To make this kitchen really stand out, they decided to go with two-tone colored cabinets. They went with a maple shaker door from our Kitchen Solvers Classic Collection line. The cabinets were done in a snow white color while the island was done in a Gale Force color. To finish the transformation, we added a Peppercorn Quartz countertop and a Canvas Meringue white subway tile backsplash. This kitchen is now beautifully updated, and the homeowner has a more functioning kitchen with tons of storage and seating.

The kitchen features Greenfield Cabinetry in the Carlton door style in two painted finishes. The perimeter cabinets are in the finish Repose and the kitchen island the Benjamin Moore color San Jose Blue. Kitchen countertops are MSI Q in the color Snow White. Custom glass mosaic tile was provided by others. “Working with Kathryn Oddo of Interiors Unlimited and Roger White of White Builders, this kitchen was so much fun to work on,” said Darcie. “The customer loves bright colors and wanted to incorporate them into the design to transform a darker and less functional kitchen. It was a refreshing change from the white cabinets. Supply issues forced us to re-visit the island countertop selection. This was the biggest challenge for this project because the kitchen was designed around the original selection as a focal point. We were excited when the homeowners of this project approached us to help them with their whole house remodel as this is a historic preservation project. The historical society has approved this remodel. As part of that distinction we had to honor the original look of the home; keeping the façade updated but intact. For example the doors and windows are new but they were made as replicas to the originals. The homeowners were relocating from the Inland Empire to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. One of their requests was additional living space. In order to achieve this we added a second story to the home while ensuring that it was in character with the original structure. The interior of the home is all new. It features all new plumbing, electrical and HVAC. Although the home is a Spanish Revival the homeowners style on the interior of the home is very traditional. The project features a home gym as it is important to the homeowners to stay healthy and fit. The kitchen / great room was designed so that the homewoners could spend time with their daughter and her children. The home features two master bedroom suites. One is upstairs and the other one is down stairs. The homeowners prefer to use the downstairs version as they are not forced to use the stairs. A wine refrigerator and outlets conveniently located on the island and around the backsplash are the modern updates that were important to the homeowners. Master bath: The master bath enjoys both a soaking tub and a large shower with body sprayers and hand held. For privacy, the bidet was placed in a water closet next to the shower. There is plenty of counter space in this bathroom which even includes a makeup table. With the abundance of cabinetry, we chose to brighten the room with Alabaster perimeter cabinets while contrasting the island with a java stain and vintage glaze. The custom wood hood was an important detail for completing the owners vision. The banquet seat allowed the table to permanently live closer to the wall relaxing traffic flow as well as adding warmth and coziness to the space. Winter Storm granite countertops, beige travertine 3 x 6 backsplash kept the room light. A dark mocha decorative framed accent behind the cooktop and perimeter border adds visual interest and compliments the warms of the island. The clients had a need for an abundance of storage in their kitchen redesign. By reconfiguring the existing pantry and desk wall, we were able to rework the island size and pantry storage. The new layout also allowed for a small buffet space for ease of entertaining guests in the adjacent dining room. Working around an existing return vent posed a challenge. Our team recently had the privilege of working with some of our favorite repeat clients who had just moved into their new home. Project Manager, Tony Cicchino, and Designer, Justina Auer, joined forces to work their magic and the results are truly remarkable! The clients wanted to transform and empty room into a multipurpose mudroom and laundry space. Featuring the main laundry machines and ample storage for all the garage overflow, the room is now a hub of organization. The base cabinets were cleverly designed to be built up a few inches to keep harmful items away from little ones and offer an excellent level space for folding and sorting clothes. Practicality meets style! The clients also left their previous home with fond memories of the built-ins we installed in their previous home, and they wanted a similar setup for their new game room. This home, set at the end of a long, private driveway, is far more than meets the eye. Built in three sections and connected by two breezeways, the home’s setting takes full advantage of the clean ocean air. Set back from the water on an open plot, its lush lawn is bordered by fieldstone walls that lead to an ocean cove. The hideaway calms the mind and spirit, not only by its privacy from the noise of daily life, but through well-chosen elements, clean lines, and a bright, cheerful feel throughout. The interior is show-stopping, covered almost entirely in clear, vertical-grain fir—most of which was source