THEME A passion for sports that never
grows up, never grows old and never tires
is at the heart of this room. Designed as a
den/office for a radio sports talent who’s
life work revolves around stats, scores, free
agents and athletes, the room ensures that its owner is surrounded by the teams and games he loves, with room for storage, a desk, a computer station and some personal accents.
FOCUS Four baseball stadium seats
procured from the old Tiger Stadium in
Detroit, repainted with a faux wood grain
look and personalized with each member of
the family’s name give the room a true sports feel. Favorite team jerseys as well as team logos — painted tan to match the overall look of the room — highlight the space. Large wall towers divide the room into three distinct spaces. The central area houses two TV monitors and a hidden computer system, while the other two areas display oversized family photos in sepia tone prints and custom, matching frames. The towers, which provide storage, were purchased at Pottery Barn, and already in the room. To make them more functional, height was added to bring them to the ceiling, and the room’s crown molding is taken around each tower’s top to create a seamless flow.
STORAGE The creation of the towers
gives the room plenty of useful storage,
including display areas, multiple shelves,
and a place to hide computer accessories and office supplies.
GROWTH The room can easily change
over time as new sports memorabilia and
family photos are added or switched out.
SAFETY All wires for the monitors and
computer system are hidden within the wall
and inside the storage towers. Power running to digital frames dedicated to particular teams is hidden within the walls.

“Wine & Hockey” is in this family’s blood. Long time Washington Capitals fans and wine collector.
They have lived in this prominent golf-course neighborhood for several years and now it comes time to finish their basement.
He has been collecting more than thousands of wine bottles from all over the world, possibly worth over a couple hundred thousand -- this is the time that he wanted to display and show it all off.
Tailgater and diehard Capitals fan that they are, they own several memorable autographed player jerseys and lots of collectables worth being in hall-of-fame stands.
With all these ideas in mind, we have started the construction of this basement. The main event room with big pub style bar fully equipped with a wine cooler, beer fridge, and a built-in wall for all top shelf liquor. Built with dark cherry wood and exquisite stone top under stylish pendent lights is a heart of this space.
A hidden storage door built with display shelving just to the right of the bar, giving access to storage behind this bar.
To the left of this a stone wall, an embedded fireplace giving a cozy feel for seating and gaming area while facing the giant screen TV.
This carefully designed wine cellar features the best of the best wine collection in wrapped around mahogany wine racks, beaded stain grade paneling, exotic stone counter, Muriel center stone, equipped with high efficiency chiller system, all just behind custom made door arch panel glass door.
“This view is spectacular.”
Wide plank flooring throughout leading into the end of hallway. There is a Gym with mirror walls and rubber floors, room to burn off all the wine calories! The full bathroom with stoned shower, and immaculate fixtures just outside of the gym.
The lighting effect is a highlight of this project.
We designed a feature wall for framed memorable jerseys and hidden storage for all of their valued VCR tapes of capital games.
This basement is not a regular space, but it is a hall of fame for Hockey and Wine.

Chicagoland Home Products provided a custom storage solution in this children’s play area in Chicago, where there was play space but no place to put away and store the toys. With careful planning, quality design and installation, CHP left room for the kids to roam, access the play table and utilize the hutch that was already in the room.
Flanking both sides of the hutch, from which unicorns can now survey a much tidier domain, drawers and storage shelves provide a home where toys can take a time-out and wait for kids to call them into action. Now, properly stored stuffed animals, games, books and more give little feet space to move about.
Base molding keeps things that roll and bounce from getting trapped under the storage cabinets. Crown molding seems an appropriate touch in this small kingdom. The units are dressed in glossy white from the top shelves down to the drawers.
That’s what Chicagoland Home Products can do for your child’s things in his or her playroom. CHP can, also, provide wonderful storage solutions for your toys in the garage and basement. In fact, wherever storage and productivity answers are needed in office or home, one call to CHP will give you the help you need. Contact us now for a free in-home consultation.

This basement is not a regular space, but it is a hall of fame for Hockey and Wine.

