This stunning renovation in The Beaches transformed a semi-detached home into a modern, spacious masterpiece. The project required innovative solutions, including a cantilevered third-floor expansion, extending both out the side and rear to maximize space without altering the home’s footprint.
Woodsmith Construction rebuilt the home from the inside out, addressing structural challenges while blending modern upgrades with the home’s original charm. The highlight of this renovation is the third-floor walkout deck, creating a private outdoor retreat with stunning views.
Despite the tight lot and shared party wall constraints, this project was a huge success. The clients love their expanded home, and we’re proud to have delivered a transformation that balances architectural innovation with everyday functionality.

Party Palace - Custom Ranch on Acreage in Ridgefield Washington by Cascade West Development Inc.
This family is very involved with their church and hosts community events weekly; so the need to access the kitchen, seating areas, dining and entryways with 100+ guests present was imperative. This prompted us and the homeowner to create extra square footage around these amenities. The kitchen also received the double island treatment. Allowing guests to be hosted at one of the larger islands (capable of seating 5-6) while hors d'oeuvres and refreshments can be prepared on the smaller more centrally located island, helped these happy hosts to staff and plan events accordingly. Placement of these rooms relative to each other in the floor plan was also key to keeping all of the excitement happening in one place, making regular events easy to monitor, easy to maintain and relatively easy to clean-up. Some other important features that made this house a party-palace were a hidden butler's pantry, multiple wetbars and prep spaces, sectional seating inside and out, and double dining nooks (formal and informal).

Creating a space to entertain was the top priority in this Mukwonago kitchen remodel. The homeowners wanted seating and counter space for hosting parties and watching sports. By opening the dining room wall, we extended the kitchen area. We added an island and custom designed furniture-style bar cabinet with retractable pocket doors. A new awning window overlooks the backyard and brings in natural light. Many in-cabinet storage features keep this kitchen neat and organized.
Bar Cabinet
The furniture-style bar cabinet has retractable pocket doors and a drop-in quartz counter. The homeowners can entertain in style, leaving the doors open during parties. Guests can grab a glass of wine or make a cocktail right in the cabinet.
Outlet Strips
Outlet strips on the island and peninsula keeps the end panels of the island and peninsula clean. The outlet strips also gives them options for plugging in appliances during parties.
Modern Farmhouse Design
The design of this kitchen is modern farmhouse. The materials, patterns, color and texture define this space. We used shades of golds and grays in the cabinetry, backsplash and hardware. The chevron backsplash and shiplap island adds visual interest.
Custom Cabinetry
This kitchen features frameless custom cabinets with light rail molding. It’s designed to hide the under cabinet lighting and angled plug molding. Putting the outlets under the cabinets keeps the backsplash uninterrupted.
Storage Features
Efficient storage and organization was important to these homeowners.
We opted for deep drawers to allow for easy access to stacks of dishes and bowls.
Under the cooktop, we used custom drawer heights to meet the homeowners’ storage needs.
A third drawer was added next to the spice drawer rollout.
Narrow pullout cabinets on either side of the cooktop for spices and oils.
The pantry rollout by the double oven rotates 90 degrees.
Other Updates
Staircase – We updated the staircase with a barn wood newel post and matte black balusters
Fireplace – We whitewashed the fireplace and added a barn wood mantel and pilasters.

This home is a short term rental I designed up in Tennessee. To make the basement feel welcoming we added the electric fireplace and lots of different textures and color to make the space inviting when guest arrived.
The second floor of the cabin is the main area, it's light and bright with lots of warm wood, The third floor features a space every kid would enjoy. With crafts and an area I designed for kids to have the ultimate sleep over party. The beds are low so the kids can play.

In Portland’s West End, the house is located on an incredibly tight site with neighbors to the south and north, a
beautiful garden to preserve to the west, and a stone wall to the east. The owners were looking for an energy conscious green building that would require very little energy to heat and cool. A third party performed a blower door test and we were able to achieve an air change per hour of 0.73 (which is just above passive house for this size of house). To achieve such a low air change per hour, is a testament to our commitment to quality.

The only builder in Southwest Colorado to third-party certify all their homes to rigorous standards.

The window seat provides nice display space, and a little more elbow room. For large parties, it doubles as an additional sideboard.
