortable furniture, and patterned accent pillows, which creates a more relaxed atmosphere. Equipped with a television, a fully-stocked bar, and a variety of table games, the downstairs media area has something for everyone in this energetic young family.

Patrice's Bathroom. I enjoyed developing the details of the tub platform extending through the frameless glass and becoming the shower seat.I had hoped that the tile in the shower would have extended out of the shower and become the backsplash, but that part of the design was not developed at Halpern Architects.
One of the challenges of doing an Extreme Makeover house is developing details that can be field assembled quickly. In this case, working with Nationwide Homes, the modular home company that built "The boxes", a range of details were developed to make things easier. The tub and surround was installed By Nationwide. To facilitate connections and service without the visual or technical complications of an access panel, access was provided from below.
Throughout the design process, I had insisted that all of the plumbing, mechanical and electrical connections occur in the crawlspace, allowing the work to continue without crowding the interior of the house.
Many of the time saving details were worked out through a great working relationship between Fusion Custom Homes, who was the general contractor, Nationwide Homes, who was the modular home manufacturer, and Halpern Architects. The crawlspace was constructed taller than usual with nearly full standing headroom and a full height access door was provided from the exterior, allowing workman to come and go at will, without having to enter the house. This also allowed multiple trades to stock the job and work at the same time.

Hey let’s do both baths. We remodeled both the master and hall bath in this West Chester home. The original master bath was a carpeted vanity area with a separate tub/shower fiberglass insert and toilet room. We removed the wall between the 2 areas and designed a new bathroom with a larger tiled shower with frameless glass surround. We installed new Fabuwood cabinetry in the Galaxy door style in Espresso finish; adding a linen closet cabinet for extra storage. The new Andino White granite countertop and shower wall caps and seat really look great with the Rohl vanity bowls, sink and shower fixtures, and accessories. The large format 12x24 tiles in the shower and the floor provide a clean simple feel. The bright paint gives great contrast and really makes it all pop.
The hall bath was fully remodeled as well. New tub, vanity, tile, paint, and fixtures. The Fabuwood Nexus Frost vanity was centered to give a more furniture look. The vanity top is a stock prefabricated granite top by Wolf in Luna Bai; a great inexpensive choice for the higher end look. The shower was done with 6x6 tiles on a diagonal with glass and brushed nickel trimmed corner shelves. The bowed shower curtain rod is a great way to get extra room inside a tub/ shower.
All together 2 sharp looking remodeled baths both with great color and product selections.

These Cabinet Glass Panels show how the Four Piece Star Bevel Clusters create a Play of Light & Dimension and with the addition of Single Star Stock Bevel, this Design becomes a Custom Look for a Semi-Custom Price.
Notice how we were able to incorporate the small cabinet glass with just the right touch by using a single Star Bevel, and now everything lines up perfectly.
The glass sizes shown are - 15-1/2" x 30-1/4" for the larger panels and for the two smaller panels the size measures - 9-7/16" x 12-1/4" .
The panels were made using Clear Custom Star Beveled Glass Clusters ( made my us In-House ) single Star Beveled Glass Stars with the background surrounding glass being Spectrum Glass - 100HS Small Hammered Glass.
We used our Dark Antique Patina Lead Came for a dramatic effect without being overstated and the colors work perfectly with the cabinet hardware.

We designed the cabinet in this hallway by starting with a pair of antique carved cabinet doors from France. Using a reclaimed painted window above and surrounding both pieces with new stock molding gives the appearance of an old built in cabinet.