We started with a blank slate on this basement project where our only obstacles were exposed steel support columns, existing plumbing risers from the concrete slab, and dropped soffits concealing ductwork on the ceiling. It had the advantage of tall ceilings, an existing egress window, and a sliding door leading to a newly constructed patio.
This family of five loves the beach and frequents summer beach resorts in the Northeast. Bringing that aesthetic home to enjoy all year long was the inspiration for the décor, as well as creating a family-friendly space for entertaining.
Wish list items included room for a billiard table, wet bar, game table, family room, guest bedroom, full bathroom, space for a treadmill and closed storage. The existing structural elements helped to define how best to organize the basement. For instance, we knew we wanted to connect the bar area and billiards table with the patio in order to create an indoor/outdoor entertaining space. It made sense to use the egress window for the guest bedroom for both safety and natural light. The bedroom also would be adjacent to the plumbing risers for easy access to the new bathroom. Since the primary focus of the family room would be for TV viewing, natural light did not need to filter into that space. We made sure to hide the columns inside of newly constructed walls and dropped additional soffits where needed to make the ceiling mechanicals feel less random.
In addition to the beach vibe, the homeowner has valuable sports memorabilia that was to be prominently displayed including two seats from the original Yankee stadium.
For a coastal feel, shiplap is used on two walls of the family room area. In the bathroom shiplap is used again in a more creative way using wood grain white porcelain tile as the horizontal shiplap “wood”. We connected the tile horizontally with vertical white grout joints and mimicked the horizontal shadow line with dark grey grout. At first glance it looks like we wrapped the shower with real wood shiplap. Materials including a blue and white patterned floor, blue penny tiles and a natural wood vanity checked the list for that seaside feel.
A large reclaimed wood door on an exposed sliding barn track separates the family room from the game room where reclaimed beams are punctuated with cable lighting. Cabinetry and a beverage refrigerator are tucked behind the rolling bar cabinet (that doubles as a Blackjack table!). A TV and upright video arcade machine round-out the entertainment in the room. Bar stools, two rotating club chairs, and large square poufs along with the Yankee Stadium seats provide fun places to sit while having a drink, watching billiards or a game on the TV.
Signed baseballs can be found behind the bar, adjacent to the billiard table, and on specially designed display shelves next to the poker table in the family room.
Thoughtful touches like the surfboards, signage, photographs and accessories make a visitor feel like they are on vacation at a well-appointed beach resort without being cliché.

We created this bespoke playroom for our client’s home in Claygate, Surrey. Our brief was to create a highly practical interior with lots of sturdy storage units tailored to accommodate a vast collection of Lego sets and models. We needed to design and build a bespoke storage system that would make it easy to sort and store the Lego, display the models, and allow plenty of space in the room for playing and building.
Our playroom design was built-in, wall to wall, low-level bespoke wooden cabinetry featuring wicker painted storage baskets. The room has sloped ceilings which makes it ideal for a child’s playroom as everything feels closer to their level and toys and games can be stored at just the right height for them. The result is an attractive, streamlined, tidy, well-organised space that looks great, is clutter free and fun to use.
Solid oak painted cabinets
The handcrafted cabinetry in real oak wood has been spraypainted in Farrow & Ball Downpipe, a dark blue-grey shade which matches the interior doors of our client’s residence in Surrey. The versatile, wicker baskets have a contrasting warm white painted finish. The fitted cabinets have a countertop to display the children’s completed Lego model masterpieces. We also installed a matching fully upholstered built-in bench seat which fits neatly against the low angled ceiling. This creates a cosy reading spot with extra storage.
Customised wicker baskets
The children can pull out the lightweight baskets to play with the Lego in the middle of the room. Their sturdy construction and woven, durable material make them practically indestructible and adds a textural appeal to this fun games room.
Each easy-to-carry basket contains removable, customised Lego trays. The trays allow the Lego and building manuals to be neatly sorted by colour, type or set. The whole design is child friendly and easy to maintain.
