The distinct forms of the foundation plants emphasize the contrast of textures between the low groundcover, clipped boxwood hedge and billowy ‘Endless Summer’ Hydrangea. The plant selection provides color and interest throughout each season. Photography by Linda Oyama Bryan

The cabana was placed at the end of the pool to provide opportunities for a quiet, romantic getaway. The cabana is enclosed by block wall with an ipe wood veneer. Horizontal shudders are also of ipe. They allow for privacy with air movement (notice the angle of the shudder will not allow visibility into the cabana). The double fabric cabana is grey on the exterior with a white interior. A simple ceiling fan and light illuminates the entire space. The fireplace is precast concrete. It is natural gas with an internal ventilation system. The shower, also shown, is located just to the right of the cabana.

The garden was a mess when I arrived to redesign it. Neglected chaos and an elderly couple who wanted a peaceful, place to relax in.

A vibrant color scheme in the guest bedroom gives off a welcoming impression to visitors. Bright, yet unimposing, it sets the stage for good times and happy thoughts. The metal and wood bed frame and side tables were made by Kiel. With clean lines and Scandinavian-like materials, the furniture adds to the airy quality set forth with the layering of textiles. Adrienne DeRosa © 2014 Houzz Inc. "Its all for the love of junk!" exclaims Jennifer, about the free-spirited way of decorating the home's wrap-around porch. "Because it is all outside I won't spend a lot of money on any of it; I find cheap old junk in the trash or garage sales with cute colors or patterns and make it happen." Inspired by the colors from the garden, various items are recovered or painted in pastel hues to create a comfortable and engaging place to relax. "Raymond and I love our outdoor wrap-around porch in the summer. Because I decorate it like a house outdoors it creates the comfort of a southern home with surrounding gardens that are bursting with color and nature and fresh smells everyday. You can't help but want to sit and drink your coffee there in the morning and soak it all in. You smell the Lake Erie breeze and hear the waves crashing; its so serene."
