Working with a new client on a gorgeous home that had the most unique staircase. Though traditional, a "beachy environment" was the desired outcome. Her stairs are solid walnut and I felt a traditional "Waterfall" runner was not appropriate. She NEEDED carpeting for a beloved golden lab that needs help getting up and down stairs - These Stanton Carpet Wool Treads where a perfect look - She hesitated due to lack of photos on an internet search . I asked her to trust me and HER home would become the NEW example - She is thrilled with the results and her recent company could not have agreed more!

This existing home was originally built circa 1919, and was ready for a major renovation. As was characteristic of the period in which the home was built, the existing spaces were small and closed in. The design concept included removing walls on first floor for a thoroughly updated and open living / dining / kitchen space, as well as creating a new first floor powder room and entry. Great care was taken to preserve and embrace original period details, including the wood doors and hardware (which were all refinished and reused), the existing stairs (also refinished), and an existing brick pier was exposed to restore some of the home’s inherent charm. The existing wood flooring was also refinished to retain the original details and character. At the Ferguson home we did a full stair remodel. Much of the existing stairs were removed to make way for new oak treads, our Pescheria pattern of wrought iron balusters in our Midnight Bronze powder coated finish, and refinished newels and handrails. The transformation took a mundane stairway to a whole new level.

When Chesney's were approached to design and manufacture a limestone cantilevered staircase for the entrance hall of a new English country house, the brief was to create a focal point that was both graceful and impressive. We suggested a smooth soffit tread design which would lend itself well to a plain material such as limestone and would create a beautiful continuous curve to the underside of the staircase that could be appreciated from the Entrance Hall below.