from the same place. From the flooring to the walls, columns, staircases and ceiling beams, this special, tight-grain wood brightens every room in the home. At just over 3,000 feet of living area, storage and smart use of space was a huge consideration in the creation of this home. For example, the mudroom and living room were both built with expansive window seating with storage beneath. Built-in drawers and cabinets can also be found throughout, yet never interfere with the distinctly uncluttered feel of the rooms. The homeowners wanted the home to fit in as naturally as possible with the Cape Cod landscape, and also desired a feeling of virtual seamlessness between the indoors and out, resulting in an abundance of windows and doors throughout. This home has high performance windows, which are rated to withstand hurricane-force winds and impact rated against wind-borne debris. The 24-foot skylight, which was installed by crane, consists of six independently mechanized shades operating in unison. As designers, maintaining the flow of a home is very important to us and our mission is to enhance the home’s existing features. From the wine cellar door to the ceiling, we were able to bring our A-game and create a complementary extension to our customer’s home. Our custom wine cellar door is equipped with a matching threshold, that holds all of the cold air in place. When you take a step inside, you are greeted from floor to ceiling with exquisite design. From our customer’s collectible storage boxes to 4 upward facing display shelves, you are immediately aware that this is a work of art. Each display shelf is adorned with its own light strip that further draws attention to the collectible wine bottles. As you glance up further, you see our storage shelves in full force. Playing off of the vast collection, we decided to install a mirrored ceiling. This design element allowed us to have some fun, and to further accentuate the large collection. This modern wine cellar is complete with a clear glass insulated Modern door that creates a temperature-controlled environment, conducive for preserving wine for decades. As designers, we were presented with a wonderful opportunity to showcase several of our strong suits. We were able to provide our client with a modern wine cellar, as well as an engineered, temperature-controlled environment. We were excited when the homeowners of this project approached us to help them with their whole house remodel as this is a historic preservation project. The historical society has approved this remodel. As part of that distinction we had to honor the original look of the home; keeping the façade updated but intact. For example the doors and windows are new but they were made as replicas to the originals. The homeowners were relocating from the Inland Empire to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. One of their requests was additional living space. In order to achieve this we added a second story to the home while ensuring that it was in character with the original structure. The interior of the home is all new. It features all new plumbing, electrical and HVAC. Although the home is a Spanish Revival the homeowners style on the interior of the home is very traditional. The project features a home gym as it is important to the homeowners to stay healthy and fit. The kitchen / great room was designed so that the homewoners could spend time with their daughter and her children. The home features two master bedroom suites. One is upstairs and the other one is down stairs. The homeowners prefer to use the downstairs version as they are not forced to use the stairs. They have left the upstairs master suite as a guest suite. All of the windows and doors were replicated to match the original styling of the house. The roof is a combination of Gable and Hip and is made of red clay tile. The arched door and windows are typical of Spanish Revival. The home also features a Juliette Balcony and window. Library / Living Room: The library offers Pocket Doors and custom bookcases. Powder Room: This powder room has a black toilet and Herringbone travertine. Kitchen: This kitchen was designed for someone who likes to cook! It features a Pot Filler, a peninsula and an island, a prep sink in the island, and cookbook storage on the end of the peninsula. The homeowners opted for a mix of stainless and paneled appliances. Although they have a formal dining room they wanted a casual breakfast area to enjoy informal meals with their grandchildren. The kitchen also utilizes a mix of recessed lighting and pendant lights. A wine refrigerator and outlets conveniently located on the island and around the backsplash are the modern updates that were important to the homeowners. Master bath: The master bath enjoys both a soaking tub and a large shower with body sprayers and hand held. For privacy, the bidet was placed in a water closet next to the shower. There is plenty of counter space in this bathroom which even includes a makeup table. Staircase: The staircase features a decorative niche Upstairs master suite: The upstairs master suite features the Juliette balcony Outside: Wanting to take advantage of southern California living the homeowners requested an outdoor kitchen complete with retractable awning. The fountain and lounging furniture keep it light. Home gym: This gym comes completed with rubberized floor covering and dedicated bathroom. It also features its own HVAC system and wall mounted TV.
