This was an assignment from Design 2. The intent was to create a bird blind on a nature reserve for bird watchers to study the birds in their natural habitat without disturbing them. It was a study of light, permeability, and the natural environment. This in particular is a study model of tectonic and stereotomic relationships that acted as a precedent to my bird blind.

One of the highlights of this space is the private workroom right off the main living area. A work and study room, sectioned off with gorgeous maple, sliding barn doors, is the perfect space for a group project or a quiet study hall. We made it work by taking careful dimensions of the space as well as every piece of furniture before purchasing. Even the height of the printer mattered as it had to fit between the filing cabinet and the desk. The busy student who lives here had two primary needs: sleeping and studying. We were hired at a distance to create a beautiful bedroom for a client's daughter to hang out in, relax and study.

This office and study area is a great use of space; centrally located in a loft. Compacted in this design is room for files, a printer/fax/scanner combination, storage space for supplies and an extra work counter.
