The flooring was stained a dark gray, and the structural concrete walls are exposed to accent the floors. The walls were skim coated and sealed with a natural coating. The kitchen countertops are stunning yet straightforward featuring Statuary Classique Quartz from MSI Surfaces which is elegant, durable and requires no maintenance. This marble-look quartz is a soothing white background, and delicate veins make for great countertops with waterfalls. The Backsplash wall tile is a Bergamo Herringbone Mosaic by MSI Surfaces which is an elegant natural beautiful white marble tile that features soft gray tones in the veins. La Bibliotheque Fil by Pierre Paulin Originally designed for his own personal use in 1972, Pierre Paulin's ultraminimal bookshelf illustrates his lifelong fascination with architecture and the organization of space. A straightforward yet elegant combination of a lacquered-steel wire frame and 5 plywood shelves—modular at 70cm (27½”) wide—shelves are easily expanded or adjusted thanks to the notched posts and foot-cylinders. Shelves made of beech plywood, in stratified white or black lacquer finish.

This plan was designed for the move-up buyer, a family of stable size that wants a higher level of luxury without unnecessary space. A straightforward footprint saves construction dollars that can be allocated instead to the architectural details associated with upscale homes, while a perfectly executed layout provides elegant efficiency. The stone-and-shake façade features an appealing entry portico and unique shutter detailing that builds on the barn door trend. This client was looking to open up their living room and kitchen space to allow for a seamless flow between the kitchen, dining, and living areas. This also created a more inviting atmosphere for entertaining. The homeowners wanted to use materials that would be straight forward to keep clean and maintain. We chose a designer LVP flooring with a light woodgrain finish to complement other wood accents. Quartz marbled countertops were selected for their durability and easy cleaning. The design of this project was centered around creating a bright, airy, and comfortable atmosphere. We were able to accentuate the height of the space by installing three large skylights that also served to brighten the kitchen with natural light. The straight-forward backsplash and floating shelf design gave the kitchen a clean, modern appearance. The contrasting-tone cabinets provide the visual centerpiece that ties this kitchen design together.

The homeowners wanted a simple, clean, modern bathroom. Sounds straightforward enough. But with a tight budget, a funky layout and a requirement not to move any plumbing, it was more of a puzzle than expected. Good thing we like puzzles! We added a wall to separate the bathroom from the master, installed a ‘tub with a view,’ and put in a free-standing vanity and glass shower to provide a sense of openness. The before pictures don’t begin to showcase the craziness that existed at the start, but we’re thrilled with the finish!

Tiffany Crystal quartzite is one of those stones that earns its keep in a kitchen. It's got that cool, crystalline background, whites and grays moving quietly across the surface with enough sparkle in the light to keep it from feeling flat. It reads clean and bright without going stark, which is why it works so well in a kitchen where people actually cook and gather, not just admire counters from across the room. Quartzite is real stone, not engineered, so it comes with natural hardness that holds up to daily kitchen abuse. It resists scratching and handles heat well, though we still tell folks to use a trivet, because no counter needs a hot pan set straight on it just to prove a point. Sealing it right after install and keeping up with it over the years keeps the surface performing the way it should, and Tiffany Crystal takes a seal well because of its tight, dense structure. Fabricating a slab like this takes some care in the layout. We spend real time bookmatching and dry-fitting pieces so the movement in the stone flows across seams instead of fighting itself at the corners. On a kitchen island or a run of perimeter counters, getting that continuity right is what separates a good installation from one that just gets the measurements correct. We kept the edge eased here, which is the right call on a stone with this much personality. It doesn't need extra shaping to draw the eye, the stone's already doing that work. Day to day, this is a kitchen counter that's going to live hard and look good doing it. Quartzite shrugs off knife marks, stands up to acidic spills, and cleans up with regular dish soap and water. It's the kind of surface you stop babying after the first few months because it simply holds up. Jobs like this one in Lexington are what we like seeing come through the shop. It's a straightforward kitchen application done with a stone that's got real depth to it, installed by people who care about how the seams and the veining line up when the job's done. That's the kind of work that keeps the Midlands trade honest.
