Brunswick Parlour transforms a Victorian cottage into a hard-working, personalised home for a family of four. Our clients loved the character of their Brunswick terrace home, but not its inefficient floor plan and poor year-round thermal control. They didn't need more space, they just needed their space to work harder. The front bedrooms remain largely untouched, retaining their Victorian features and only introducing new cabinetry. Meanwhile, the main bedroom’s previously pokey en suite and wardrobe have been expanded, adorned with custom cabinetry and illuminated via a generous skylight. At the rear of the house, we reimagined the floor plan to establish shared spaces suited to the family’s lifestyle. Flanked by the dining and living rooms, the kitchen has been reoriented into a more efficient layout and features custom cabinetry that uses every available inch. In the dining room, the Swiss Army Knife of utility cabinets unfolds to reveal a laundry, more custom cabinetry, and a craft station with a retractable desk. Beautiful materiality throughout infuses the home with warmth and personality, featuring Blackbutt timber flooring and cabinetry, and selective pops of green and pink tones. The house now works hard in a thermal sense too. Insulation and glazing were updated to best practice standard, and we’ve introduced several temperature control tools. Hydronic heating installed throughout the house is complemented by an evaporative cooling system and operable skylight. The result is a lush, tactile home that increases the effectiveness of every existing inch to enhance daily life for our clients, proving that good design doesn’t need to add space to add value.

As you step inside, an open floor plan incorporates the grand living room, dining room and kitchen all together as one open space. A wood-burning fireplace, large kitchen island, powder room and the guest suite with its private bath, are just some of the features that make the main floor both comfortable and practical for family living. The master suite includes a beautiful glass enclosed shower, a free-standing tub, and expansive walk-in closet. As you transition up the spacious u-shaped staircase, the second floor reveals a sitting area and two additional bedrooms along with two full baths. Cesar Rubio Hulburd Design transformed a 1920s French Provincial-style home to accommodate a family of five with guest quarters. The family frequently entertains and loves to cook. This, along with their extensive modern art collection and Scandinavian aesthetic informed the clean, lively palette.

While this client is not on the road, he loves to cook for his family and closest friends. This is why this kitchen has the top of the line modern appliances, gas cooktop, and a whole back up pantry storage around the corner with full size refrigerator, freezer, and a wine fridge. Client asked us for a sleek and functional kitchen that has a dual purpose: it acts as an every day kitchen for the family, and it can be closed off from the areas of the house with hidden doors to become a catering kitchen for the parties. In lieu of traditional hood and pendants, we designed an incredible stainless steel hood that supports cantilevered structure with LED panel providing functional lighting over the island. This design was inspired by a fashion runway show catwalk and this kitchen certainly is a show stage for culinary excellence. The sleek design allows you to move around the kitchen without protruding catching handles. The doors and drawers incorporate state of the art technology allowing for simple tap or push on the surface for the cabinetry to open. This is especially useful when your hands have food on them when you’re cooking as you are able to use your knee or thigh to activate doors to open. Even refrigerator and freezer have a fully integrated hidden custom pull handle that looks like a vertical reveal – this allows for good grip to pull the heavy doors with suction, and the white acrylic panels are very easy to keep clean. Positions of two sinks on the island were specifically placed in the locations to facilitate the steps in food preparation - having them both on a single working surface makes it easier to work between them without dropping food or dripping water on the floors while preparing for cooking. Island incorporates a tall counter to sit at for a quick bite or just to stand around with you friends as you are preparing a meal. . This is another complete remodel. Almost everyone has a home with a bathtub that can be converted, such as this space, "More and more people prefer larger showers to shower-tub combinations. This layout is a very common builder layout, too." We just luxed it up by adding a curbless shower, this means the shower floor is level with the main floor in the bathroom, no step up to get in. We also installed a liner drain! The client wanted modern and white. The tile design in the shower is stainless steel pebble tile on the wall cut in on a curve, along with a white glossy tile that has a metal reveal running horizontal. The same tile is contentious throughout bathroom. We tiled all the walls in the bathroom from floor to ceiling. Note the linear drain too.

Two-bedroom renovation in a 1920’s loft style building. A single large floating ceiling with perimeter cove lighting was built over the living and dining space to accentuate the extra tall ceiling height. The ceiling also serves to hide LED recessed lighting, speakers and sprinkler heads. Custom teak veneer doors are wrapped with blackened steel door jams and a blackened steel base reveal that match the extra-large aluminum windows. High gloss gray lacquer cabinetry was used in the kitchen as well as for the matching living room TV unit. In the kitchen, custom flush pivot doors on either end, built to look like part of the kitchen cabinetry, push open on one side reveal an office behind and on the other to reveal a rear hallway leading to a guest bathroom. White caesarstone countertops were used throughout with large porcelain tiles in the bathrooms. Engineered grey-washed rift and quartered white oak floors extend throughout.

Despite it shows itself with simplicity and pure linearity, the peculiarities of Simplicia are multiple and all determinants, to reveal an immense creative character. To theseare added also a complete set of attachments multi-purpose, together with electric appliances and hoods of high technology.

Sometimes when you need a new refrigerator, you just need a new refrigerator. BUT sometimes when you need a new refrigerator, you realize that there is a whole lot more that is out of whack that a new icebox isn't going to come close to fixing. That is just where my clients were when they first called me. They had shopped, they had had layouts developed by the kitchen designers at Home Depot, they had tried drawing up floor plans themselves…but even with the promise of all new everything in the kitchen, something still felt wrong. What could it be? Their existing kitchen was put in by the builder when the house was built 15+ years ago. Using the room to cook felt frustrating, uninspiring--there was so much space, so why did it feel like it simply didn't work? They were ready for something that had the wow factor, an amazing space for the three generations of their family that all live under one roof to hang out in, cook together and dine. First, our renovation gave purpose to all of those square feet, and put lovely finishes in place (beautiful cabinets, rustic barn wood paneling, stunning limestone tile and quartz countertops) that elevated the feel and function of the room with excellent craftsmanship and quality. In addition, we addressed how the kitchen related to the rooms around it. Expanding and moving the doorway to the kitchen and opening up sight lines between it and the adjacent rooms changed not only how the kitchen felt, but also made the whole downstairs feel more cohesive and welcoming.
