Remodeling and gutting a former body shop, we officially opened our doors at Whiski Kitchen Design Studio September 2015. The showroom kept parts of its original aesthetics displaying the concrete floor and exposed duct work. We added a15-panel glass garage door to reveal several unique kitchen vignettes on display. "I want people to say 'Wow!' when they walk in to my house" This was our directive for this bachelor's newly purchased home. We accomplished the mission by drafting plans for a significant remodel which included removing walls and columns, opening up the spaces between rooms to create better flow, then adding custom furnishings and original art for a customized unique Wow factor! His Christmas party proved we had succeeded as each person 'wowed!' the spaces! Even more meaningful to us, as Designers, was watching everyone converse in the sitting area, dining room, living room, and around the grand island (12'-6" grand to be exact!) and genuinely enjoy all the fabulous, yet comfortable spaces.

The calming hues of turquoise oceans, translucent sea glass and golden sands evoke a sophisticated seaside holiday. Carefully curated, our Coastal Cool 60-Piece Ornament Collection depicts sparkling water through rich beadwork and mimics waves and water droplets through textured mouth-blown glass. Shell, seahorse, coral and sand dollar shapes add to the coastal intrigue.

Transitional Architectural Theatre Lighting & Interior Design This Batman themed theater was not part of the original theater plans. I was hired by the owners to do lighting design for their new construction home. In my first preliminary lighting plan presentation the husband expressed his passion for a Batman themed theater and showed me an image of a Batman themed theater he liked. Which he followed up to say it was out of his budget. I was hired for lighting design. What the owners did not know was that I have an interior design degree. I asked what amount he was willing to spend for a Batman themed theatre. I knew I could design the theatre for a quarter of the cost of the theatre he had shown me. I felt comfortable saying I could design lighting and interiors for the theatre within their budget. I proceeded with bringing in my team of artists to review the images of his Batman comic magazine collection that had to be in the theater: Batcave, Wayne Manor, Lincoln Penney, Bat phone and the Joker. As the images indicate, we succeeded in designing and installing the Batman themed theatre to meet the client's criteria. At the owner’s request: Linear LEDs lit the Batcave faux wall murals of stone and Wayne Manor aged wood columns, custom crystal wall sconces, and a library with a life size Batman costume hidden behind a false bookcase. A false wooden window with a Gotham City Mural of the Bat signal were revealed by using ultraviolet black lights. It was a fun project but could not have been accomplished without a team of excellent artists, building contractors, A.V. control company, millwork fabricators and electricians. As an artist, Claude Monet used his eye to design his fabulous home in Giverny, France. Choosing hand made blue and white tiles from a tile manufacturer in Rouen, France - he succeeded in inspiring the design world for the past century. Blue and white glazed porcelain and ceramic tiles were brought to Europe from China via the French East India Company beginning in 1664. France was one of the first countries to unlock the Chinese secrets of fabricating their hard paste porcelain - and Rouen was an established center of this artistic endeavor. Of course Monet would only have the best when it came to his home - and purchasing tiles in Rouen was without question. Perhaps understood as well by Monet, is that blue is the color of the mind - it is soothing to the soul and stimulates clear thought. Historically accurate, hand painted by Emmi Micallef and kiln-fired onto a 5" x 5" hand made tile in one of two whites, The Cuisine de Monet Collection brings not only timeless elegance into the kitchen but a serenity from an overstimulated world.

This four wall hand painted mural was created for an almost three year old boy. The clients and I decided we wanted the animals to look natural, but well fed, sweet but not cartoon-y. We wanted to gently stretch reality without adding palm trees or pandas (Does anyone know why those things get included in Safari bedding?). I think we succeeded in a safari experience that is playful to live in, but also peaceful and calming.
