We honored the building’s history where possible, keeping original bones and character wherever possible, then layered in the clients’ distinct creative identity. On the main floor, we designed spaces that shift seamlessly from workday to reception-ready. Lighting was planned with intention, to preserve the original plaster ceilings and spotlight rotating installations without sacrificing ambient warmth. Custom built-ins maximize functionality while maintaining a distinctly un-officey feel. Upstairs, the artist apartment is a thoughtful retreat: adaptable, light-filled, and comfortable, with just enough quirk to spark inspiration. Even the basement—home to a full photography studio and workroom—balances technical needs with aesthetic ease. Throughout, we used color, texture, and collected pieces to ensure each room feels curated, not staged. Personal, not polished.

The open, vaulted entry to the home is a serene passageway bookended with glass walls. The area is furnished with ottomans reminiscent of the pebbles and boulders found in the courtyard, which is visible when entering the home. This four-story Victorian revival was amazing to see unfold; from replacing the foundation, building out the 1st floor, hoisting structural steel into place, and upgrading to in-floor radiant heat. This gorgeous “Old Lady” got all the bells and whistles. This quintessential Victorian presented itself with all the complications imaginable when bringing an early 1900’s home back to life. Our favorite task? The Custom woodwork: hand carving and installing over 200 florets to match historical home details. A vacant, worn office space should be transformed into a show apartment / showroom. The existing space had been used as an office structure since the 1960s. Located on the 4th floor of a ten-floor reinforced concrete skeleton, the area is already high enough to receive a great amount of light, which is particularly noticeable at dawn and dusk: sunrises and sunsets conjure up the most spellbinding blends of light. The existing structure and also the technical equipment were completely outdated and needed to be completely rebuilt: suspended ceilings were removed and walls changed. The result is a modern city apartment of almost 100 m2 (about 1,070 sqft) – divided into a large living space, 2 rooms, 1 bathroom, 1 powder room and 1 utility room. The existing window facades could not be changed, but they are part of the concept anyway, namely to bring as much light as possible into the room. A controlled ventilation system ensures optimal air quality even with closed windows. The central kitchen element serves as a kind of separation of the living area and the dining area. Here customers and guests are served, people communicate, cook together, drink a glass of wine. Clients experience living. The rough reinforced concrete ribbed slaps were uncovered and painted white to give the room more height, which is accentuated by the lighting concept with ceiling-mounted spotlights. The dark oak floor creates a successful contrast to the brightly designed rooms. The wittily positioned pedestal areas hide all technical elements, such as the supply air openings of the living room ventilation. Flush-fitting door elements in the walls with a chalked brick look show in detail the special feature of the room. The central wall elements were deliberately not pulled up to the ceiling, but are separated by a glass element to show the continuity of the construction. Most of the furniture was designed by Wolfgang Pichler. Within the course of this project he was able to implement his holistic approach in the field of construction technology, architecture and furniture design and skillfully combine it with design classics. Scandinavian classics can be found in the concept just as much as pieces he collected during his career and furniture he developed for the company VITEO, which he founded in 2002. The project illustrates the added value of an architectural holistic approach.

We contracted with Chester County Kitchen and Bath (CCKAB) to completely renovate our master bathroom first, followed by a complete kitchen renovation and the building of a family room addition off the kitchen. John Noland, the VP at CCKAB for such project development, was simply fantastic. He spent many hours with us, discussing our ideas of what we wanted the house to look like, and then he produced outstanding overall technical designs for each project before we ever signed the contract. John used his design software to develop dramatic and really useful drawings and graphic depictions of each aspect of the different projects; these drawings enabled us to refine the different projects over several weeks. John's initial cost estimates were spot-on, as was his proposed project timeline. When we added major changes to the original designs, John worked with us and the general (sub)contractor to incorporate the changes to the overall project without bursting the budget or blowing the timeline. John's able deputy, Stacy Nass, was simply amazing as the Project Manager. She juggled the scheduling of subcontractors, suppliers, cabinetry, appliance installation, etc. with aplomb and professionalism, and it was principally due to her careful attention to detail that the projects ran so smoothly and finished on time. The technical expertise of John, Stacy, and the rest of the staff at CCKAB are matched by their warm interpersonal skills. Having heard all the horror stories from friends about contractors they've used for home projects, we consider ourselves fortunate to have hired the folks from Chester County Kitchen and Bath. In the end, we were so very impressed with the final results - John and Stacy and their many collaborators really did help us create our dream home.

"Adventure Awaits" is a cozy 1,690-square-foot timber frame cabin on Lake of the Woods, Ontario. Completed in 2019, this recreational build features the natural warmth and durability of Western Red Cedar timbers. Designed by Technic Design and built by 3D Construction, the project demonstrates that high-quality timber framing isn't reserved only for massive estates. The exposed cedar beams create an inviting, rustic atmosphere perfect for a lakeside retreat, offering a more intimate scale without compromising on craftsmanship or the classic timber frame aesthetic.

This guest suite in Hayden, Idaho, proves that high-end engineering shouldn't be reserved just for the master wing. We designed this hall bath as an "exotic luxury" destination, utilizing a specialized Kohler DTV electronic control system to manage a precision hydrotherapy array. It’s a sophisticated, compact spa experience that offers guests the same level of technical performance found in the primary suite. Technical & Artisan Highlights: Exotic Glass Tile Artistry: The focal point of the shower is the stunning floor-to-ceiling back wall, featuring an intricate, high-gloss glass mosaic tile in a Moroccan-inspired pattern. Streamlined DTV Digital Control: The shower is powered by a computerized DTV interface (visible on the left wall), allowing guests to digitally program their perfect water temperature and flow. This provides a flexible secondary water source that complements the fixed massage heads. Custom Glass & Lighting: The shower is enclosed in heavy-duty, frameless glass to keep the focus on the decorative tile work.
